Such a moving movie.......To think this really happened to someone, makes you think about how fortunate we all are. Anne was so brave. It takes a lot of courage to know that you've chosen to die. But there's no way she died in vain. Anne, wherever you are, I respect you and I hope more people do. This proves we need a new Law in the UK. If God says we have free will, then surely we could use it to end our own lives? Having to travel to another country to end your suffering is ridiculous.
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
ok so now ive cried at that film i never have to watch it again. wanted to prove that i wasnt a heartless old cow who doesnt cry at things like that and i think i have now mean as i just cried a lot
Awful that this country is still so backward in the basic human needs and rights-animals are treated far far better than we will ever be ,I do hope the law is changed .
My god that was incredible. I can't imagine how the 'real-life' family would have felt at that pivotal moment at the end, but it really was heart-wrenching. What a powerhouse performance by Julie Walters. Bravo.
I can't say how upsetting I found this...but I think what got me the most was when her children started calling her Mummy again...like they were little children...
WHY can't this be legalised in the UK??? My uncle and father both had unbelievably hard and painful deaths because euthenasia is a crime over here, and they were both too sick to travel abroad and die with dignity.
Something needs to be done to help psp sufferers and others who are suffering and wish to end it all... :'(
I was so incredibly moved when I saw this on TV. Julie Walters does an amazing performance, and I completely support giving terminally ill people the right to die.
this is without a doubt the most moving piece i have seen in my life, i cannot stop crying, even if i tried, it iso emotional and heart reallly goes out to her and her children
Does anyone know what music is playing here, at the start of this clip. It's a formidable piece that really suits the film.
An excellent film with amazing actors. Dr Turner is a very admirable lady, her courage, im sure, is admired by all who have come across her and her story.
I cant believe it happend to both parents as they say in the film a one in a million chance, it must of been something in there genes. Its a fascinating story but very sad ,
Of course the risk is much, much higher than one in a million for blood related relatives who suffer from neurological diseases... even those like "Multiple sclerosis" that are not directly inherited, if you have a sibling or parent or even more distant relative with the disease you are much more likely to develop it yourself. I see where your coming from though, Dr Turner and her husband were related by marriage, so there was no blood connection... Yes I agree, Pretty unusual and terribly sad.
This was excruciating! Which means tremendously well-acted. Just a few days ago I was laughing my ass off at the musical of Acorn Antiques with Julie Walters as Mrs. Overall. Now I'm crying my eyes out.
I cried the second time of watching this it is incredibly moving, and what anne turner would I think have wanted.
To publicise the fact that we are not allowed to be given the right to die with some dignity in this country is awful. The law needs to be changed to prevent people from having to endure and suffer such degenerative and terminal illnesses.
My thoughts are with this family and any others who have psp sufferers in their own.
I can't describe how moving this drama was to me. My heart goes out to the bravery of Anne, and her family, and those families who are having to deal with this today.
Such a powerful movie. The sad part is that this movie presents the situation with much respect and dignity and yet the reality is that most of the world looks down upon the this with disgrace. If someone is suffering physically and no longer has a quality of life it should be their own will. I'm sure many people who want to go this way would choose to live wonderful lives without pain if they could but to be trapped in a physically ravaged body for years and years is no way to live.
i had heard about this and wished to see it i never knew what it was about and julie walters plays such an amazing part in this and it has made me laught and cry so much an amazing story portrayed by an amazing actress xx
the first time that i saw this in school i nearly started to cry Julie Walters is an amazing actress and tells uss really what people accually have to go through and im soo glad ive seen this film as i was told iht was very emotional and such a truee storiee
I cried my eyes out when I watched this on BBC1 and its no different now watching it again. So emotional and thought provoking. Julie Walters is so amazing in this role. The pride of British acting. Something has to be said about the filming aswell. The script, the locations, the cast, totally amazing story. I hope the children from the real life situation are living happy lives.
I think we all know there are varying degrees of reason for such a procedure as well as for those who take it into their own hands. The hard thing is when it is personalized. It is difficult to hear a person ask the philosophical question of should someone have the right. Yet in the end the philosophical question must be asked and rules or laws should be clear as abuses can obviously occur without them. It would be interesting to see various laws over such a topic across many nations.
I thought Julie Walters was absolutley brilliant in this film, best acting she has done in a while. She's one of my favorite actresses and i'm only 16. This film was really good, but it made me has cry at the end. boo hoo
wow. i really don't know what to say. This had me in tears the entire time! It was very moving: Julie Walters was fantastic. Thanks so much for posting this!
I remember watching this in my rs lesson at school as we are studying euthanasia-i cried my eyes out!fantastic acting and a movie that asks us alot of questions.

Thank you for posting this movie. My mom passed away from PSP January 29/08 after the most terrible suffering which lasted years. My family was devastated and still is from the effects of this disease. I wanted to see this movie and didn't know if I ever would be able to. I cried so much. I think seeing it helped me release some of my grief. You are an angel!
My god mother has PSP, I understand how difficult it is to watch a loved one go through something like this. I couldnt even imagine what it would be like if it was my mother. My heart goes out to you, the bravery of Anne and her family is breath taking. I just wanted to say I cried the whole way through also and agree with you that it helped to watch xxx
Where I live, I do not have English TV, so a very big thank you to gicandido for putting this on youtube. A brilliant play, very well acted and had me in floods of tears. I don't think I could be so courageous! God Bless the Turner Family.
It's not only touching movie. It's a very good movie as well. This story is full of true and real suffer - subjects that modern cinema usually doesn't want to talk about, because it's to difficult and needs thinking. Moving drama with Julie's beautiful acting. Thank you Gisele :)
it's so a sad movie, ilove this movie ♥
