Science assumes the world exists, and that it exists as we see it, and makes no attempt to prove that. As long as that is the case, nothing will ever be, strictly speaking, proven. Gravity is not proven, by the way, in the strict sense of deductive reasoning, it is only proven inductively, which some people (religious fanatics as well as logicians) would say is no proof at all.
