  • But this is amazing. What i would do to go back and see that live!!

  • Stevie looks like hes shitting his pants when he walks on. Bless him.

  • Thats what im talkin' bout...

  • só tem king's do blues...maravilhoso!!!!!

  • the way albert king plays the guitar. to me, he's better than b.b. and stevie. just magic.

  • WTF!!!! Heaven is real!!!

  • None of them are over rated, the just play there own way, and it doesnt matter if they dont play fast or the most complexly. Its about the soul

  • 6:00 albert king

  • All overrated guitarists...srv is the only decent 1. Blues just have to many boundaries.

  • @kiowa216 I suggest that you get some toilet paper and wipe your mouth cos you're talking a load of S**T

  • don't be judging

  • So sad that we don't see pure blues musicians nowdays and we pay attention only to the "trends" of music industry...

  • they could teach a lesson for some new musicians of todays

  • Damn!! Goosebumps . . . so freakin' good . . . .

  • RIP PAUL BUTTERFIELD! Do you guys hear that voice? Good god, what an entrance.

  • what else can be said? GREATNESS PERSONIFIED!

  • Stevie played with Albert and BB have you DUMB Ass.

  • I live inAusin!

  • someone said somthing about being 15 years old, I'm 16 years old and I think this is AWSOME! The best show I've ever seen.

SRV, BB KING, ALBERT KING! OMG!

and john mayer isn't the best blues player today, we god Eric Clapton :)

  • @Live4Guitar1 got* Eric Clapton.

  • @Live4Guitar1 Don't forget that BB is still kicking :)

  • I seen butterfield twice in 70 'I seen bb at the same place. I saw Stevie seven times And Albert once.I have had fun itell you .Jimmie is great and Kieth Ferguson and Kim Wilson. That is some Blues.

  • I bought "In Session" Albert & SRV. A Must have.....absolute gold and the last track is classic.

  • Are you kidding??!! John Mayer doesn't have a clue.

  • to me this is the heaven of blues..

  • It's like taking a front row seat to watch these legends jam.....holy ground.

  • those who disliked this videos should be hanged and chopped with justin timberlakes and Britney spears' CD

  • The Legends of Blues...

  • damn, i wish i coulda jammed with any of those guys. SRV and Albert King in particular. DAYUM i love these guys

  • don't forget Charlie Musselwhite

  • this video along with the program content is owned by Ken Ehrlich Productions.

  • this clip along with the program of A Blues Session is owned by Ken Ehrlich Productions, inc

  • good God

  • a 14 guy here who feels the blues...!i wish i had senn ya ...R.I.P gods of soul/blues :) we owe u ! :)

  • @MrFlokos John Mayer is a fake. Berkley School of Music graduate.

  • @richone99 he dropped out after like a month...if hes good enough for B.B., Clapton, and Buddy Guy, i don't think you have the right to insult the man's playing. even if personality wise hes a tool.

  • @richone99 John Mayer might be a copy of some of the most skilled guitarist ever. But SRV is gone, Albert king is gone, Hendrix is gone, Gary Moore is gone. We almost only have B.B left. If the blues is going to survive, we need guys like John Mayer..

  • @modjiasOnce hearing the great African American bluesmen of the past, I just don't need him, his style and voice is so affected, a rich man's poor imitation of something he can never be (a black man). Why drink pop when there still is some champagne left?

  • @richone99 actully he never graduated from berkeley, and if you didnt already know he most profound influence was stevie ray vaughan... and even jimi vaughan stevie's brother siad that john mayer is the best blue's guitarist today

  • @judoman5899 My mistake, never graduated. J. Vaughn is another of the same white blues imitator type. He would praise one of his own. Again, not that i don't like imitators, impersonators, and good counterfeiters, they have a place in life, just not the real one.

  • The last view of Paul Buterfield

  • @carlox1 He was really a performer. .

  • @carlox1 Not quite I ordered a vhs that came from Argentina that shows him 2 wks before he died

  • Excellent clip, long live the blues

  • im a 15 year old and this makes my soul dance right out of my body

  • RIP all.....I was lucky enough to see them all..... but not on one stage :-(

  • It looks awkward to me whenever I see BB standing while playing lol

  • Long Live blues and rock and roll, the only music that you can play from the soul. RIP SRV, Albert King, and Paul Butterfield. 3/4 gone such a shame. I guess almost all hope is lost for a 15 year old these days.

