  • it isnt the same without dorthy...

  • @SoberChickTX Hahahaha

  • @theAndrijoie hahahahah

  • they could have done without the kid

  • Don Cheadle???? wow didn't know he played with them

    He's hot too ;)

  • I can see how some of this could have inspired Suite Life of Zach and Cody.

  • Wasn't this broadcast on CBS? Does anyone know why CBS bought the rights to this instead of NBC doing it?

  • @merrittdude In an E! special, they originally pitched it to NBC who only ordered 13 episodes, but CBS was willing to do a full season

  • I so wish they would release this on DVD, they should of put it on season 7 of the G.G. there was going to be a 2nd Season of Golden Palace but the network canceled 6 shows that season that they didn't renew. It didn't due as well as Golden Girls But it was doing pretty good,a 2nd season even to wrap up the show would of been a great idea.

  • Wow..that "remake" of the opening song is HORRID. I had to actually mute my laptop..

  • ..................

  • I like this series

CBS should have gave it another chance they just cancelled it after they announced Fall 1992's line-up

  • i like it!

  • well if Dorothy was there they would not have jumped into owning a hotel.

  • I found out that the role of THE PART TIME MAID was going to be an occasionally role filled in by a special guest star! Whether it would be the same or a different actress each time was not decided yet. The idea was later abandoned as ordered by the network during the show's season story pitches. I wonder how the show would have been different if they had kept that idea opened?

  • Well, it was an ensemble cast. It took all 4 of them to ping off each other n get that perfect comedy chemistry. As soon as Bea left, they should've realized that and let it go instead of making the stink-o spinoff.

  • They could have made another spin off called "The Golden Girl" and make it just about Dorothy's life?

  • @BrodyDarlin Bea wanted off the show though. That's why it ended. Rue said in her last book that she always thought they should have just gotten another actress to replace Bea. I agree. Like she said in it, there were plenty of good actresses their age to do a good job. It didn't happen though because the studios weren't about to give up the money that was going to be made in syndicating Golden Palace if it went more than a season. I guess their gamble didn't pay off. Too bad. Loved GG!!!

  • @bradleyac

Nah, bad ideal. Bea was right. The show had run it's course, and instead of running it into the ground, you leave while you're still a quality entity that people can remember fondly, instead of remembering how embarrassing the last season was like with other shows, and certainly athletes.

You could bring in the best actress ever and it simply wouldn't be the same, cause you can't turn something established into something new. Bea knew when to let go, and the others didn't.

  • @BrodyDarlin I'm pretty sure they would, but Bea Said in a interview is that she was done with the show itself and wanted to move on but she had sooo much fun playing as Dorthy. I guess haha. But I know that she said she was done... ): she was my favorite character...

  • @BrodyDarlin

    That probably wouldn't have worked.

  • Is it me or did anyone hear ''Moron'' in the audience? 2:23

  • @LitaFan1004 no noo.. i heard it tooo...... :\

  • @LitaFan1004 I heard it too!

  • No, but she could beat the crap out of you! LOL

  • @Coganboy she has a point

  • @KoraggRules Exactly. Dorothy scared me, and always will.

  • @shairaptor Me, clearly:P

  • @hearttopmodel05 then youre the only one :P

  • @shairaptor Ahh, didn't realize you were psychic:P

  • @hearttopmodel05 not me

  • And how come the kid doesn't pronounce r's sometimes and then sometimes he does??

  • @hearttopmodel05 who cares

  • Here's a hint: KICK THE KID OFF.

  • He didn't fit in but he was adorable.

  • which wpisode has bob cat?

  • 5:13 what do we do Dorothy would be the one handling this

  • @apollowaterbender8 dorothy actually appears in two episodes on golden palace, I have the two episodes on dvd (recorded from german tv)

  • is it me or did Blanche's reaction seem racist? lol

  • @tamithomas i thought the same thing, lol.

  • It warmed my heart that they mentioned Dorothy, it gives me some kind of validation that she is missed and not forgotten :)

  • okay its not a bad show. lol

  • Have you spent much time in a hotel?

    Sophia- HO!

  • No but she could beat the crap out of you!!!! LMFAO BEST LINE !!!

  • It's not just Bea's absence. The writing just isn't up to the GGs.

  • is this a real... show?

  • What an awful spin off

  • @Slacktoo totally!

