  • This is really helpful! Just wondering how you achieve a strong depth of field, and how do you get to these special menus? Also, would you consider the EX1 as outdated?

  • excellent information!!

  • I heard this camera is going drop 2 thousand dollars in two years due the fact there is already a ex2 im hoping this is true cause I really wanna buy it

  • it's a awesome camera, i have had mine for 3 months

  • Is it heavy and is it worth it?

  • Hi Nice footage. I own a HVX200 and am thinking I am going to sell it as it just produces so much noise and grain in the image no matter what I do to fight it with light. i was wondering how well the PMW-EX1 is with grain and noise in the image, especially in dark shots? Thanks.

  • It does very, very well in low light. So does the Sony Z7, incidentally. The Exmor DSP is AWESOME in any of the newer cameras. Then again, I'm not at all a fan of the HVX, it's noisy, grainy, and too soft for my taste.

  • Thanks for the info...yeah...I am actaully scared to actually use the HVX on anything important now as the noise is so apparent even in good lighting conditions. I will probbably sell it and go for the Sony instead. If you go to my page and look at the music video I just stuck up you can see how bad the grain is even in sunny outdorr shots. Was so dissapointed when I got the footage back on the computer. Im hoping the Sony will beat it hands down. Thanks.

  • The EX more than beats it hands down. The Panasonic is 960 x 540 at the sensor, they BS everyone on the bitrate, and because of the small sensor, the "4:2:2" that they claim is equal BS. Sony EX is full-raster, has incredible noise-reduction/processing. I liked Panny products until they misled the world with the HVX.

We'll be posting some Z7 and EX comparisons soon, in low light too.

  • Thanks for that...I am just looking around now to see where i can sell my HVX200 at a reasonable price...only a year old so hopefully wont make a huge loss. I also use the canon xha1 and its great even under a street light at night...just turn gain to manaul...select 0 and perfect no nooise at all. Panasonic has really missed that vital step here me thinks. So I hear the Sony does the varible frame as well? Also have you heard of anyone putting the files in to adobe premiere yet? thanks again.

  • Adobe Premiere CS3 now fully supports .mxf files, so there is great support for the EX and XDCAM HD.

Sony has variable framerates to 60fps.

  • great news as just previously purchased cs3. does it scale down to SD okay? As I would mainly be doing stuff at the mo that is out putted to normal DVD discs and not HD?

ah so they mxf files like the hvx200?

  • When is the DVD going to be available? Do you go over how to convert HQ 1080i to DVD in Sony Vegas? Thanks. Fan of your videos for many years.

  • I'll be getting this as soon as it's available. That price is w/o a doubt completely acceptable to me. If you're spending 6500-7000 on this camera, and you're not willing to spend 79 bux on training, then maybe you don't need to be buying this camera :)

  • Is the DVD only in english ?

  • I'm hoping to obtain one of these cameras later in the year, I think you've just got yourself a customer for your DVD! Superb.

  • Seems interesting! How does this DVD compare to the Vortex Ex1 dvd, besides price?

  • The price on the DVD is 79.00 for over 2 hours of training

  • interesting clip,i want to get this dvd but price is prohibitaly expensive!

    thanks for posting
