  • Never shoot motor sport like this..Totally incorrect information.

  • @gearsau this is for shooting video on a D90, you have to use the live view screen not the viewfinder. In order to get smooth transition you need to hold the camera like this. If you have another technique that our viewers can benefit from please help out as this old dog loves learning new tricks!

  • Question mate.. dont you pan looking through the viewfinder? I was always told not to pan using live view, whats your thoughts on this Jasin as obviously you prefer live view (Im just thinking of my eye strain thats all)

  • @WarrenAckary180 Warren if you watch the video it's actually an instructional about shooting dmovie not action stills.

  • @jasinnikon Ok, apologies I thought it was "panning" for a still.. I was going to say!

Thanks for that buddy.. I never thought of doing a dmovie like that, I tend to get close to the LCD.. too close.. ta and have a great time.

  • yes very dissappointing not one sample photo : (

  • no sample pictures,how fun

  • Hi Jasin i have just come back from a 4 day stint at the gold coast Amourall 600 (the same track by the looks that you shot this vid from). It was an awesome weekend however not being accredited yet I found it very difficult to shoot throuhg the safety fence at such fast moving ojects such as V8 touring cars

  • @eggs640adv dude that is so true, they really need to make some sort of platform for the prople paying to go to these events.

  • mykatamari, it all depends on what type of Hunter you are and the trophy you desire...

  • You shoot fast moving objects with a gun, not a camera.

  • @mykatamari a gun called eos 1D, that is!

  • Nice nice! Thanks for the tips!

I just got a D90- upgrade from the D80. I haven't played with the movie mode yet, but really looking forward to it!

  • @MRJOELDC23

Mr J the D90 from the 80 is a natural progression.

The D-movie is really fun but you have to plan your shot.

Bit like the old days having to think about your photography again!

  • Absolutely correct and if you like that look then there is nothing wrong with fluttering exposure.

My personal preference would be to do a nice cut with some foreground and use the exposure lock to your advantage. Another more practical way if you want a continuous D-Movie through differing lighting conditions is to momentarily release your thumb from the exposure lock allow it to quickly adjust then lock it again giving you exposure continuity through the rest of the take.

    Cheers,

    Jasin.

  • If you lock the exposure on manual for say a shot indoors in a darkened enviroment and then you walk outside into bright light, surely you are going to experience over exposure?

When taking still photos you can adjust between shots, but if you want a flowing video through different light levels, locking the exposure will not work!
