it would be nice if they told you that the micro switches will break if you use it frequently and the letters on the buttons will wear off in a matter of weeks I love this thing i paid 39.99 for it and went back to game stop with in a month and it was 19.99 so i don't know if I'd recommend it preformed well until it broke but it broke none the less. I love a replacement I even have the original box it came in but i don't think pdp has the resources to replace every broken controller.
I love this thing and have been using it since it's been released but I think a lot of people, including myself are wondering if there are any plans for future revisions to the controller?
@PDPCandace Well, not what I wanted to hear but so nice of you to respond. :)
I just wanted to let you guys know that there are a lot of fans of this pad and we wouldn't mind seeing it get a facelift or something. This thing is really good not only for fighters but shoot em ups aswell and thats mainly cause of the buttons and stick.
I bought this thing for shmups like Touhou Project and other games like Super Meat Boy on the go. For some background, I'm a competitive Street Fighter player, I've been playing since ST and I've always been very partial to Japanese style (now, specifically Siemitsu) parts. I've always scoffed at pads. I've actually pulled off kara demons in 3s with this thing. Good job on bringing pad fun to stick players PDP. I'll never switch to it for fighters but it's great on the go and very capable!
it's shame i cannot find this great Pad in ITALY! i was about to get madCaz fight stick but after ur review i think ur is by far much better! what do u suggest me to do guys?! :'( anyway LOOKS AWESOME! good job! ;)
Love this thing but durability on the stick isn't that great. For example, mine just broke. :( But the buttons are great and trying to play on a regular controller after playing on this pad is not the same at all.
little disappointed with the response at times with the micro switches around the actual stick. The down forward and back forward seam to be lacking at times and unresponsive.
Suggestion: Since it's just for fighting games, move both shoulder triggers to the right side. It's very awkward to make complicated dpad motions AND hit the left shoulder trigger at the right time. If both shoulder triggers were on the right side, it would make things SO much easier.
Not trying to spam, but I've got a brand new one for sale. The controller and buttons feel amazing, but I'm a "d-pad traditionalist", and can't get used to the mini-stick. My loss, your gain. Follow the link in my profile!
I LOVE PDP. Have collected almost all your controllers... Thank you for making great products! Love the marvel fightpad. One question however, any word on any new Tron controllers?

@ChromiumSilver The varients sell out almost as soon as they are released. We are hoping to work one some more. You can follow me on twitter for updates @PDP_Candace
Very cool design. My only wish is that it was some sort of dpad instead of the stick. But the 'clickiness' from the buttons and everything sounds great. I hope for a PS3 version (and potential dpad one) very soon.
I tried one of these for a few minutes and it felt pretty good, I wish I could use one of these so I can save myself the 150+ dollars I spend on sticks!
Could somebody please tell me where i can order this to the eu? I`ve tried googling it, but with no luck.
Also a bit more technical question, will this be comfortable with converters on the ps3, and if so, is it without lagg on the input (Basically, will i be able to use this in a T6 Br tourney without delay?)
So you made it so that we can use our fingers on the face buttons in mind.... good, yet you put the RT button on the right, making it virtually useless unless you're using your thumbs on the face buttons... you complete blonkers.
RT should be above/below the LT button, if I use a pad for Mahvil 3 (only if my stick isn't to hand) I like having my tag buttons available through my left fingers.
Typical, I was looking to buying my first 'fighting' pad and saw this which ticked all the boxes. After scouring the web including their site I can't find one place selling it. Also there is no information as to whether it's going to be available in the uk.
@PDPCandace Excellent, thanks for the response. Fingers crossed that it becomes available over here as i'd purchase this tomorrow if it was out. As a smart and reasonably priced alternative to other 'sticks' I would imagine there are plenty of others who would buy this too.
@PDPCandace How about people who don't live in UK? I live in holland and finding a stick here is a nightmare and extremely expensive, my only alternative would be this fightpad which is literally the closest thing to a stick. If you guys are thinking about hitting the European market, please make it available for holland too!
@PDPCandace Any further updates on UK availability? This is going to be a big year for fighting games with MK, Tekken Tag 2, and Streetfight x Tekken. :)

