  • i love the description. It's so detailed and well-written. Thank u

    lol

  • how long was your hair when you started and how long did ur ugly phase last? not saying your ugly because your very beautiful im sayin how long till they actually started looking like dreads?

  • Waddup Dari! i havent watched 1 of your vids in a while....i forgot how beautiful u are : )

  • yo ur dreads are amzing, but can anybody answer my question i have twist right now and if i just leave em in my hair for a good month and a half will they loc, or do i need to go and retwist them like every 3 weeks or so

  • i love your eye freckles

  • how long do you leave the clips in afterward? also do you sit under a dryer or something when you're finished?

  • stop being all dreamy and fine in your pics then acting like you don't know what you're doin'. LOL! :)

  • lol you needed that retwist

  • @GMagic0818 for reals. i felt like a new person afterwards

  • wats dat ACV u speak of??

  • @Damageb5 apple cider vinegar

  • Have u ever twisted clockwise one time and counterclockwise the next by mistake?

  • Umm....could you message me maybe? On here.....

  • @DARVAEZ you message me :)

  • @BooolieChaqz ha, why is it funny?! this is my chill out relaxing music *moves head from side to side* thanksss:)

  • I wish I was patient enough to sit down and twist my hair. I go to someone instead.

  • love the locs

  • You Are So Beautiful

  • @lboi4 no, you are

  • Welcome back, we missed you (Mac)! Oh hi Dari good to see you too lol...

  • @dportis47 yo! he didnt even have to get shipped off! they took care of him in an hour. replaced all the stuff for free too!

  • @applesandmustard That's what's up! I crashed my hard drive once and the replaced it in a matter of minutes at the apple store! 3 cheers for Apple!

  • Dari looks kinda like an avatar!

she shall be in the next movie AVADAR!

  • @peoplesman13 i AM an avatar!

  • In all how long does it take for you to twist your whole head?

  • @alexiscombes about an hour and 15 mins

  • What are latch hooks used for? =(

  • @Dante121892 the interlocking technique of tightening up the new growth of dreads. some people twist their new growth, while others interlock.

  • =0 you are really pretty nd i woould love to meet you

  • loved the music!!! and your zipper earrings are soooo cute!

  • Your hair has gotten so long, wow... it looks really good

  • I twist my own hair too and man I just know that "Yes!" feeling when it's all over. It takes you an hour and 15 minutes?! It takes me like 4 hours but I have sooo many dreads. This girl counted them. She said I have 246. Dane! I'm just doomed.

  • Interlocking does keep them fresher longer. I'm against it because i fear if they interlock to tight ones dread would get weak. I also think it recede ones hair line. Who wants to look like steevie wonder at a young age.

  • Wow, your locks have gotten so long. I interlock and I get it done every 8-10 weeks.

  • Hey Dari?Question Why you clip your hair so far from the scalp??

  • ur locs are gettin sooo longg! ive been watchin ur videos for about a year now. love em. good job. How long does it take u to twist urs?? takes me like 3 hours..smh. lol

  • yo hair is DUMB long, what are you eating???????????

  • pretty laday!

rocking the hair i'd love to have!

  • i can't wait to get my dreadies done.

  • I'm seriously contemplating on trying it on my own too. I've spent so much letting a loctitian do them for me.

  • Dari how long does it take you to do a full retwist? I know when I did my front my arms were hurting lol they look very nice at least you saved some money in the process.

  • Dread locks are kinda gross. They look all dirty and knotty :(

But for somereason, you are one of the few people it actually fits.

I apologize for the not so nice comment, im still subscribed hehe.

  • I want to try out dreadlocks too but my hair is too damn soft.. is it possible to do this with soft hair???

  • @NemStarz23 It is. it'll just take longer for your hair to lock than others with a tighter curl pattern. :D

  • Great job..(love the music ) :)

  • nice music choice :)

  • Massive difference! great job! your locs are cute!

  • @ohglamour i feel like a new person almost. thanks!

  • I know that's right gurol!! My retwist(s) are the death of me. In actuality I'm going to start doing them more often even though it's "work". Just seems that if you keep up with the upkeep there's less buildup, lint, etc (in my opinion). N E whooo, love your locs...off to retwist mine as well! *smiles*

    (✿◠‿◠) Kokofemme

  • sexy pic at 3:47 :P

  • Good job...you don't need to pay nobody to do that for you. I'll have to learn to have patients like u!

