i think the qwerty keypad is kinda overkill with this one.. remove it and the phone would be thinner. plus typing with a qwerty keypad using thumbs is actually kinda difficult. i used to have a phone with a qwerty keypad and it took me ages to compose a message.

Remove the qwerty keypad and you get a disfunctional iphone. Keys are much quicker to type text and email messages with ( the first time). Do you know how many times someone with an iphone has showed off everything but when needs to write, is embarrassed to do so?!

I've been viewing videos for the X1, and all I see are the same demos showing that screen with several square icons. Then they show the back, and then show the qwerty keyboard and landscape mode. I hope that one of them would at least show us how to make a phone call or text message or enter a calendar event instead of showing us over and over again what the phone looks like. It looks nice and we can see that already. Now let's see if it can actually make a call.

You are right on with this observation. There is a canned demo that everyone is doing with this phone - they all seem so excited about the "panels", etc. I am much more interested in what the phone and web browsing experiences would be like. Those are the primary factors I am looking for over the fact that it has screen that is fairly comparable to the iPhone (slightly smaller, but higher resolution). The Xperia is also at a disadvantage on storage, since you have to use micro SD cards.

2. they will first release it in about 6 months, or more, and therefore the UI isn't ready.

iphone is a good product but once you get hold of it it becomes a very boring device. i gave my iphone to my wife because the apps that you could install into it are very limited. i love the touch interface though but it doesnt have 3g and using the gprs sucks. i still love my P990i and my HTC.

hopefully, if this xperia becomes available we could see its potentials. WM still is the best...

It's a bit odd though as to why XPERIA has smaller screen, yet 2x better resolution than iPhone!
