  • my power supply doesn't have the 4 pin thing to provide power WHAT CAN I DO!!!!

    PLEASE RESPOND!!!!!

  • @rt8269 you need a sata to pin converter. I say it should be cheap enough. or some times it comes with power supply unit

  • I just installed one of these (and the driver) and it worked for a few hours, then my machine crashed with an error and the only way it would start again was after I removed the card. Machine is only 2 years old so not sure what the problem is. Just wanted to share in case others have the same issue, just remove the card and your system will start normal again.

  • 4port

  • People really couldn't have figured this out themselves?

  • Cable management FTW!

  • I was and still am thinking about purchase a new motherboard and set up. One of the things I needed is more USB's. I got a deal on newegg for 8 bucks with tax and shipping for a 5 in 1, 4 external and 1 internal. This should hold me off until my new build is built without the frustrations I face daily. It comes in a couple days. SO glad I ran into an ad or video, I forgot and found one of these on sale. Now with the new build I will have tons of USB 2.0 and maybe some 3.0's if it comes with it.

  • HOOVER DAT GPU COOLING FAN

  • Do me a favor: Talk quieter and then make the intro music louder. Thanks.

  • it look badly connect, your plug is not push completely...

  • does anyone know how to remove the metal cover from the back of the pc, mine is sautered closed

  • @rav07 Hi, if you don't mind me asking; what PC do you have?

  • lol...you have the same case as mine.

  • I always used to get confused about PCi and PCI express slots, no jokes but this video finally answered that question, now i'll be able to buy the right damn card lol Thanks dude

  • can you install this pci card on usb 2.0 mothboard or does the mother board have to be usb 3.0 compatible? mine is the ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS

  • i was wondering if the tutorial here was needed but after reading the comment, i think it is. good idea to help others.

  • I have the USB 3.0 places in my motherboard, but they are not working. How i can ''install'' the to work?

  • @GamerDTT you have to have 3.0 ports in the media reader for them to work as 3.0. you also need 3.0 things like external hard drives or something of that sort. it's limited by the slowest part. if you have all the hardware, you might, sound, still need the drivers installed. i'm not sure if the o/s has the 3.0 drivers yet since it's still kinda new and catching on slowly.

  • dOES ANYBODY KNW WHAT ause to pci is used for

  • might look into this. My MSI gd80 is still too new to look into something else just because of usb 3.0

  • Can i do this on my laptop? And, does this work for both macs and pc's??

  • is it possible too replace 2.0 usb with 3.0 usb :S when you dont have slots left

  • do u have to install the pin from the power supply? i dont have any left >_<

  • so do these cards fit in a PCIe 2.0 x1 slot or x16? And the claimed speed of 5GB per second sounds crazily fast, is that a real world figure?

  • @parrotcar these fit in PCIe x16 slots, and they dont really go 5gbps, but they definetly go WAY faster than usb 2.0

  • @hewhohides oops i meant PCIe x1

  • @hewhohides ok thats cool as ive got one x16 (with a radeon 5750 in it) and a free x1.

  • what if i haven't an extra power supply to the card ?

  • Can someone help me, I just bought a brand new pc, I have 3 questions: 1. it comes with with asus p8p67 motherboard which already has usb 3.0 but the ports are usb 2.0? I dont understand this as I want usb 3.0

    2. would I need to buy a usb 3.0 memory flash drive as well or can i use my old flash drive, and

3.lastly what speeds can i expect, thank you all very much in advance.

  • The maximum throughput of this card is limited by the bus interface. If used with PCI Express Gen 1.0 enabled computers, the max throughput is 2.5 Gbps. If used with PCI Express Gen 2.0 enabled computers, the max throughput is 5 Gbps.

  • @marcs57 How can I check if my computer has a PCI Express Gen 2.0?

  • @michaelanthony

do a search online for your MB specs.

  • USB 3.0 is not 5 Gigabytes per second, it is 5 Gigabits per second, which would equal to about 625 Megabytes per second!

  • @RiksK15 Which is pretty decent.....I could live with it....

  • Hey how come some cards require Molex power and some cards dont?

  • better than buying a new case

  • you reminds me of Salad fingers when you talk... nice ! :D

  • Hello I am hoping you can help me. I bought a Street Fighter 4 TE fight stick for my PC and my computer recognizes my stick but it does not register my buttons, and my computer can only has an express slot, but I want to make sure I get a card that will make this fightstick work will this usb card do the job? Thank you :)

  • Thank you for the tutorial. It really simplified the whole process. I ended up buying the same card, because its the cheapest on newegg. Great card too, and you can find the latest drivers from startech website.

  • thanks for nice tutorial

  • Hi Rav,

I have installed the exact same usb 3.0 card as you today, however I have not connected the molex cable as I don't have one. I have installed drivers ok and devices seem to work, however can you tell me if usb 3.0 devices that are powered by the USB port work without molex connected. I understand if it is confusing :/

    Thanks,

    Joe.

  • It should be noted, the person who did this above tutorial, did not ground out both his hands on the computer case, before touching anything, to discharge static electricity from your body, witch will blow components inside your computer or even picking up any card or board from the box, or your mother board, or just about any electronic parts you may touch, you should also wear a grounding wrist band with cable clip. when handling these items, he was not to smart. could end up very costly

  • can you do this to a laptop?

  • @FreshKiNg27 only if your laptop has an expansion bay, goto ebay and search expresscard 54 usb 3.0 and jus look around there, they're like 20 bucks

  • So this just uses a Molex connector for power?

  • Do they sell non pci express mini? I only have Pci express x16 and regular Pci on my computer.

  • @JetJL pci express x2 works on pci express x4 x8 x16 too. so dont worry

  • does it work with any computer and will it work for the black magic intensity shuttle?

  • Do they have any models for slim PC's?

  • It should be noted usb 3.0 protocol has provisions to support up to 5 Gigabits per seconds (Gb/s). notice the gigaBITs (Gb) not gigaBYTEs (GB) there is a huge difference between bits and bytes. There are 8 bits per byte. This would give you about 625 MB/s. It should also be noted the only devices even coming close to saturating a full 3 Gb/s is a solid state drive. It should however give you typically 2-3x the transfer speed as a typical usb 2.0. Otherwise good job on the tut.

  • if i install that thing i have usb 3.0??

  • Hi Rav,Cool idea to show this Tutorial man,Think i might do a few of these to see if it help's,Cool video man,as i did not know USB 3.0 was even out yet,Thank's for the head's up m8y :)

  • cool !!!!

and these cards are REALLY cheap!!!, not a bad way to upgrade your pc =)

  • @xGarettx I agree! ;-)
