@surrynet: all 68 coronets/super bees have round side markers and all 69+ have rectangle side markers...same for the charger. I assume, you know not much about those cars! and btw. this is a real super bee ;)
-sirens in the backround- officer pulls up to you "boy im giving you a ticket for wreck less driving and unnecessary acceleration." driver "sorry officer i left the line-lock on." sweet car.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree!
You have to own a Mopar to realize what cars are really capable of not these so called fast cars now, Had a 71 340 Duster myself it was not one of the baddest Mopar but was still one hell of a fast car
It's so easy to make a dumbass comment and remain anonymous - I wont do that.A buddy of mine had a '69 Superbee with a 383 magnum, automatic, ram air and straight out kick ass.I remember doing 40 mph with 7 people in the car and we could break the tires loose. I also remember doing around 110 mph up a highway in Kamloops and we were passing people like they were standing still.Thats muscle, the power is what I remember - not this little garbage talk about the cars I love.Dont ruin it for others.
I'm a Coronet fan and owner, the 68s being my favorite. I'd have to say this is a Coronet (model 440) with R/T stripes added. The Coronet came in model 440, Superbee, 500, and R/T. The 440 and Superbee had the same tail lights while the 500 and R/T had the same. The Superbee had the bee logo in the stripes while the R/T did not. Many people clone 440s into Superbees and 500s into R/T because of their similarities to these models.
Why are you a Coronet fan and owner when you could own a SuperBee, I know it's basically the same car but the SuperBee is more high performance, worth more money, alot harder to come by, and have alot better "look" options like scoops and factory rally dash cluster with round gauges which is my favorite rather than the rectangular ones? Not to mention most people take Coronets and try to clone them in to SuperBees but doesn't work in my book because you can't replace or substitute the real thing
You will find that the R/Ts and Superbees with the hemis are going for roughly the same money. The R/T only came w/440 or 426. The R/T was the highest in performance AND luxury. In 68 the power bulge hood came on both R/T & Bees. My favorite tail lights are on the 68 500s/R/Ts, just awesome looking. But the number one reason, CONVERTIBLE. I own a 68 500 convt. with stock 383HP/4bbl/727, the exact engine that came in most Bees. It was 279 made with this HP option. As you said Bee is Coronet.
Yeah the HEMI maybe duh that's simple logic, and they weren't the highest in performance, just luxury, the Bee was the race car, the coronet was the luxury car, and the only coronet 500 convertible was in 68? I didn't know that, and powerbulge hoods suck, compared to the dual scoop hood or the six pack hood on 69 SuperBee's. My 69 Bee is 383 Magnum with 4 speed matching numbers, two scoops on the hood AND Side, kinda rare. And by the way the 383's are much better than 440's in every way.
How can you say the R/T model wasn't the highest performance of the line of Coronets??? EVERY R/T came with either the 440, 440/6pk or 426. The Bee came mainly with the 383 and some 440 and 426. The Bee was the low cost muscle of the big block Coronet line. My favorite Bee is the 69 because of many of the options you listed. The 383 are the least troublesome of the engines which is why I chose it as well. Convertibles came in 68-70 500s and R/Ts.
I'm saying that because it was more of the luxury class coronet body styles unlike the Bee, it didn't have the luxury options you could get with the coronet, that's all i'm saying, I have nothing against coronets at all and sorry if I offended you because you have one, but I have the car and the options I told you and I'm just proud of it. So you like the 69 SuperBee like mine with all the options like mine huh? Mine even has powersteering which I forgot it had which is a good thing it does.
I had a 69 Super Bee and it didnt have any scoop vents on the hood either. The hump on the hood looks to be the same as the one I had, but I at least had the Super Bee emblems on it. I had the 383 Magnum engine.
johntaheri, there is no way on earth this is a charger, it looks nothing like the charger in any way this is either a 68 coronet, 68 roadrunner "cloned", or a 68 superbee, nothing else. You just recieved a phd in what they call "B" body cars now lol j/k.
know your fellow(?) enthusiasts before you launch an attack. if there was a fanboy comment then fine, but I don't see anything offending except 'you're idiots, shut up'.
i had a 69 roadrunner with the 383, the only difference i can see with the body style is the tail lights, mine had the square tail lights (the horseshoes) same hood. sold it for 43k last year, bought a 07 hemi charger daytona "sublime".
My dad has a 69 coronet that he made up to look like a super bee. It's mine now and I'm getting it fixed so it will run. It's black with white rear stripes. How do you tell the difference between a super bee and a coronet? I'm car-retarded.
A superbee is a Coronet. It is the Low Budget High Performance Package. Dodges answer to the Plymouth Road-Runner. Like MadMax said first four digits of the serial are WM21. W indicating Coronet, M indicates Mid Price. 21 designates Two-door Coupe.
@surrynet: all 68 coronets/super bees have round side markers and all 69+ have rectangle side markers...same for the charger. I assume, you know not much about those cars! and btw. this is a real super bee ;)

That is WITHOUT A DOUBT a 68 SuperBee. There was no superbee logo in the stripe until '69. Know your cars before you start making allegations.
