  • they shouls have platform screen doors to prevent poeple from falling on the tracks.

  • @maintguy69 The Acela does not stop here at Kingston. The Northeast Regional does. The closest stop for the Acela Express is Providence, 10 or so minutes north. MrZrk123 has it right on where it stops.

  • silver bullet is stil faster

  • I'm guessing they warn people that the Acela is apporaching as these trains are fast. Compared to Australia's.

  • might want to go to the website, all schedual and stops has changed since last month

  • Regional--- yes it does make all them stops the Express doesn't though. I ride from Penn Station to Washington DC alot and thats Penn Station NYC not the NJ 1

  • Regional--- yes it does make all them stops the Express doesn't though. I ride from Penn Station to Washington DC alot

  • Acela doesn't stop in RI the stops are Boston - New York - Philadelphia - Washington, DC that's it all other stations are a straight through

  • @maintguy69 It does 2 stops in boston, one in westwood mass, providence, new haven, i think stamford, and newark penn in NJ, as well. I think there are a few more, but those are the ones I know of for sure. I ride the acela about 3 or 4 times a year for the past 5 years.

  • @maintguy69 this is the Acela's schedule, Boston, South station, Boston Back Bay, Route 128 Mass, Providence RI, New Haven CT, Stamford CT, New York Penn, Newark Penn, Metropark NJ, Trenton NJ, Philadelphia PA, Wilmington DE, Baltimore Penn, BWI, DC

  • @maintguy69 Actually it stops in Providence.

  • there is 3 Acela's that go through that station, 2 of them stop and 1 is a express that doesn't

the 1 you see going through the station is on it's way to Boston Mass.

  • @thepianoplayer2 first he descovers the area of the train than estimates the power of the force of the object, and than caculatos the total speed. its simple

  • Very nice stuff, gotta do Kingston again someday as my vids came out all shaked up and blurred, these train speed make me shudder.

  • how can you tell how fast its going

  • What would happen if you put a Styrofoam baby buggy in the track? :-)

  • If the speed limit was 150, wouldn't the engineer get busted?

  • @Amtrakrailfan23 There's usually a 3-5 mph Overspeed Limit for trains that are running late to make up time. For example, the Overspeed Limit on the Empire Builder is 82 mph in a 79 mph zone.

  • Wow!

  • how manypassby here per day?

  • Mmmm, love your Acela coverage at Kingston, just wished the Acela could go 160, (just a thought), :P...

  • wow what a fun job that would be

  • Awesome! Really fast!

  • If you think my comments are so bad they shouldn't be visible, then fine. They are good. >:(

  • Stop being so arrogant. I reserve the right to do what whatever the hell i want with my videos. If anyone is going to tell people what to do, its me myself and I. Stop being a dick.

  • nice video i have one of an acela going 168

  • who was the other railfan?

  • I would be scared to wait for a train at Kingston, but it sure is the spot for railfanning!!! fantastic video dude.

  • Amazing!

It's just a really excellent high speed railway express! Just like the one in my country.

I hope that I can ride on it somedays. Acela, how wonderful :)

  • What is Acela's true unrestricted top speed? 200?

  • the last i herd it is 200. but the rail system wont handle 200..plus they say there is way to much train traffic to do that. i watched it on a vid one time talking about the northeast corridor. i cant seem to find it now.

  • Well, as I've said in other posts, it's a shame there isn't greater political will in this country for a true high-speed rail system completely independent of all other rail roads - Europeans probably just sit back and scoff at our relatively abysmal efforts

  • yea...the acela can go up to 200mph but the tracks wont allow it. plus there is to much traffic to let em do that. it would be nice to one day see tgv or euro star operate at speed here.

  • nice shots...:)

  • Pretty awesome! That's is something I want to see! And ride!

  • I needed to ride that train one day. And where do you catch at?

  • The Acela Express runs between Washington DC and Boston MA. To get the true high speed experience, you need to ride it between NYC and Boston. It's a fun train to ride on, but in my opinion, it's not worth the extra cost....it's not a cheap train to ride

  • Oh ok. Thanks Man. You rode on that before?

  • Yeah...I used to work for Amtrak back in 2004-2005 before there were a ton of job cuts in Washington DC....

  • Thats Cool Man. I glad that you Enjoy the ride man.

  • Very soon my car (1999 gs converted to a Type r) will be able to keep up with that train. The cost wil be about 6 grand but it will be sweet. I will admit it would last for about maybe a min. Then I would have no choice but to admirer the accela . What a SWEET TRAIN

  • OK I amit, I'm stupid. Just when do these trains STOP to pick up or drop off someone?

  • Hmmm, first you gotta stand in the middle of the tracks with a big poster that says stop! Pick me up! and hope they dont hit you.

  • They never stop. It's true perpetual motion and the passengers on board actually paid for living quarters to spend the rest of their days in motion on the NEC!

  • It's sad I say this, but... I'd do that!

  • The Northeast Regionals stop at Kingston but not the Acelas.

  • @doginstine At the pre-designated stops. The Acela Express only stops in select cities along the Northeast Corridor.