Does anyone know if this works for other games? I know it sounds stupid, but my son has small hands and I am really interested in the "1 d pad" instead of the left stick, right stick, and d pad. Too much for my kid. This controller looks thinner than the standard controller and less buttons for him to hit unintentionally. Can someone please try to use it on a xbox arcade game and let me know if it works?
Why wasn't there a PS3 version made? I saw it when I went to work yesterday. My AM told me that we were sold out, so I did a little research just to find out that you guys only made it for the 360.
@coderkind I was desperate so I ordered from the Gamestop US website. It cost me $55 = £33. HOWEVER, UPS really screwed me over with a charge of £19.90 for the shipping to my house. So overall it cost me about £53. Still worth it, beast of a controller.
I just picked up this controller today, and I really like it. I actually bought MvC3 on both PS3 and Xbox 360 because I have friends on both systems to play online with. So if there is a PS3 version of this controller, I'd totally buy that too.
where can i buy it ?? i really want it man. the PDP sight says it is currently unavailable and on top of tht i live in the UK. Amazon or play.com does not show this product as well
just wondering, those of you who have one, are you having issues talking with it over xbox live? i can only hear others speaking but i cant talk through it
PDP.com states that the pad is 'currently unavailable', so pre-ordering/purchasing it was a no-go for me there. Can you tell us when it will be re-stocked again for online sale, or if there has been a confirmed street date at vendors other than GameStop?
She's attractive, good job promoting the controller. Made me want to get it since it harks back to the old Neo Geo controller set-up with the stick as their D-pad.
I pre ordered it on Thursday the 10th they shipped it Friday the 11th it will be at my house Tuesday the 15th(I am in NY its shipping from CA). I ordered the 2nd best shipping option for 6 bucks. Cheapest shipping is 3 bucks and overnight is 10 or 11. Can't wait!
Hm, would you say the sticky D-pad thing feels more like a D-pad, or stick? So like a official 360 controller stick or a Mad Catz fightpad? I'm much more accustomed to Pads from like say the Sega Megadrive/Genesis when it comes to fighting games, I've never used an Arcade stick, and I suck with an official 360 pad (But I think most people would say that lol).
@PDPCandace Does this controller come with some kind of warranty? I dont want it to end up broken like those Madcatz controllers and then im down 40+ dollars.
i'm normally against gamepad use in fighting games, but if i were to ever use one, this would be it. also, will there be another edition with different artwork, or maybe just plain?
Okay.......im effin pissed now gamestop pushed it back to the 18th wtf why would thay dat i hav it preordered and every thing. I was hopein i was goin to play with it wen i get my copy of mvc3 ARGH!!!
This is really cool and i'm usually unimpressed by companies that aren't well known for arcade sticks or pads.. I"m actually willing to buy this and i'm usually a cynical game critic being such a fan of old school styles. The micro switch is an awesome idea over the stock stick that i hate for fighting games. I might still take a first gen Saturn pad, but i might have to pick this up alongside an actual arcade stick.
more questions: is there a switch to make the joystick into left analog stick, right analog stick then back into the dpad like a Madcatz TE stick? would you consider putting left and right thumb sticks for sports fighting games like UFC undisputed and Fight night?
let's see it in action. plz post a video of it being using. one camera on the game screen and one camera on the players hands and controller then sync the videos.
@majerelynn no because its not licensed by sony and it wont have the software to communicate with the ps3 you cant plug any perpherial made for xbox and have it work just by plugging it in. if you really want one your gonna need an xmbc
If you ever release this for PS3, please, PLEASE don't make it wireless! Fighting game enthusiasts don't want to play on the mercy of unreliable USB dongles and AA batteries! Avoid making the same mistake mad catz did!
And yeah, I'm totally getting two of these for my 360.
shame its for xbox only, if it comes out for ps3 at a decent price then its a must buy! I myself own a madcatz sf pad, which i must say am not impressed by the durability, hope this pad can take a beating.
Ever since I picked up SS4, I have been tempted to get one of Madcatz Fightpads, but they always had mixed reviews (either very good or very poor, usually from the D-Pad sticking).
This controller has be highly interested though. How durable is it? The way the joystick/dpad looks on this awesome piece of hardware seems to be durable, but I figure I would ask.
My girlfriend loves your companies Epic Mickey Paintbrush, so I have high hopes for this as well!
@ChaosMage251 The quality is very durable on these, it's meant to be beaten up a little during heavy use (due to the fact that it is meant for fighting games). Thank You very much, glad she enjoys it!
Wonder how well sliding techniques work with that pad. (Gen's MK xx Hands for example.) I really hope those microswitches are high quality and don't break after a month of heavy use.
Totally getting this. The 360's d-pad is complete shit and thumbsticks are too awkward for me to use in a fighter, so this microswitch thing seems like a well-thought out collaboration between the two.
And there's the button layout, which is pretty self-explanatory. Not only will I be able to actually play MVC3, but SSFIV and SSFIIHD as well [and SFIII3S, AND KI], without using an arcade stick!
It looks like the Madcatz controller except with the little neo geo clicky stick. But for these developers trying to make an awesome 2D fighting pad, JUST COPY THE SATURN PAD! Saturn pad is and will forever be the best for fighting games so please, someone release a Saturn pad. Make a partnership with Sega or something, I want a Sega Saturn pad for my 360/PS3. I use the PS2 Saturn pad on my PS3.
I super like the microswitch pad used on NGPC, and I've wanted this. But you went through the trouble of putting the back/start buttons on the top of the controller to avoid accidental pausing in tournaments, YET you have that HUGE XBOX ORB basically as close to the face buttons as they are to each other! That also pauses the game, you know, and is MUCH more commonly pressed accidentally than Start. Makes me wonder how well you thought this through instead of blindly going down a feature list.
I want to add that I admire what you're trying to do here, and I like the features you've put in, but a major oversight like that Xbox Orb makes me wary of buying, particularly since it goes against one of your stated goals. If it were from a company I'd heard of before, I might be willing to assume they had a legitimate reason for that placement (and perhaps you do too), but from a company that hasn't proven themselves to me yet, I have a difficult time giving the benefit of the doubt.
@segadult PDP (Performance Designed Products) is formerly Pelican. This year alone we release the Epic Mickey Chuk, Epic Mickey Charging Station, the TRON edition controllers (360, PS3, Wii) and we make a lot of products for GameStop. PDP.com
@PDPCandace Ah ok. I'm somewhat familiar with Pelican, but only stuff from way back. I didn't know you guys were now targeting hardcore (possibly professional) gamers. I wasn't a fan of the stuff made in the PS1 days, and I haven't paid attention since. Mad Catz has upped their quality since then too (which used to be abysmal), so I suppose I'll give you guys a shot. Thanks.
@segadult that xbox orb placement is probably microsofts standards in regards to 3rd party controllers. i know for sure PDP had to put the nasty colors on the buttons because of said standards
This looks awesome! I'm a Madcatz Fightpad user but not satisfied with the dpad. Will be a day 1 purchase for me! When and where will this be available?
if your watching this for a review or a decent introduction to the PDP controller, don't bother! but if u want watch two fools chat shit about their fantastic product, go ahead...
@flava82 Don't know about you bro, but I see a video for an innovative controller for the fighting game commmunity, and an idiot in the comments section who doesn't even know the basic difference between your and you're.
@clairemadeinheaven yes u don't know about me, especially not enough to call me bro. we see things differently, and what? please don't reply to this i really don't want another email pop up alerting me of YOUR weeping reply.
@flava82 You posted your opinion, I posted mine. Since you obviously can't handle the situation you put yourself in, next time don't post a public comment on a public site. God forbid someone reply!
if only it had the 4 triggers in the back with the same layout on the front like the hori ex2 it would had been perfect.... man so close i still might get it.
this thing is awesome, i use it for mk arcade kollection. but i hear they brake easily, so i hope mine does not