    KP

  • i want to get dreads sooo bad but i dont kno if i would really like them

  • so swole...you could knock out most elephants and giraffes

  • @jumagrue *flex* *growl* *puffs out chest*

  • @applesandmustard "i applesandmustard, i DESTROY!! RRRAAAAH" *knocks over childrens lemonade stand*

  • @jumagrue bwahahahhaha! lemonade stand. that's awesome. i like you.

  • @applesandmustard lol thats a cool evil laugh right there "bwahahahahaaa" lol but yea i like you too *hands applesandmustard a ring pop* (like we in fourth grade or sumthin lol)

  • thats pretty cool, what do u do about ur hair line, do u go to a barber to get a line up or something? i interlock my hair and its not that bad, it takes my like half an hour, an hour at most, but i dont really have a schedule, i just do it when it grows out, but if u dont do it properly it really hurts cause ur just pulling on ur scalp

  • @afran17 i thought only guys get line ups and such. hmmm, no i've never been to the barber before, it's just how my hair grows

  • Sorry if someone already asked this but how long do you have to keep the clips in for?

  • @ZayJahDaV just until it's dry. i usually run a hair dryer over them and then take them out. other times if i do it closer to night time, i'll just sleep in them and take them out in the morning

  • Comment removed

  • Hey - I went through the same thing when trying to mix shampoos and conditioners. I almost fainted when I saw that the stuff I put in my hair turned to wax/creamy crack that wouldn't come out. I used ACV and Lemon Juice and had to do this SEVERAL times to get the gook out. Needless to say, that was the last time I used conditioner or mixed any products...and ACV is my best friend now. Your locs look good.

  • Interlocking is cool. It is easier to comb out when you are tired of having locs. I didn't have to touch up as often. It also gives the effect of a mature loc right away.

  • @monilove5 really? how so? interlocking is essentially like putting knots in your hair right? since you go through the loc every which way. it seems like by just twisting them that'd be easier to comb out

  • @applesandmustard you either go in three directions or around to all sides clockwise. when taking it down, all you do is pull at one particular spot, and section of hair will unfold/untie.

  • Nice locs.

  • @shany9988 thanksss

  • All new growth. Hair is gorgeous. You are too.

  • An hour and fifteen minutes? Mine are about half as long as yours and it regularly takes me two and a half hours. I usually have two films lined up for the process.

  • @DomesticGhost i used to try to watch movies while doing it but i work better if i have a mirror and some music going

  • Your eyes are SO pretty

  • @jojozzy thanks! *rips one out* want one?

  • Yes, the ACV is a dream. If you mix it with rosemary water it cuts down on the vinegar smell and feels pretty good. I made a vid but the audio stinks. (sorry) Give it a try sometime.

  • awesome job, babe. you did a great job. you actually have me thinking about trying to twist my own for the first time. you made it look so easy.

  • @biggrapp313 it is easy! plus you get better over time. it's worth it though.

  • @biggrapp313 DEF twist your own as long as they're not super short. I always see locticians doing the short one with combs and I have NO idea how to do that. I palm roll mine, but you can twist them just like DarDar too.

  • @adihsar naw, they're actually pretty long which is prolly why i'm reluctant/intimidated to take on the task. i think i'm gonna go ahead and do it though. i just gotta find a product i like that won't leave my locks feeling "crispy" and stiff. any suggestions?

  • @biggrapp313 I don't use anything in my hair. I wish i would have done this from jump bc my back locks have a LOT of white spots from buildup as well as winter sweaters and scarves. All I do is wash, condition (Pantene Pro-V Hydrating Curls- love it and have used it since I had a lil afro to now with locs down my back), oil my scalp (I use Jamaican Mango & Lime island oil...light and not greasy), twist (I palm roll) and braid out (because I haven't figured out how to pin them down like Dari)

  • @adihsar i had that white crap in mine too but i colored it with bigen because for a while i thought it was buildup and that i could acv it out but later found out it was actually just plain ol' lint but i think i'm gonna look into those products you named.

  • your face is so intense...hence the face of a woman working her magic, Lovely!!! :O)

  • @mynaps01 ha. that's my "omg i've been doing this too long i wanna be done" face

  • @applesandmustard LOL... :O)

  • this is so funny.--->..(did you hear the chipmunks in the background?)