  • @CacheSeaker we got john mayer and each other man. our generation has a chance if we do somethin.

  • O My God. Listen to SRV Growl, then Albert, the most suttle, and then Paul wail O Lord

Paul has some strong lungs and vocal cords while u are at it. Paul lies dormant and suddenly breaks loose into the finale.

  • Lol Stevie looks like a hobo.

  • Quel plateau !...

  • I think the blues is superior to other genres. It may sound like a cliché but it feels like the blues has a more deeper meaning.

  • oooohhhh sssooooo gooood!!!!!

    mu2

  • It's true that B.B. King probably couldn't fit into most bathtubs, that SRV looked like a homeless man at the time, and that Albert King resembles a fish, however I have never heard any sounds that were more beautiful then these three put together...

  • Amazing!!!

  • seeing them all up there at 4:50 is remarkable.. hard to believe b.b. is now the last man standing.. i especially miss butterfield.. in 65 his 'east-west' was unlike any blues album before it, and more than any other early band (including the animals or stones or the who) set the table for hard rock and heavy metal that would follow respectively during the next four years.. thanks for posting. historic clip.

  • THESE GUYS + BUDDY GUY + FREDDIE KING = The undisputed masters of the blues!

  • I saw B.B. King live last summer! I find it funny (not in a good way- it's very very sad) that I saw the oldest man on this stage, rather than Stevie- RIP! I would give a limb to have SRV back

  • i always thought Albert was a much better player than BB was !

  • @ronnied828 I agree

  • speaking of looks, SRV looks drunk............

  • @Michael81818 He's clean and sober here. First, this concert occurred in '87, and second, the coin rings he wears on each hand are a dead giveaway. Not sure why he looks drunk to you (?).

  • One of the best performances ever.

  • Totally mesmerized...

  • The video and music is Awesome. RIP SRV, Paul Butterfield, and the Velvet Bulldozer, Mr Albert King. We were lucky to have lived in a time when these fine Musicians were around to share their talents with us. I know I am thankful for that. Hang in there, B.B., you have been loved for years and are one of last of a long line of great Blues men. Peace :-)

  • Sure, there was a time when talent was more important than looks. I am glad that finally ended. Thank Gawd we have been stuck in a time that just won't end, where Ignorance, Intolerance, Hatred, are ALIVE and well, and so many people suffering from the dreaded diseases of "Cranial Rectosis", "TheSelfEntitledBlues" as well as a hard to cure form of "FuckingDumbass" They say there is no cure for any of it. Sad.

  • Albert king has an incredible way of striking very few tones to let his guitar tell a story

of course with four legends assembled, you cant go wrong

  • how does one sing like stevie

  • Paul had some pipes! Man!

  • What year was this?

  • @borchseniusgabriel BB King and Friends. April 15 1987. Paul Butterfield died less than a month later on May 4th.

  • @mgman71 Ahh Yes! Thank you!

  • Seriously. Hot damn. The blues.

  • Oh my God!!!! This is gorgous, it has so much power in each note it's not possible to describe! That's gorgeous.....

  • fuck you MTV.. this is real music for ya!! love ya Stevie

  • Clearly!

  • I was a big acoustic pop fan, e.g. Jack Johnson, John mayer etc... But in 1 week thats all changed thanks to watching these guys, all i want now is the bluuuuees, its all I play these days...incredible.

  • My part of town right here.

  • somewhere, someone has to pull the audio from the song and make it sync again.

  • Poor Butterfield...stuck between those two. You can see him struggling to get some harp time in.

  • this is insane... to sad thats freddie died a long time befor!!!!!!!!

  • shit this is insane!!!! but freddie's missin'

  • That's some trio, WOW !!!!!!!

  • @darlene1029

Plus BB, I spoke too soon

  • man....I just found this video but will watch it a few more times!!!!! Damn I wish I coulda been at this show!

  • those were the times of good and meaningfull songs....

not these shitty noise of today...