i'm normally against gamepad use in fighting games, but if i were to ever use one, this would be it. also, will there be another edition with different artwork, or maybe just plain?

@cthulhuloid We aren't really sure about that at the moment.

Is that a... click stick I see? Like the Neo Geo pads? LOOOOOVE
I wanted to avoid getting another pad after my Zangief one... sigh...
Munchmessiah 1 year ago
Awesome! I just hope they make them for the PS3 as well so I can use them for tournaments.
OJuggernautO 1 year ago
This is really cool and i'm usually unimpressed by companies that aren't well known for arcade sticks or pads.. I"m actually willing to buy this and i'm usually a cynical game critic being such a fan of old school styles. The micro switch is an awesome idea over the stock stick that i hate for fighting games. I might still take a first gen Saturn pad, but i might have to pick this up alongside an actual arcade stick.
OptimusPrimeX 1 year ago
I hope this pad has high quality parts and works because it looks GAWJUS!!! I hope to use it for every game.
As long as its not ridiculously unresponsive like the Neo Geo pad.

more questions: is there a switch to make the joystick into left analog stick, right analog stick then back into the dpad like a Madcatz TE stick? would you consider putting left and right thumb sticks for sports fighting games like UFC undisputed and Fight night?
chau2k5 1 year ago
also how sensitive are the buttons? like Sanwa arcade buttons sensitive?
chau2k5 1 year ago
let's see it in action. plz post a video of it being using. one camera on the game screen and one camera on the players hands and controller then sync the videos.