  • @Mbeebeelove aaaah that bothers me now. i didn't mute the audio for the clips like i should have =/

  • that was the most relaxing video in the world :) congrats :)) i really needed that :) now i'm inspired to start my locks :P

  • @crazeeladie aww thanks. i should've had the sounds of a soft river flowing in the background as well. or a bubbling creek. get them started!

  • jesus Dari ur locs r so long! lol. they look really good. That ACV rinse is heaven sent. i even got my mom to start doin it to help with dandruff. PLZ PLZ PLZ tell us wat gel u twistin with that u dislike! lol

  • Maybe it is the sulfates in the shampoo and conditioner that are the problem *shrugs*

  • @symmetricalastic it was SOMETHING. man it was annoying...i'll never do that again

  • I love the story you put in the description box. I know now to stick with the same shampoo/ conditioner combo.

  • @ed90smith it was so weird! i've mixed it up before but not with those 2 exact ones. but to be safe, stick to the same ones. hmm maybe that's why they add that to the directions on the back of shampoos.....

  • ur dreads r quite splendid. best i've seen on youtube. does it hurt at all once u start twisting at or near the roots?

  • @Ryuchan22 what an honor! nope. no pain at all.

  • nice retwist fellow loc sista look great as always! wow your locs are long how long have you had them now?

  • i'm going to get my dreads started in about an hour. ^_^

  • @Krankdatking did you get them did you get them huh huh huh?

  • @applesandmustard yes ii did =D

  • dang, dari. u made this look so easy lol. it usually takes me like 4 hrs to do my own hair. maybe cuz im still getting used to doing it myself or maybe cuz my locks are still young and short. my hair has been growing for about a yr and its been locking for just about 7 months now.

  • @blaze406 geez! how many locs do you have?

  • @applesandmustard hmmm, yinno now that u mention it i never counted. but i'd say like 100 or so...i'm gonna retwist tomorrow night probably. i'll count it then and prob do an update video! :)

  • loved the music..!

  • @QazWsx093 i have this whole album. i love him!

  • you cute, wanna add me on myspace, or facebook, or somethin like that?

  • @DARVAEZ i have a facebook fan page if you go there and search applesandmustard

  • @applesandmustard Oh so you DID IT! Good for you! :-)

  • Your hair grows that much in just one month?!?! Wow!

  • @160Days2Lose2 yup! well i'm pretty sure some of it is whatever unraveled from the last time i retwisted

  • Dari, try Organics Olive Oil Twist & Loc Gel if you want

its in a green thing and it's not sticky at all

    hopefully it works for you

  • yes! ACV is really good for any build up that you may have. i have a tutorial on it. i tend to get lint build up in my ends on the back of my dreads cus it tends to rub against my shirt. you should semi-freeform more dari. it helps with your hair growth when you allow it to naturally grow. lol and this video reminds me of one of those hair care infomercials with the demonstrations and before and after pics and the bg music.

  • @PrettiBoiShai by semi free form do you just mean let it go wild and free? that seems scary =/ i think i might have too much control over mine, but that's just how i like it. tell me more about semi free forming *grabs a fruit smoothie and haves a seat*

  • @applesandmustard semi-freeforming is when you do not maintain your locs as frequently as others might do. semi-freeforming is beneficial because you are allowing you hair to grow naturally and in other words be free lol. however, every now and then you still do maintain your locs (retwisting, latching, etc.) for example: say you go 2 months without retwisting your locs. then one day you decide to retwist. within that 2 month period your were semi-freeforming. u get what im sayin? lol

  • @PrettiBoiShai ooooooooooh i see i see. i have been enlightened!

  • those are really cute. and it didnt look as if it took long.

  • @iheartcheesenbeer33 thanks :) oh the magic of editing! it took about 2 hours but usually takes me less than that

  • ur hair is getting looong !

  • Xcellent video

  • @reubenbridges thanX

  • Omg Dari, that newgrowth was something majoorr, Lolss. I interlock my dreads && i feel the same way about switching methods too. But uhmmm, your hair looks bomb && those zipper earrings are hot.(:

  • @iNoeeRite it was out of control! zipper earrings are from claires :)

  • i wash and retwist my hair every two weeks too. i use apple cidar vinegar rinse every other time i wash it. use aloe vera shampoo, i dont condition cause it makes my hair soft. and i retwist with organics loc and twist gel. i used to use mango and lime but organics is less expensive

  • @zonetwin lmao is it just me but do u feel a tingle when using acv...and i dont like using oragnic loc and twist cause it leaves flacks in my hair..but im use jml twist gel and also at the same time i use jml to give it a hold..but whatevers good..