  • Ever notice the amount of respect blues legends have for one another?

Not an inch of jealousy, pride, or resentment towards any other player, just the blues!

And if you follow their history you realize how connected they are to one another, they all learned from each other and taught a new generation of players, who grow up and give props to the ones who influenced them, tour with them, play with them and become close friends with them!

No other genre would you find this much decency

  • Awful.

  • That is so right! Will those days ever return with so much of the crap we have to endure today?

  • @ukshops no, never...

This and only THiS is gorgeous !

  • Simply amazing! :)

  • Juste .... MAGNIFIQUE !!!!

  • Fucking great!

  • Dear God!

  • Paul Butterfield looks like a skinny version of Stan Van Gundy.

  • this is more than music.

  • This >>>>> G3

  • This is one of my most favorite videos ever, but the sad thing is three out of the performing stars have passed on leaving B.B. King behind!

  • new blues

  • Well said chmiel86 .. I couldnt agree more. Video killed the radio star and video/visual killed the quality of musicianship.

  • Great stuff.

  • camera makes stevie look huge. unless its his clothes. bitchen.

  • This one is one of my all time favorites, when they all start bending the sound is out of this world!

  • man this was a time when artist didnt really play for money, they just played for the sake of playing. They loved to play and share with the world their music talents. Not like people today haha.

  • hard to believe and sad to say BB is the only one of these 4 geniuses left to us... BB is great though!

  • 인류의 보물

  • Wow, four blues legends on one stage! Wish I could've been there!

  • ahhh to be in the presence of genius...

    (ok..time for sleep!)

  • Holy crap, Albert King's triple bend at 6:10...good Lord!

  • OMG - this is the first time I've ever seen/heard this. Absolutely amazing! Love you sweet Stevie!

  • brokethetv

That guy that is effing killing on the harmonica! is Paul Butterfield!

  • Albert King is just the BUSINESS!

  • love Stevie Ray

  • butterfield kicked it in the crotch.

    that's good btw...

  • i'm surprised my head didn't just explode from the sheer talent these four guys display on the SAME stage at the SAME time! talkin bout the greatest of all time!!

  • @rbjake24 Damn straight, his performance is astonishing.

  • fantastic. where was this from and when?

  • BB King and friends. 1987. DVD available as of 2005

  • Talk about a stage. Man what talented musicians. All different tones and great in their own way. I wonder what year this was recorded.

  • BB King Blues Session. 1987. Paul Butterfield died a month later.

  • Hell yeah!!!

  • 75kashmir, this is nice, thnaks for posting it, never listen to this group of guys before ,,great!!

  • Paul Butterfield stepped up and blew them all away!!!

    Butterfield was the greatest!!!

  • I wouldn't say he blew them all away, But he was awesome.

  • @krishotsaucemiller - and likewise you piss harmonica players the f*ck off!!!

  • @ElizabethGS I AM A HARMONICA PLAYER AND HAVE PLAYED FOR 40 YEARS, AND I WOULD HAVE GIVEN ANYTHING TO HAVE JAMMED WITH STEVIE AND BB KING, I SING THIS SONG WITH MY BAND, AND PUT IN AWESOME HARMONICA SOLO WHERE STEVIE DOES HIS WITH GUITAR, GIVES ME AN ADRENALIN RUSH LIKE NOTHING ELSE CAN

  • Great stuff. When/where is this from??

  • More than 5 STARS !!

    That´s awesome

    Was this Pauls last performance?

  • @BluesDfender these guys sweat more talent than over half of the "stars" of today.

  • my favorite part is where Paul takes the last verse. it is just SO powerful.

  • just my thoughts blues brother :)

  • Paul´s got da harp of an angel ...

  • Those were times when talent was more important than looks.

  • @chmiel86 Yeah and BB got more 'tang than anybody. He's got the child support to prove it! ;)

  • I love the sky is crying, these guys are stunning but not on the same stage at the same time sadly, It should have been a stunning track but sadly let down, I think stevie and albert are playing to far to much! I know thats not going to sit to well with some! but hay its there to hear.....

  • rip all of them except bb

  • I am a big Paul Butterfield fan and I agree with jw22345 and 88ragtime.