JusticeJanitor 1 year ago
Since this is just a USB controller, shouldn't you be able to plug it into the PS3 and have it work?
majerelynn 1 year ago
@majerelynn no because its not licensed by sony and it wont have the software to communicate with the ps3 you cant plug any perpherial made for xbox and have it work just by plugging it in. if you really want one your gonna need an xmbc
RABIDNATSU 1 year ago
can i buy this on a normal eb games store in canada???
Dannieel92 1 year ago
If you ever release this for PS3, please, PLEASE don't make it wireless! Fighting game enthusiasts don't want to play on the mercy of unreliable USB dongles and AA batteries! Avoid making the same mistake mad catz did!
And yeah, I'm totally getting two of these for my 360.

shame its for xbox only, if it comes out for ps3 at a decent price then its a must buy! I myself own a madcatz sf pad, which i must say am not impressed by the durability, hope this pad can take a beating.

@PDPCandace
ChaosMage251 1 year ago
@ChaosMage251 The quality is very durable on these, it's meant to be beaten up a little during heavy use (due to the fact that it is meant for fighting games). Thank You very much, glad she enjoys it!

@PDPCandace Awesome! I shall add that on my to-preorder list next time I am out :)

Wonder how well sliding techniques work with that pad. (Gen's MK xx Hands for example.) I really hope those microswitches are high quality and don't break after a month of heavy use.
MASHTHATSHIT 1 year ago
Totally getting this. The 360's d-pad is complete shit and thumbsticks are too awkward for me to use in a fighter, so this microswitch thing seems like a well-thought out collaboration between the two.
And there's the button layout, which is pretty self-explanatory. Not only will I be able to actually play MVC3, but SSFIV and SSFIIHD as well [and SFIII3S, AND KI], without using an arcade stick!
I'm completely sold!
BlackAnimeAddict 1 year ago
Since Sony must have gotten exclusive rights to SNK's NeoGeo Pad USB, PDF wants to invest in this technology.
Raiden3651 1 year ago
It looks like the Madcatz controller except with the little neo geo clicky stick. But for these developers trying to make an awesome 2D fighting pad, JUST COPY THE SATURN PAD! Saturn pad is and will forever be the best for fighting games so please, someone release a Saturn pad. Make a partnership with Sega or something, I want a Sega Saturn pad for my 360/PS3. I use the PS2 Saturn pad on my PS3.
segasaturnsnk 1 year ago
I super like the microswitch pad used on NGPC, and I've wanted this. But you went through the trouble of putting the back/start buttons on the top of the controller to avoid accidental pausing in tournaments, YET you have that HUGE XBOX ORB basically as close to the face buttons as they are to each other! That also pauses the game, you know, and is MUCH more commonly pressed accidentally than Start. Makes me wonder how well you thought this through instead of blindly going down a feature list.
segadult 1 year ago
I want to add that I admire what you're trying to do here, and I like the features you've put in, but a major oversight like that Xbox Orb makes me wary of buying, particularly since it goes against one of your stated goals. If it were from a company I'd heard of before, I might be willing to assume they had a legitimate reason for that placement (and perhaps you do too), but from a company that hasn't proven themselves to me yet, I have a difficult time giving the benefit of the doubt.
segadult 1 year ago
@segadult PDP (Performance Designed Products) is formerly Pelican. This year alone we release the Epic Mickey Chuk, Epic Mickey Charging Station, the TRON edition controllers (360, PS3, Wii) and we make a lot of products for GameStop. PDP.com
PDPCandace 1 year ago
@PDPCandace Ah ok. I'm somewhat familiar with Pelican, but only stuff from way back. I didn't know you guys were now targeting hardcore (possibly professional) gamers. I wasn't a fan of the stuff made in the PS1 days, and I haven't paid attention since. Mad Catz has upped their quality since then too (which used to be abysmal), so I suppose I'll give you guys a shot. Thanks.
segadult 1 year ago
@segadult that xbox orb placement is probably microsofts standards in regards to 3rd party controllers. i know for sure PDP had to put the nasty colors on the buttons because of said standards

This looks awesome! I'm a Madcatz Fightpad user but not satisfied with the dpad. Will be a day 1 purchase for me! When and where will this be available?
