@fraoppland is just mad because he blames corporate Toyota for the vehicles we buy. Can't blame us for buying gas guzzlers. i understand your point oppland but trust me they have us under their finger.
@bachelorinspace Lets see now... Without having a guitar or piano to guide me, lets say the stsart chord in this song in C, okay? It would go like this: C-G-C-F-C-A-D-G-C. Might be missing a note, but that would pretty much cover it.
Love this song. I just wish it had more than one verse. Also about the sound. I wonder if it may not be intentional as I wonder if they were looking for that old timey sound when recording. Just a thought. Well Oppland don't blame Toyota if were the ones buying those gas guzzling 4x4s.
I don't care what anyone says, this song is just plain fuckin' annoying, it's catchy and annoying. Just because something is catchy, doesn't make it good. This is catchy crap. As for Toyota, they are just another corporation trying to convince the rest of the world they give a shit about the environment and our world. They make far more gas-guzzling 4x4 trucks than they make "eco-friendly" vehicles. Trying to convince people to buy buy buy is the antithesis of "eco-friendly" Most r 2 stupid 2 c
I cannot get this song out of my head......all day, all night.....come along come along, baby come along....... Probably just what Toyota hoped for. ALL of their previous advertising SUCKS compared to this. I LOVE Fabienne. Cripes, can't believe I said that....

Sorry to tell everyone this, but she's a thief. I see this (or should I say hear this) stuff all the time. Go listen to Dr. Hook's song Cover of the Rolling Stone. She simply took their rhythm and melody then changed the words. Classic. If you are a musician you pride yourself on playing original stuff, not plagiarism. Dr. Hook, Madonna, and many others should sue these copycats! P.S This is not SPAM DUDE it's TRUTH
@Fender4me76 Since Shel Silverstien (the guy who wrote "Cover") is dead, he's not complaining. Dr. Hook has already made their money off that song, so THEY'RE not complaining. It's not even the same song, so if nobody else is complaining, what are you bitching about?
slight correction on lyrics (that's what I get for writing from memory instead of looking at what I have written) it should read 'Oh, baby can't you see HOW MUCH you mean to me,, not 'just what you mean to me'. sorry
@Singin101Passion the lyrics are: Come along, come along Baby, baby come along Pretty baby come along with me. I love and I need you Just to hug and squeeze you Baby why can't you see? I love you all the while To see me smile, Just set my heart at ease Oh, baby can't you see Just what you mean to me Pretty baby come along with me. when it repeats for the second verse, the last line is: Pretty baby come along with, baby come along with, baby come along with me.
It's not this song specifically, but if you want to see a video clip of her performing live, look up "The Bristols" here on youtube. Fabienne fronted that UK band, until they broke up in 2003. They sound a lot like her solo music does now: avant-garde garage music with lots of cover tunes. She sounds like she's from the sixties - one or two generations back.
Sorry to tell everyone this, but she's a thief. I see this (or should I say hear this) stuff all the time. Go listen to Dr. Hook's song Cover of the Rolling Stone. thank, you, Toyota Prius V, for getting this song permanently stuck in my head! yes, it's cute and catchy, and i can't stop hitting the replay button, lol. it's addicting 8)

dont know why, but this is an earworm that wont leave my brain, lol. Insanely catchy, charming as all get out, and the production is genius -- distortion on acoustic guitars in the instrumental break, fabulous!
It does certainly pay an homage to the Rooftop Singers "Walk Right In" : see you tube clip XQ2kgV62ivo

