I'm inspired Pete, I swapped the rod for the gun 2 years ago and really do appreciate the skill required let alone training you must go through to hold you breath so long and to nail it with a stone shot, can't wait for my first Boarfish.
Why so many haters, he obviously ate the fish which eliminates any problems you should have, he could have just shot every single little fish he saw, but he was patient and selective which shows respect... if you're a tree hugging vegetarian or think this is "inhumane" then why did you open the video? You obviously knew a fish would be shot from the title.
I like greenies! Hug a tree and all that shit! Means that there's more for us NORMAL people to hunt and kill! LOL! The one fish i've seen so many times and looks like someones squeezed off a couple at them before because they are FLIGHTY where i'm from.
odinsb - you think fish sticks grow on trees? You are an idiot.
Upcurrent - keep em coming. Good shooting. Ignore the fools who think meat grows on trees. They are complete idiots. I mean REALL REALLY stupid people. Like almost retarded dumb. Except retarded people don't have a choice, and people like ODINSB just choose not to use their pathetic little pea brains to figure out where their food comes from. 'Cause its obvious food comes from a vending machine. Duh.

Great Shot. Ive been meaning to try out spear fishing, but its getting harder and harder to find game fish that aren't protected anymore here in Texas.
The Guy is obviously freediving as you can see him going up and down. He is a selective hunter as you can also see. To all you boneheads saying otherwise, your idiots. I would rahter have a world full of spearfisherman than netters or Rod and Reel hunters. It is selective, no bycatch, and you take only what you need.
@eebstein if you listen you will hear a sound that all freedivers know, the snorkel filling up with water. Defo free diving. For sure the seas would be better off if we only spearfished!!!
You have more control with spearfishing, in the sense that there is less guesswork and you can actively pick your fish (rather than passively selecting from what you caught). Also you often have more mobility. Its far more demanding than rod and reel - in every conceivable way - but thats something we spearfishers like.
Fortunately the shark thing is only a problem in some parts of the world and not in mine :)
I have no problems with spearfishing as a game, it's just a waste they pick out the biggest and strongest fish of each specie's. It are just those strong and longliving fish (superb genetic material) that take care off millions of eggs wich contains the same strong genetic composition.
For consumption it would be better to target some smaller fish and let the big mamma's at ease.
You have some good points and then many ocean fish cant be eaten once they reach a certain size because they get too tough and parasite filled. The best sized fish for most succulence and least amount of parasites is around 10 LBS.
Most anglers kill the biggest fish and let the smaller ones go.. and the fish size depends more on luck than anything else.. And we dont shoot more than we can eat.. anglers have to hook loots of fish before they get a nice sized one.. so they have to damage a loot of fish.. thats the point of angling.. so what your saying is just bull shit..
I don't think you've understand the explanation. Either way there's a lot of difference in a hooked fish or one with a hole trough his body...
And I understand that you don't agree with my point of view but if you don't have a more civilized way of expaining your arguments wouldn't it be better to shut up ??
odinsb has comments all over the place. sportfishing, hunting everything. i sent him a message to go screw hiself and he sends me back a recipe for broiled wahoo with a sauce made of mirin, soy sauce, wasabi and palm sugar. he also said that his wife posted the message or something. he said sorry and then gave me the recipe. weird
I guess the word is out. My wife is a little crazy that way but Vanguard - don't forget to add toasted sesame seeds about 5 minutes before they're done. And wahoo is best cut into steaks unless it is an enormous fish. Difficult to overcook a steak cut. Bon appetit.

Simply amazing! I just can't get over how incredibly miniscule your penises are. Let me guess, you are all powerless little men that desperately need to hurt things because you were beat up in school. Am I right? Do you beat your wives? Your children? Cowards... angry, dickless little cowards. Now run off and club a baby seal or something.
LOL why r u watching the vid if ur mad at the ppl who watch it. I mean seriously, why are u watching the vids and commenting on them? Are they supposed to shoot the fish with a foam dart so it doesnt get hurt?
nice size... got some patience on you lol i would of got it when u were behind the reef at first, where abouts is that? and u ever tried spearing a groper there fast pricks aye.. good job
well you could take one of these guys on a rod and reel. Just make sure you use an appropriate bait, such as ragworm, lugworm, or peeler crabs. Since it is a bottom species leger the bait on the seabed and have fun
@leomedici haha shame leomedici, spearfishing allows you to target fish you cant get on your rod and reel, species like butterfish that eat the kelp around them. try hanging a piece of seaweed on your hook lol
I'm inspired Pete, I swapped the rod for the gun 2 years ago and really do appreciate the skill required let alone training you must go through to hold you breath so long and to nail it with a stone shot, can't wait for my first Boarfish.

and its less dangerous for sharks

If someone eats what they catch thats cool, spearfishing only gets a dozen fish at most. A fishing boat kills millions.
But,If someone kills somthing to hang on thier wall, thats fucked.