  • @doginstine Well, the Acela doesn't stop at Kingston, RI only at major stations like Wash. D.C. BWI Airport Route128 Back Bay South station Newark, New York City are a few. Only Amtrak Regional's can stop here. The Acela has doors that only open on high level platforms. The Regional's can let off passengers at both high & low level platforms like shown here. MBTA is also planning on extending service all the way down to Kingston. They've already opened their new TF airport station in Providence!

  • @doginstine ummm...do you know what an "express" is ??

  • i want to ride on that train so bad. nice vid!

  • Damn that would be kinda scary standing there!

  • uhm...fast

  • If you filmed this when I think you did (May,24th 2008)? Then I was on that train!. And It was indeed a fast ride :)

  • wooo-man i want to try that. from south sta to nyc. hows the seating on that . i hear its cool. let me know please. post more vids too if you can. today is -7-2-09.

  • Its pretty good, they are making them all into leather

  • @peteboy1113 acela's awesome. normally on amtrak, you get coach or business class, depending on how you pay, but on acela, you get business class or first class. and youcan even have a table if you want, for a laptop(acela has wifi)... it's worth the extra money.

  • @brendoncardinal Acela's awesome? Ride a Chinese HST to see 'awesome' !!

  • @ccolimon ya it does pvd

  • Behind the yellow line? If I where there you would probably find me hugging a pole for dear life!!!!! (-;

  • Ya know, either the speed of this train (which is filmed much closer to it) is way over-rated...

Or "UP 844 by Celilo 70+mph" (search it) Is being way under-rated. It's a far longer train, and takes only 2X as long to get through the same point. Not only that but being filmed futher away makes it look not as fast.

I have no doubts on the top speed of Acela, but I do have doubts on the speed of it in this video.

  • i watched that video, and the UP train was three cars longer and took over twice the amount of time to pass than in this vid.

acela was much faster in this video

  • Cool! That's fast.

  • Thanks!

  • that dude in the red shirt is an idiot

  • So cool!

  • Dude, your videos blow all other train videos out of the water. Kudos.

  • Thanks man!! I really appreciate the comment!!!

  • Wow that train was moving

  • The engineer that works this train hates the horn, ive only seen them blow it like 3 times all year, they never blow for stations and give barely audible toots at crossings

  • Damn thats fast!!

  • ohh i love the sound the CSX makes when traveling through my town

  • this is cool

  • what kind of camera is this please reply

  • Sony Handycam HDR-SR5 Full 1080p HD

  • That's actually 4 mph over the limit of 150 mph on that segment of track. Amazing! :-O

  • yea! i may be going back on tuesday so check back later this week for more videos!

  • Nice! But that looks kind of like 130mph at most.

  • I had a radar gun, if you dont believe me, look @ my other vids from Kingston

  • Oh I thought you were guessing. Does the wind from the train suck you in alot? Because even here in Florida when they pull into the stations at about 30mph, the trains still suck in newspaper and all the junk on the platform.

  • The wind doesn't suck you in. The wind that's displaced by the lead loco (or cabcar) will push in whatever direction the wind comes off the train. W/ the streamlined Acela, it's in the direction the train is traveling. W/ the blunt cabcar, it's perpendicular to the train. Mythbusters proved this.

  • Great camera work! Man I wish I could see trains more than I do :-(

  • This train is made in Canada by Bombardier Transportation who are the suppliers for TGV also.

  • The Acela was indeed built by Bombardier in Canada, with Alstom providing some components. Alstom builds the TGV's in France.

  • awesome shot! one of the fastest acelas i have seen!

  • Dang! That's the fastest Acela I've seen

  • nice who was that in front of you videotaping?

  • Amtrak passes though 79, track speed, and i get scared!

  • Track speed in my town for the acela is 90, and 80 for the regionals. LOL

  • Yikes, and I thought 80 through Lockport was fast!

  • Yah lol

  • You remind me of my brother. He thought 80 through New Hyde Park was fast too.

  • thats nice like to put my cam under that

  • Your cam fell over at 75MPH. I dont think it can take 150! :P

  • That is the fastest I've seen a train go on the corridor. Excellent work!

  • Thanks :)

  • That's F****ng FAST...

  • Darn Right!!!!

  • Nice video! If this line had the same proper right-of-way infrastructure as the TGV (and laws about operation), then (in some spots) I bet this train could do 100+ mph MORE than this! Sorry, about if my recent comments seem intergalactically weird, I intend (and promote) no harm.

  • I agree, this train and all other Acelas should be upgraded to TGV-like conditions, 300-321 km/h (186-200MPH) for shorter trip times, all they need to do is upgrade the tracks and modify ACSES to international standards and higher speed codes up to 250mph

  • That has nothing to do w/ trasportation though.

  • The Acela equipment simply isn't designed for it. Given the trainset's weight, I'm sure there'd be serious truck hunting/stability issues. The Acela truck and suspension components already require frequent replacement at existing speeds.

  • Always love seein the highspeed. Keep em coming broseph!!

  • Congrats!

  • Thanks :D

  • that was quick

  • Sure is flying alright

  • I think that's the fastest run I've ever seen.
