  • THEY WERE REALLY INNOVATORS IN THEIR OWN WAY ...VERY CLEAN SOUND ....

  • Great instrumental cover!

    Terry in Alexis, NC, USA

  • my grand father is bob spickard

  • @bmasterworx Hello to you and grandad ! Can you recognise him?

  • OMG! The guitars aren't even plugged in ... They're actually just "dancing" to their own recording .. but that's okay! It's still their music.

  • This is just cute as a button!

  • PIPELINE !

  • I feel ashamed ,being 49 and it took Eddie Angel and Danny Amis to bring me here.Better late than never . Shoulda surfed before I hit my 40's eh ?

  • @anotherbluesguy I only came across this on an LP in a charity shop two years ago. "Wayward Nile" I like even better. Of course, Eddie Angel & Los Straitjackets are my guitar heros ( with help from the Pontanis...)

  • @SirBasildeBrush Gotta love a cool score outta a second hand srore and Ya cant go wrong with Los Straitjackets and the Sisters. I'll go have a listen to The Hunters. Great post .Thanks !

  • @anotherbluesguy You also might want to check out the version by The Hunters.

  • It is Shannons' runaway, and a great instrumental version!!

  • I like the bass guitar playing in this one.

  • Is it me or does that piano sound reggae music at the begining?

  • Is This the L..Welk .show ??

  • GREAT**********

  • This is nice, but are we sure it's supposed to be Shannon's Runaway? Parts of it sound similar but they never actually play the chorus or that famous bridge, and other parts sound totally unrelated. What's going on??

  • @NessieSanzerbeard Umistakably Shannon's 'Runaway'. It's also credited to him in the sleeve notes.

  • Brian Carman tuned my MusicMan Sting Ray as he worked for Leo Fender at MusicMan's , Fullerton CA. i learned this 1 hour before, & now I just have to learn how to play Pipeline! somebody should tell him the new....

  • I imagine they did instrument versions of vocal hits when they were playing gigs like Lonnie Mack did with " Memphis ". One thing an instrumental group didn't have to worry about when doing those moves was hitting a mic stand with a guitar.

  • wonder if they could only sing and play this song

  • beautyfull all the stars greetings jan

  • No matter what anyone says I Love it...

  • タートイズシエイルのピックガード・ストラトキャスターは”58年のフエンダー社の生産ライン。貴重です、社史ですよね

  • @jazzbass0321 WTF!!!??

  • Very interesting take. Not a patch on the original, but I'm glad you posted it. Their sound is just awesome.

  • @PtolemyJones Take a listen to the version by The Hunters.

  • @SirBasildeBrush Very nice. better then this one, but still not as good as the original. Thanks for the heads up!

  • I don't think surf music really fits the tune "Runaway", sorry I think Del Shannon's version is better

  • Beautiful reverbing sound of the 60's!

  • This bears similar structure to thrash metal lol I can imagine the metallica song motorhead while listening to this lol

  • You are so correct, I'm 53 and a former provider of SG and Marshall stack pain. Chantays, Ventures, and Chuck Berry live right next door to Jimi and Randy.

  • A surfer version of ol' Del's runaway^^

    very good,

    i love it

  • Love the way you incorporated the pipeline footage here....oops! shhhhhh!

    5-stars me friend!

  • Shhhhhhh...

  • @stupullen ...i won't tell!

  • Well, well .. I just noticed on a re-run .. the boys in the middle here in this footage .. the 3 guitarists .. are doing that famous to-and-fro + foot-kick-out move that The Shadows first invented !! Watch and compare !! Only Hank B. & his bandmates have it a bit more down-pat & slicker ... ; and, in terms of looks & appearance .. the middle guitarist in this action-footage bears an ever-so- faint resemblance to a young .. and considerably slimmer .. Carl Wilson. Yes ./. No ??

  • Maybe a passing resemblence... I think the Chantays look a little awkward at trying to do a Shadows 'walk'.

  • The Ventures tried it ... once

  • Great piano riffs here - unusual for a high-quality surfmusic instrumental - but it works a treat here !! Great posting, Sir B.

  • Same chords, same tune, and same songwriter credits as Dels' Runaway.

  • 100 % correct

  • ... are you deaf ?

  • I believe it's called uniqueness, if you have a band that goes note-for-note then in most cases, you have a failure.

  • I N C R E D I B L E

    W O W

  • Believe it or not,it's from The Lawrence Welk Show Actually,it's an edited version of "Pipeine" ,which they did on the show.

  • You caught me out!

  • Probably the only rock group to perform on the lawrence welk show [except for floyd cramer doing country rock] lawrence didnt want anything vulgar even the regulars werent suposed to drink and run around with women.

  • Basil - are you sure you didn't get this off an episode of Thunderbirds? I'm looking for the strings ...

  • It was hell not getting the strings tangled for that keyboard player...

  • Gov'nor...such language...think of The Basilettes!!!

    ;)

  • my foul mouth just runs riot sometimes...

  • Your fans still honour you.....oh great one...
