i agree with olasoigregg. the music in THIS castlevania is by far the worst. Cotm and AoS music was so much better. the music in this game almost makes me want to shut off the game whenever i play it.

Ssame here. I couldn't stand it. The levels were kind of run-of-the-mill too as well as the COTM-esque story with your rival turning to the dark side then having to fight him to turn him back... Worst of the gba Castlevanias hands down in my opinion. Not bad but there's nothing I fondly remember about it.

@asheng90 I realize your comment is a year old, i'm unfortunate to have just gotten my hands on this game, but in my playthrough i found it's really easy to clear a room using the wind spell book with the cross. it creates a shield of crosses that last until they hit nearby enemies. it doesn't cost much magic to use and by the time you've used all the crosses, your magic meter is practically restored again.

The weird thing with this game on GBA is that it has awesome sound effects and all yet the music sounds like 8-bit NES game music. It's weird since it came out after Circle Of The Moon that had awesome music and compared to other GBA games...it's pretty weird, was it not developed by Konami?

Harmony is one of favorite castlevania titles. i enjoyed the macabre and gloomy atmosphere...the music wasn't half bad. To me, Harmony had the most gloomy castle of them all. The rest were all beautiful and fancy, especially in symphony.

well, since I lost a lot of time in some bosses fights and had some hard time picking some upgrades I guess about 25 or 30 minutes can be improved in this run, by picking other magic books or using another tatics perhaps 20 minutes, or even more. That´s cool, you´re practicing for a run =)

I will be using your videos as a guide when practicing. Practice should take about a month to get all the basics down. It'll take some time to get all the recording equipment anyways(guessing you use gameboy player and dvd or capture card?)actual speedrunning will take about another month. So I should complete this in around 2-3 months time if everything goes good. The completed run will be upload to youtube so let you know when it is completed.

I like how this game didn't use sampled instruments for it's music and used the FM synthesis instead. It gave it that sorta old school Castlevania feel.

It's been about a year since i completed the game all the way, i think i left my guy at level 54, and have gotten all 5 tomes, including the summoning tome, as well as all the relics and collectibles. I played casually though so i think you speed running this is pretty cool.

It happened to my AoS pack. Apparently save files are stored with an internal battery, so if that battery runs out all your saves will be gone and you can't make any new ones.

I thought you could send your cartridge back to Nintendo for battery replacement, but I haven't bothered with it yet.

They were using PSG channels rather than the superior PCM channels used in most GBA games. IGA said that his team was working with the GBA for the first time, and they didn't know the GBA's capabilities.

Regardless, I love the music. The gloomy atmosphere of the game was great, and the music really helped.

The harmonies and the melodies in HoD arent that bad, the quality is somewhat fraggled...but I can still get something out of it. As for the game, I got it with Aria of Sorrow on a double pack. I preferred AoS to this hands down.