  • Original the role of the part-time maid was going to be a guest star! Every few episodes we would she her and she was going to be a Bea Arthur type character.

How ever after the pilot was picked up; the character was scraped and never mentioned again!

  • Oliver? Like Cousin Oliver? Good Grief!

In all seriousness though, this is a good show. It's just that Golden Girls was so wonderful that anything would pale in comparison.

  • oh i wish Dorothy were here!

    ME TOO!!

  • I feel like they had to make this to stop the depression every one felt without GG's.

  • @GaijinPrincess So true. Even now, every time I watch the see the last episode on Hallmark I weep like a infant.

  • 'Oh how I wish Dorothy were here!' 'Oh honey, even she couldn't help us out of this.' 'No, but she could beat the crap outta you!'

  • miss Bea Arthur though

  • please released this show into dvd

  • Thank you for uploading these :)

  • I love the reference to Dorothy =)

  • I grew up watching golden girls, from a very young age, I saw them as grandmother figures (which would have upset blanche lol) and out of tribute to bea rue and estelle Ill make sure my kids watch em to RIP

  • Don Chedle was fine lol

  • Roland was also a foster parent to Jake T. Austin in Hotel for Dogs of 2009... What a role!!!

  • I didn't know this show existed either. I think it's a shame that networks don't give shows time to find their audience. I think if it had been on longer, or if they had advertised it better more people would have at least given it a chance.

And yes, the kid is pretty bad and I think Dorthy would have made some special appearances on the show over time IF it had been on longer.

  • Sophia: "We have a dog here"

    Rose: *gets excited* "Where?"

    :-) *LOL*

  • HAHA! Nice line from Rose @ 08:40

  • the kid makes the show a litle dumb but still good

  • i miss Dorothy

  • I never even knew this show existed. It was so much better when dorothy was on, she knew all the best jokes to me laughing. No wonder this only lasted one season. So much better with dorothy!! And the kid doesnt add to the humor.

  • don cheadle hahaha! I respect him as a serious actor but he truly sucks as a comedian.

  • that kid does ruin the moment lol.

  • Where did Dorothy go again???

  • she got married to Blanche's uncle Lucas and moved to Atlanta

  • @beatlebugg

    ENOUGH WICKER LOL

  • The joke about Roland asking if Blanche has spent much time in hotels is funny but the noise Sophia makes is just stupid, and the fact that you can see her grinning at it too kind of ruins the humour. Still though, a great episode!

  • i don't understand how they got the money to buy this hotel to begin with. i mean on the golden girls they were alway's broke barely making end's meet. especially sophia lol !! remember she was alway's getting money from dorothy, or stealing it !!!

  • @nibornna lol

  • @nibornna i guess the money from the house but then again I thought Blanche was still paying the mortgage?

  • lol roland hehe

  • this hotel reminds me of "the suite life" with cody and zach, i think is their names. its on disney.

  • @danrjns7 that's exactly what I thought when I saw the interraction between the kid and the man at the front desk. Plus you're right it looks very similar to the hotel on the suite life.

  • @danrjns7 i was thinking that too

  • hehe I like how the audience applauds after Sophia says "From now on we cook Italian!"

  • I know, they totally shoulda continued the show in the house.

  • It''s not as good as The Golden Girls but I do enjoy it. I think it would have been better had the three girls remained in the house and continued on with their lives. The hotel idea just didn't work out and the supporting cast just wasn't that good. I would have liked to seen another season in the house with Dorothy maybe coming to visit a few times.

  • Whose terrible idea was this.?!?! This pilot even made the word 'corny' look good!! Why did they have to buy a hotel and why they couldn't just end with Dorothy running off and getting married! I'm a huge fan of the Golden Girls, but The Golden Palace sucked!!! No Wonder it got canceled with the quickess (even the music when it comes on was crappy-geesh!!!)

  • @Free2BeCG1 Funny, but I was just thinking that while this may be lousy compared to The Golden Girls, it is FAR, FAR better than ANY comedy I've seen on TV in years.

Ironically I didn't think much of it when it first aired, to be honest. But at least watching it now I'm laughing. When I watch TV sitcoms now all I hear is laughter from the soundtrack, not my own mouth.

Also, I never realized that was Don Cheadle on here until today.

  • @VeryFineWhine i know what you mean. TV sitcoms these day's just absolutely suck!!! i don't know what's happen to TV show's, but they are just not funny anymore.