  • @Booker1994 yeah i feel a tingle when i use the acv on my locs lol. that means its workin.

  • See, If I got locs. I would get so confused on which way I originally twisted them.Haha.

  • @DannySainthood ha. nah it's not like that. you just....KNOW without thinking about it!

  • @DannySainthood I went to this one lady in Charlotte, NC to get mine done. The silly rabbit twisted em the wrong way!!!! Like how can you not tell? It's SO obvious. It's just a feel. So I went home with a cute style looking all did up. Took the style down and the next day had an afro at the base of my locs bc all she twisted came undone. I was PEEVED!

  • awesome vid i learned something new

  • Lol you know what's funny I just retwisted my hair last night.

I just started doing it.Your hands get really tired but you get used to it

But it's a pain in the ass when there short

    Looking good dari :D

  • @creedman4400 see? i knew that. i got that vibe. my brain said creedman4400 is twisting his hair, so you should too. and BAM. i did! it's way easier when it's short though to me, less heavy too.

  • dam you good at that... it takes me at least 2 hours, and it still don't even be lookin that good... im gettin better though lol

  • @datlibra17 you'll get better! when i first did it i had one clip for each one and they were all crooked and hanging everywhere. it was a mess, but i got better with time :)

  • aye what did u use on ur hair.shampoo and conditioner? and how often do u wash ur hair?

  • @Booker1994

how about you take the time and read the

    info bar! jeez

  • @yellowshelbs0318 fyi....i did read and she said she retwisted her hair every two weeks. she didnt even say anything about washing it:)..........if ya come at me come correct..and do u even have dreads????(african desent texture hair?) but thanks for the comment thow:)

  • @Booker1994 you asked how often she washed..obviously every time she re-twists which is every two weeks or so. and as far as the washing process including shampoo and conditioner.. if you read the info bar it CLEARLY explained in plain ole english what she used! so you need to read correct and dont worry if im coming correct or not! ;D and no i do not have locs...anymore. just cut them off in april!

  • @Booker1994 i do say what shampoo and conditioner i used in the info bar :) but because i'm nice i'll copy and paste it for you

For some reason, I used the Jamaican Mango and Lime Shampoo, with a Pantene pro-v dark and lovely Conditioner.

i wash about every 2 weeks. after swimming though i do a quick mini wash to get the chlorine out though.

  • @applesandmustard what would happen if you dont wash the chlorine out... cause i had got lazy nd didnt feel like it afterwards

  • @dreadhead478 nothing to my knowledge. i get lazy all the time and don't rinse it out until a day or two (or 3) after

  • @applesandmustard ohh ok ..... just makin sure

  • ur dreads are beautiful

  • Yeah...I also heard about the miracles of vineger, but would you recommend just using that to wash your hair.

  • @Blacksoljah i'm not sure. =/ maybe one of the lovely commenters will have an answer for us

  • As much as you've been swimming and sweating, you SHOULD interlock. I like it, because you can measure the new growth more accurately than twisting. And being able to wash my locks as much as I'd like to, without having to redo them is a HUGE plus.

  • @Prophecy2fulfill it seems scary cause it's like tying bunches knots in them. but i know they last so much longer! i need to watch some youtube videos on it to educate myself

  • @applesandmustard Well, I did accidentally tangle up two on the back of my head, during my first attempt. I had to combine them, and they seem to be locking up quite nicely. Plus, I've gotten pretty savvy with the method since then. Do your research, like you said. And if you do decide to try to do it yourself, BE CAREFUL!

  • i retwist my hair sometimes times, but my shoulders get tired quick. yours?.

  • @rome680u1 not really! or maybe they do and i don't notice it cause i want to hurry up and just get finished

  • Beautiful

  • girl look dat growffff! hahah your locks are pretty. i saw this guy at school once and his locks were down to the back of his knees *___* i mean, he was only like 5 feet tall but still! pahahah great vid

  • @spicyeve i bet he sits on it whenever he has to...well- nevermind. but i bet they get in his way!

  • Your locks are getting sooo long girl, u r on a serous growth spurt! You take very good care of your locks and it shows. PEACE.

  • @tjbmom123 think so? i haven't noticed them growing recently. it hink it's just because i see them every day. i can tell in pictures though :)

  • cool :D
