Great recording of an underrated and little known Verdi opera jewel Giovanna D'Arco, or Joan of Arc. Joan's life and death are definitely dramatic material for an opera...I don't see Caballe as being Joan-of-Arc ish (as compared to Callas, Dimitrova or Sutherland) but she does a fabulous job at any rate and hers is a dramatic coloratura with great technique for this kind of singing. Caballe did the most number of lesser Verdi operas more than any other soprano