  • Damn . Lol I like this but that kid is annoying , GG didn't want a show like this ; with kids ...this reminds me of suite life a little lol !! That kid(Zach or Cody) annoying the manager Roland (moseby) lol ! But ya i luv this show and gg haha

  • @jurn77 They let the child actor go right before the Dorothy visits episode. Then they brought him back for a closure episode with him going back to his mother.

  • will this ever be on dvd or what any one know anything

  • holy crap... on 'chelsea lately' her little nugget is called chuy... and looks alot like chuy here but in midget form... is this where she got it from??

  • I'd never seen this before. The kid, the token, the recycled Blanche jokes. It's a shark jump but I still love them.

  • Blanche: "Honey, the only kind of chain I was ever apart of, I ain't gonna tell you about." lol, she's such a ho!

  • yeah...the kid is sweet but he doesn't add to the show.....

  • @peanut251 they let him go because they realized that. I was disappointed because at the time I was a kid and loved seeing kids on tv shows. So it was a disappointment to me that he left.

  • Is blanches bag gucci??

  • Rose: Oh I wish Dorothy was here.

Blanche: No, Honey I'm afraid even Dorothy can't get us out of this.

Rose: No, but she can beat the crap out of you!

    LMAO

  • I would've dropped the kid. He didn't add to the show. In fact, he kinda ruins it.

  • thats true

  • I agree that the boy sucked. They shoulda axed him.

  • I think they have kept the same show going, and bea should of came back. ;-;. its just not the same when i watch this!

  • Bea was the reason they ended the Golden Girls in the first place. She didn't like the way the show was being written and left.

  • Lessons learned from Scooby-Doo and other shows, never add a kid.

  • @vigo894 or a mexican

  • @vigo894 That's true but there are exceptions like "2 and 1/2 Men"

  • @vigo894 then ull b thankful the kid scrams in the letter epis xD

  • omg i feel like killin roland... he is the manager, director, omg..

but hes ok wen he was like

roland:"ma'am have u spend much time in hotels?"

    sohpia: ho!

roland: *stares at sohpia* "you got any experiance?"

    sophia: HO HO!

lol its like sohpia is callin blanche a "HO!" aka whore xD

  • the golden palace isnt as funny as golden girls, maybe suite life got it from here.

  • I never realize that lol. Hell even the manager of the place is black lol.

  • omg i woulda slapped oliver!

  • "WE HAVE A DOG HERE!."

    "...where???" XD

  • Don Cheadle is very funny and good!

  • ya, thats exactly what i thought

  • Is it me or does having kids in a show like this kind of ruin the humour

  • @briankelly130 Actually, I guess the writers agreed with you. He was written out of the series very early and only appeared in the first six episodes, then again in episodes 11 and 14 where his mother retakes custody and moves him out of the hotel.

  • @briankelly130 it does kinda ruin it.

  • @briankelly130 It is a very fine mix trying to find a kid that is talented but it does not turn into something like "Hannah Montanna" (where the adults just get goo dumped on them & the kids run things). I think that it depends upon the child actor.

  • @briankelly130 why oliver is adorable and funny :)

  • @shairaptor

Maybe so but if you remember, the original show relied on the humour of the characters being older then most characters in a sitcom and having a lot of dark comedy/sexual innuendos, here you have an 11 year old kid who's intent is getting laughs out of some Oliver Twist style thing, the loveable kid who's innocent and yet mischievous, sort of like what you find on Disney sitcoms today with the Sprouse twins or Hannah Montana.

  • @briankelly130 yuck i hate hannah montana and sitcoms of today, you're right

  • To those who, didin't like the golden palace, and the intro the stars (Speaking as Estelle Getty RIP rue and bety, chose to do the show because they wanted to try and get BEa arthur back,

  • Roland: Ma'am, have you spent much time in hotels?

    Sofia: ho!

Roland: Have you had much experience?

    Sofia: ho! ho!

    LMAO!

  • lolz I love that part too . . . the look on Sophia's face

  • I never knew this show until now!

I hope you keep posting ..! It's great too Although I miss Bea on this one!