R.I.P Paul, We all miss you man, miss

    Hound Dog Taylor too.

  • That SRV guy was not to good at comping.

  • these 4 artists, playing this song together, simply epitomize the raw unmitigated passion and feeling of the blues. they hold nothing back and put every fuckin thing they have on the table. its simply amazing to listen to; especially in the times we live in i truly believe that music with this much passion is really the only hope for humanity. we as a species have to strive to find this passion, because we all have it, and when its released, its an unstoppable force.

    simply unbelievable

  • @jw22345 I agree with you completely. I am only 14 but I have an undying passion for the blues. Modern Rock and the Metal and stuff doesn't come close to standing up against the Blues. Blues will come back and when it does the world will be a much better place. There won't be so much hate and anger. And god bless Albert King and SRV. Two of the greatest men to walk the earth.

  • @jw22345 Nice point, very dramatic. Except, today's music industry no longer allows the music go in that direction anymore. It simply does serve there direction.. If Yuo are a Christian in the music bizz your screwed..

  • @jw22345 AMEN

  • i love this gig

  • great.

  • I loved Paul Butterfield, but if you look at him you can tell how horribly he aged by abusing himself with drugs and alcohol, which contributed to his death at only 44 years old. So sad.

  • AWSOME

  • I wish I had the pleasure to see more of these guys live. The only one I've seen is BB! Still playing at like 84! Man, that's just great!! I seen him in his 70's though.

  • Sad that B.B. is the only one of those epic legends still alive. :( At least we've got to keep one. :)

  • BB, Albert, & Stevie are legends and personal faves; but I have to say that Butterfield is great, too.

Ever since I first heard the first Butterfield Blues Band LP, I've had the greatest respect for Paul both as a singer and harp player.

    Interesting video !

  • Look how Paul is working that switch!

Look on google under Rick Danko and Paul Butterfield at Boulder...Paul is working the switch on the 545 through out the gig. Love the Shure 545 for that reason, crank up the amp and blow!!!

  • just perfect 4 leyends of blues

  • Will u lot just shut up and chill! lol

    My fave. x

  • wow how i wish i was there

  • it would be cool if freddie king was there too.

  • Freddie King seems to be separated socially and musically from most of the mainstream blues guys for some reason. Ah well.

  • this video truely defines epic. honestly you add 3 of some of the best blues monsters in history add a mean blues harmonica in there a band with trumpets i mean really this is fucking EPIC

  • 3? Everyone there is a classic blues artist.

    Try Four.

    fyi, check Paul Butterfield.

...as an aside this has nothing whatsoever to do with john mayer.

    jazzguy2k

  • when i said blues monsters i meant guitarists then the harmonic is paul butterfield. but anyway this video really is one of my favorites on youtube

  • Holy VIDEO man!!

  • so this is where john mayer got his shit from

  • Say what ? Jimi was a blues monster.

  • Just out of curiosity, how many Hendrix cd's do you own? Maybe you only have heard(or only like) the commercial stuff wich has marketed to death, if you really want to know how Jimi felt, listen to all of his music, especially the music he did after he became somewhat financially independent, THEN you'll see that he was at heart and at all lights, a BLUES player, even HE himself repeatedly expressed his disgust for playing and recording certain things only because that's what audiences expected

  • wen bb king met jimi hendrix before he was famous he said that he was living the blues

  • God bless Paul B. Damn he was good when he was young!!!!

  • Butterfield would be dead the next month.

  • This is how you do it, Clapton!

  • SRV's tone is UNMATCHED.

  • God, this was the greatest night ever!

  • well he doesn't seem to be playing like he's clean, he looks out of it to me, maybe it's just that their styles didn't blend well

  • God, I have an admiration for anyone who can pick like that with their fingers. Reminds me a bit of Son House's swagger.

  • This is before SRV got clean, It's good, but probably would have been amazing had he been clean, just because than he would have actually paid attention to everyone else

  • oppo

  • What the FUCK are you talkin about check 5 03 or 4 31 youll see he is fucking enjoying everyone else

  • Albert doesn't leave much place for the others here. This is a prime example of how not to share a stage with others. Having to fight to get through or having to give up is not cool.