@MidnightMoses69 I agree sort of, but if you look at the style of that Dr. Hook classic, they were borrowing from other folk music styles of the era and even back to the early 60's "skiffle" sound. BTW, the Beatles were originally a skiffle band.
What is "skiffle"? Search video or audio clips of The Sunshine Skiffle Band for examples.
...and on the subject of other peoples' sound: Many of Barry Manilow's hits are actually melodies he "borrowed" from Chopin nocturnes. "I write the songs..."?
I think this song sounds more like "Walk Right In" by The Rooftop Singers than Dr. Hook, but that's entirely our opinions. Since Rock'N'Roll has been around for almost 60 years now, I doubt that anyone can produce a new song these days that's not attacked for being stolen/copied/covered from someone else. Have all the lyrics and melodies been all used up?? Who knows what the future may bring, but this is still a catchy tune...
@swervn69 "Walk Right In" - There's a song I haven't thought about in many years. Now that you mention it, this does remind me of it. I agree with you and HunterMann, there are only a certain number of combinations of notes in the universe. This one just seems more blatant to me than most. I still have trouble with others such as "My Sweet Lord/He's So Fine" and "Hotel California/We Used to Know". This screamed "Dr. Hook" the first time I heard it. And yes, it is catchy
@HunterMann Nope. "I Write The Songs", ironically, wasn't even written by Manilow, but by Beach Boy Bruce Johnston. One song he DID base on Chopin's work was "Could It Be Magic", in 1973.
This song was composed by B. Britten, not by Fabienne.
Do you hear "Walk Right In" by The Rooftop Singers here too??
Can you name any new band these days that has produced new songs that have not been attacked for being stolen/copied/covered from someone else?? Now that Rock'N'Roll is nearing 60 years of existence, I guess every musician could be labeled as a thief by someone somewhere...
Can't find any 'history' on the song itself, but it sure sounds like a little song I knew as a kid. I seem to recall we sang it while either jump roping or hand slapping. Anyone else from the good ol' 50's and 60's remember it?
Just an FYI to the person who uploaded this: Facebook won't let this post because they think the tinyurl link you posted above is spam. You may want to change that if you want people to share this. Thanks!
@LAdave2007 Ah, thanks for letting me know. Facebook blocked adf.ly a while back. When you go to share it and the window pops up with the video, click the description and delete the info in it before posting, it will probably work then. (Unless you already tried that. You can change YouTube titles this way too, before embedding them on Facebook.)
@kamiko70 If you're sharing the video on Facebook using the actual "Share" feature that YouTube provides on this page (the Share button under the video box), it will bring up a window before you post it; then you just left click the description and erase what's in the box. Then you post the video. Anybody can do it. You WON'T be able to do it if you're just pasting the link onto Facebook though. So try clicking the Share button instead.
I can't get enough of this song. It's a modern, appealing nod to a classic style. As for those of you who are complaining about how it's "mindless crap," or whatever, why don't you take the time that you're using to argue with people in the comments for this video to go watch something that you consider to be of "substance?"
Having fame doesn't mean you're any more talented than those without fame.
Thinking otherwise is pure musical elitism bullshit.
Beatles, the Rolling Stones, etc were all great (actually, I still don't know a single tune by the Stones besides Satisfaction - nothing else of theirs is memorable).
But thousands of music composition students throughout the world were and are just as talented during that time.
It was selected to match the gratuitous leggy asian chicks at the start of the commercial. The appeal is a cute teen karaoke girl from hong kong or japan singing like the 5-6-7-8's Woo-Hoo track in the phone commercial in Kill Bill. It worked! Idiot drama queens, get a life!
There is nothing about this that is the 60's. The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, Sabbath, Humble Pie, Cream. Amazing musicians that wrote incredible lyrics to timeless songs.
This is that weird indie garbage thats going around. They think sounding bad on purpose is art, well... it's not good art.
@gttechlife It's foolish to even compare her to those bands. It still has a 60's tone to me; and it's still catchy. Not that "catchy" should be confused with "amazing" or "extremely talented".
But, I will thank you for reminding me that I need to upload the House of the Rising Sun by The Animals.
@gttechlife I love the artists you mention, but the 60's aren't only the last 3 years of the 60s. (Sabbath formed in 68 or 69, and saw success in the 70s.)
The "teenie polka dot bikini" song is from the 60's. The 60s was a decade of surf-rock, mod, and the characteristic "swinging 60's" stuff from Austin Powers, folk, Motown, and much more.
Also, how does this not compare (even melodically) to the Beatles' "When I'm 64"?
@gttechlife Obviously you're not very familiar with 60s music. If you think those acts were the only "style" of the 60s, I'd also venture to say that you've never played an instrument, don't own a radio, don't have parents, and don't have friends.
@mikal Obviously you like to talk out you ass a lot. I know thats not the only style of music in the 60s, but this song is distinctly Lo-Fi Indie and UK Garage, all new genres of music.
Before you fly off the handle remarking on my credentials, Not only do I play guitar, bass and drums, I also write for Maryland's only Music Magazine still in production. Shockwave Magazine.
Proof: Search YouTube for Myles Kennedy Interview, it's the third video on the page and the first Non Featured video