    Thanks for the upload :)

  • Please keep this series posted! I love the golden girls and mi love the Golden Palace . Thank you For Posting

  • "honesy the kinda chain I was in.. I aint gonna tell you about'

"I wish dorothy was here.. so she could beat the crap outta you" lol

  • I dont know why this show was cancelled. Honestly, It's put me in tears - I loved the episode where bea arthur comes back and Rose hits her with a newspaper for once. I nearly died laughing at that alone lol

  • If I had to choose between the Golden Girls/Golden Palace and Empty Nest, I'd gladly pick Golden Girls/Golden Palace. I don't hate Empty Nest, I just didn't think it was as good though.

  • I think this show could of lasted 3 years at least if was given the time

  • We have a dog here, where?! LMAO, I just loved Rose there...

  • chain means she was part of a sex chain....you know,..........

  • very funny

  • I know I agree I'm begging for this one to be put out on dvd this wasn't very popular with a lot of people but I simply adore this as much as I adore the golden girls...

  • I agree

  • I wish they showed this series/season on Hallmark as well...or atleast release it as the 8th season or something...you know what else was a great spinoff of the girls?...Empty Nest...too bad they don;t show that anymore or haven't released iton DVD!

  • both golden girls and golden palace are so funny

    RIP Bea Arthur

  • haha

    i wish dorothy were here

even she can't help us with this

no, but she can beat the crap out of you

  • they said the main reason the show failed and there were not many viewers was because of Bea.

She was like a sauce that made things great...

  • The two new characters weren't a replacement they were just adding to the show don't like it then stick to the golden girls it'd save you the trouble of constantly whining and crying about not liking it yeah I miss Dorothy to but still it doesn't mean it was wrong to make...

  • thats what I thought.

  • This is just wrong - basically.

More so now that Bea Arthur has died; it only showcases that Dorothy was such a massive part of the proceedings. Not only that but by losing Dorothy, you also lose the Mother/Daughter, Dorothy/Sophia element which was so key to the success of The Golden Girls. The kid is an awful addition and the hotel setup is all wrong. Perhaps it could have worked if they'd stayed in the house and brought in a new housemate to replace Dorothy - can't replace her with two men!!

  • i know bea arthur left the show, but in the episodes did they ever say where dorothy went?

  • she married lucas and was living with him in georgia.

  • If you watched the series finale of the Golden Girls, you would see that she married Blanche's uncle Lucas and moved to Atlanta with him. Sophia stayed behind with the Blanche and Dorothy.

Watch episode 7 and 8 of the Golden Palace...Dorothy is back for a visit. Great episodes!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm enjoying this pilot episode. I miss Bea Arthur but the others girls are amusing to me.

  • Wow, very racial. Very Jewish.

  • I Think this show can be remade something better for 2010

  • "I wish Dorothy was here."

"even Dorothy couldn't help us out of this"

"no but she could beat the crap out of u"

    lol

  • this show was made and produced by jewish guys, but somehow they have to make race an issue. hmm

  • glocker, your an ass... you should never wish someone dead..

  • Same to you.

  • omg, thats so messed up

    vvvv

  • I don't get the "chain" joke...

  • handcuffs in bed

  • Blanche is referring to a daisy chain, which is when a person eats/sucks another person, and that person in turn eats/suck another person, and that person eats/sucks another person, and so on.

  • I need my Dorothy.

  • Dorothy did make an appearance once in the series

  • It was weird not seeing Dorothy there. Even more weird that Sophia decided to stay with them?

  • Sophia had decided that Dorothy needed to be with her husband--alone--and that Blanche and Rose needed her more.

  • what happened to dorothy in the story where did she go?!?!?!?!??????

  • She got married in the Golden Girls series finale to Blanche's uncle. Her character moved to Atlanta to live with her husband. In truth, Bea Arthur didn't want to continue the series. Her reasoning was that they had 7 good seasons with GG.

  • the kid is a lousy actor...had the series lasted longer they wouldve gotten rid of him 4 sure

  • They did,he was written out mid way thru season 2.Only good bit of this show, was when Dorothy guest starred.

  • I just don't get why they added that little kid Oliver....he just doesn't fit the show at all I think....what do you all think? THey should have brought Dorothy back, and dumped him LoL.

  • rose: Oh I wish Dorothy were here

blanche: honey, i'm afraid even she couldn't help us out of this

rose: no, but she could beat the crap out of you!

    lmaooo.

  • lmaoooooo

  • it is always a bad sign when a show has an annoying little kid...it is always a nail in the coffin. And his name is OLIVER! Just like cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch....and we all know what he did to the brady family.

  • why did they leave the house?
