  • the problem is that he can't go down to the minors without it exposing him to waivers...and being one of the fastest players to reach 50 wins in his career and sure that his problems lie simply in his mechanics and rust due to 10 months spent away from a major league game it's almost a sure thing that another club would pick him up.

  • The first year that Chien-Ming Wang pitched for the Staten Island Yankees, 2000, his number was 40; the second year Wang pitched for the Staten Island Yankees, 2002, his number was 17. I originally thought that they should had retired number 17 for Wang because he had a better season in 2002 than he did in 2000, but a year after number 40 was retired for Wang, number 17 was retired for Robinson Cano, who played for the staten Island yankees in 2001 and 2002.
