Someone know name of the song in the second part of video? time: 1:18+? First is Chuck Berry - No particular place to go....But the second one i don't know.
You might be surprised to discover how many American cars were actually manufactured in Canada, where GM, Ford, and Chrysler have had plants since the early 1900's. Canadians not only built, but bought and drove all these cars since new, so they have every right to own and restore these classics today. This 'American only' talk is nonsense. Can only English people own Shelby Cobras since the AC Cobra bodies came from England??
i had a 59 el camino and every time i was getting gas someone would come up and tell me a story about the wings making it lift at high speeds. i never had that experience with mine,i think it was more a case that they didnt handle well with the stock suspension while going fast.i lowered mine and installed sway bars with performance shocks and it was a big improvement.
@IwontConform Dumbass! if you knew better you would know that "spics"!! Restore and bring back to life many old cars..Cars that other people have junked. A lot would have been turned into cheap steel.Do I agree what some of my people do to these cars,NO. But they're restored and saved. All you have to do is repaint and stock suspension. Now on the other hand! people cut and modify body parts for racing. The 68 camaro has been destroyed and Rockabilly's cut and shave parts. "spics" don't do that!
@IwontConform i mean hydraulics, frame wraps real paint jobs plus all that other shit you said you must be new to cars hotrodders do worst mods then lowrider guys that sometimes cant be undone i will pick a lowerider anyday of the week to undo. i work at a bodyshop so i know first hand you have no clue what hotrodders do to there cars its crazy. i use to think the lowrider guys where the ones fucking up cars its the hotrodders that fuck up cars that end up in the junk yard or become parts cars
@XboobtubeX wish they had this much imagination in cars made today... they're all like boxes with wheels. I own a PT Cruiser which does have some style and it's retro... but would LOVE to see something like this on the road again!!
i love the continental kit it makes the car i wouldnt change nothin, haters everywhere are just hatin cause they dont have anything as nice, if u dont like something then go get one youself and dont put a contenental kit on it, i think it looks good
Had a convertable...The front end would plow under in a hard turn, and at high speeds the backend would get squrrillie...Chevolet reduced the wing size for 1960, but I still love the 59 for style...Beautiful car!..
@XboobtubeX I wouldn't say 85 miles an hour was racing, but at that speed, the back end got loose...Wasn't only myself that had that as a concern, it was well documented and written about...There was also concern about the dash with each instrument panel pointed as they were, also the 60 was the same...Injuries during a crash...Would love to cruise in it again...Top down, three speed on the floor
The front of the 59 has such a different look. I've always thought the front of the car was so nice looking. Nice car. It's nice to see some appericating the classics.
my uncle had a 59 that came out with a 348 and they changed it to a 409 with a 6 pak it was nice a this one but it was new back then and he had a wihte one but wrecked on a brige
First off, Speak like a white man. Second, Years ago In the "ghetto" you where most likely to see a Biscayne with fender skirts. Full dressed Impalas were found in the ethnic white niehborhoods. The connie, skirts, spots. antennas, was classic East Coast Mild Custom. Don't let the fuckin Lowrider Magazine RE-WRITE history.
when my mom had me in 1964 my dad drove her in a snow storm 22 miles in the mate to this classic, man you have one great looking ride here, all the best with her. sweet fucking car. :)
America stopped building real cars many years ago. How many mechanics remember the plates rivited on the firewall that read "Made In U.S.A"? If you want to buy & drive a REAL American car today, you'd better start combing the junkyards and start restoring some of those old classics before more get put through the crusher. And another thing, you'd be shocked to learn just how many old American classics are being sold & exported to other counteries every year!
Thats fair comment. The Vet is still American and is a real icon. I would love one but the price of juice in England makes owning one too expensive. I'll carry on enjoying my Crossfire [American car built in Germany with German parts]!!!!
You're right, but this is like other countries take off their hats to this great skill of amercan car builders in former times. Just have a look at Sweden, the US Car communitiy is so passionate. It's like the world loves US Oldies, cause their just godlike.
@eldorado62 yeah, and its a travesty. These cars are for americans, and they should be sold only to americans.Thats why i encourage americans to restore their old classics or buy old classics so that these wonderful cars remain in the good ole USA where they belong
I agree on the continental kit. A continental kit should look like it belongs on that car and not just something hung on the back.. Some cars look good with a continental... 59 chevy is not one of them.
she's a real beauty. love the rare spotlights and yes, they are a correct dealer installed option.
'59 was the last year Chevy offered the Continental Kit. Some dealers tacked them on '60 Impalas that had the 3 piece bumper. I love the color combination.
I remember comenting on this beautiful car a few months back, I always wanted a tripower 348 59. After looking for years i finaly found one 2 weeks ago in Virginia. I got it shiped to California were i live. I plan to have it frame of restoration complete in less than 2 years. My pops and I will doing all the work! We have completed a 70 chevelle, now time for the new project. The best thng about the car is, im the 2nd owner.
good luck w/ ur project u picked a great car to restore, im lucky enough to be restoring a couple 59s for my landlord, we have a biscayne 99% restored and are starting on an impala...it is rough....by far the best looking car GM ever let roll off the assembly line
I always wondered how a 1959 Chevy would look with the tail lights of a 1960 Chevy? Well anyway, I like them better than the over rated '55,'56 & '57s
I had a 1959 Edsel and thought if I could have "this" from the 1958 and "this" from the 1960.....? I could make a monster! lol
Nice '59. I am finishing off my 2dr hardtop and should have it done this summer. It looks like your from PA also. I am up in Wilkes-Barre. I need a few parts if you could help. I stripped 2 59's and I have lots of parts if you need also.