I still have trouble with others such as "My Sweet Lord/He's So Fine" and "Hotel California/We Used to Know". This screamed "Dr. Hook" the first time I heard it. And yes, it is catchy
MidnightMoses69 1 month ago
@HunterMann Nope. "I Write The Songs", ironically, wasn't even written by Manilow, but by Beach Boy Bruce Johnston. One song he DID base on Chopin's work was "Could It Be Magic", in 1973.

@Fender4me76
This song was composed by B.

The Annette Funicello from France...1960's all the way.

This song, though 1960s American style and sung by a French woman, seems to have a definite Japanese cadance. So perfect for a Toyota commercial.

Just an FYI to the person who uploaded this: Facebook won't let this post because they think the tinyurl link you posted above is spam. You may want to change that if you want people to share this. Thanks!
LAdave2007 1 month ago
@LAdave2007 Ah, thanks for letting me know. Facebook blocked adf.ly a while back. When you go to share it and the window pops up with the video, click the description and delete the info in it before posting, it will probably work then. (Unless you already tried that. You can change YouTube titles this way too, before embedding them on Facebook.)
Ninjuggla 1 month ago
@Ninjuggla You cant delete embedded info or descriptions placed by someone else. you have to change your description yourself.
kamiko70 1 month ago

I really like the Deliverance style banjo playing.
I wonder if Ms Delso can squeal like a pig?

It was selected to match the gratuitous leggy asian chicks at the start of the commercial. The appeal is a cute teen karaoke girl from hong kong or japan singing like the 5-6-7-8's Woo-Hoo track in the phone commercial in Kill Bill. It worked! Idiot drama queens, get a life!

She certainly can't compare to a timeless rock classic that I heard recently on 101.1 WCBS FM: Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots "Disco Duck".

There is nothing about this that is the 60's. The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, Sabbath, Humble Pie, Cream. Amazing musicians that wrote incredible lyrics to timeless songs.
This is that weird indie garbage thats going around. They think sounding bad on purpose is art, well... it's not good art.
gttechlife 3 months ago
@gttechlife It's foolish to even compare her to those bands. It still has a 60's tone to me; and it's still catchy. Not that "catchy" should be confused with "amazing" or "extremely talented".
But, I will thank you for reminding me that I need to upload the House of the Rising Sun by The Animals.
Ninjuggla 3 months ago 7
Another cool song she does is "Catch Me A Rat". Better yet Google "Gene Vincent" and listen to his version!
DougThomas80 3 months ago 25
@gttechlife I love the artists you mention, but the 60's aren't only the last 3 years of the 60s. (Sabbath formed in 68 or 69, and saw success in the 70s.)
The "teenie polka dot bikini" song is from the 60's. The 60s was a decade of surf-rock, mod, and the characteristic "swinging 60's" stuff from Austin Powers, folk, Motown, and much more.
Also, how does this not compare (even melodically) to the Beatles' "When I'm 64"?
rrrrrrrush 3 months ago
@gttechlife Obviously you're not very familiar with 60s music. If you think those acts were the only "style" of the 60s, I'd also venture to say that you've never played an instrument, don't own a radio, don't have parents, and don't have friends.
mikal 3 months ago
@mikal Obviously you like to talk out you ass a lot. I know thats not the only style of music in the 60s, but this song is distinctly Lo-Fi Indie and UK Garage, all new genres of music.
Before you fly off the handle remarking on my credentials, Not only do I play guitar, bass and drums, I also write for Maryland's only Music Magazine still in production. Shockwave Magazine.
