  • I guess this offended all the "greeseballs" on 18th avenue and 67th street in Brooklyn at the time. Leroy was a welcome change, BUT Slime Ball would have cover all the bases

  • Rockabilly at its best!

  • im italian and i love it,we are greaseballs, lol one of the most underrated oldies of all time, same as drip drop by the drifters

  • im italian and i love it,we are greaseballs,lol

  • It was feared it would offend Italians...I heard this in '57 but as Leroy... He is never featured on most "oldies/retrospectives... and should be

  • @howlingsandy They lost most of the master tapes, unfortuately x

  • This was spoof of Leroy, flip side of My True Love.

  • @alanhfrank Acyually, Greeseball was not a spoof of Leroy, it was actually the original title of Leroy and was recorded in 1957 for ABC-Paramount, but I believe it was never released by them. Whwn Jack Scott went to Carlton, they changed the title as it was thought Greeseball would be offensive to Latinos. The Name Leroy came from a bathroom wall where Leroy was here was written on the wall.

Per liner Notes from a Bear Recordings Best of CD compliation.
