For a time lapse you sure changed the camera's position an hell of a lot. Was that to change the battery or memory cards I imagine? Was it not hooked up to AC?

I was going to ask why you kept moving the camera, but I guess with 8000+ photos you probably needed to empty the media card.
Although, if this is the case, for future videos I recommend a larger memory card. You should be able to fit 8000 video-sized pictures on a 16gb card. I say video-sized, because you don't need high mega-pixel for video.
This was a great idea for a video though, makes me want to do something similar. Inspired!
@DekonR Actually, we had one netbook doing this and one doing a live stream EXCEPT that the live stream kept dying (wireless driver problems) meaning that I'd have to pull it from the box on the shelf and the time-lapse netbook invariably got nudged.
