The interior of the coaches is very similar to the European version (Bombardier Double-deck Coach), even if they look very different from the outside. I wonder what is the reason for such big differences in the design of the exterior.
Brings back memories. I had a summer job cleaning these babies at the Willowbrook Yards (next to Mimico) in 1978. Except for the TV's they haven't changed a bit.
@cnrail16 Yep. We still had the original single decker cars then as well. It was always fun cleaning one of these after a rock concert or football game...ugh!!
@Parkwaymania Well now, that's so neat! I respect you for that! I bet the one in 80', was the worse. The night where Alice Cooper was scheduled to be performing at the CNE, but then they cancelled it, and the audience started rioting there from the anger of the cancellation! I bet they trashed the "Government Of Ontario" (GO) trains! Do you remember if they trashed it that night?
I really enjoy riding the GO trains, on the upper level as you see here. Relaxing -- you get a nice view of everything and the trains are clean! Bonus.
your so lucky because where i live i only get the small gp30 freight trains then again they dont always come that often and no passenger trains either but i love you video by the way lol.
interesting i was unaware that you are allowed to move between cars. i always assumed the doors were for emergencies and employees like transit police
Oh, real double deck cars rather than those... what do they call them... with the "open second floor". I assume they have toilets on these trains, are they on every car?
I was actually racing (walking with) someone behind me all the way, they were trying to pass me and I kept kicking them in back of me and pushing them back while recording this.
Great Video mate, I like the look of the Go train you guys have in Toronto. How many cars to a train I kind off lost count when you were walking through. Looks very nice and Modern and I guess it must thousands of Passengers each day. In a City your size you need a good big transit system in order to get people where they need to go.. Thanks again these kind of videos I like watching.
yes it is permitted. plus there are a lot of stations on the lakeshore line that are being remodeled currently so passengers are told over the loud speaker if you want to get off as station (example) XYZ and your near the rear of the train please walk through to one of the first 5 cars as only those doors will open at station XYZ. cant walk through TTC train cars in toronto.
bi levels would be cool in the UK but i like the single level mk4 coaches, not to mention most of your tunnels could never handle the height of our bi levels.
these cars are dead silent from the car ahead or behind it but that's why there are security/emergency levers everywhere. Bombardier makes the train cars, GO Transit uses them in Canada. In the USA : CALTrain, Metro link, SunRail, and Rail Runner also use these same Bombardier built cars. and yup all Toronto rail cars: Street cars, TTC trains, scarborough RT are all built by Bombardier. talk about monopoly..lol.
Wish they had chose siemens instead for the subway lines. In many subways around the world, most countries do a mix of bombardier and siemens. I personally feel that siemens is german originated and offers better quality trains in contrast to bombardier. Not to sound like I dont like bombardier but they tend to offer the cheapest product when it comes to costs in all public transportation competitions around the world.
Man..it'd be kind of freaky sitting alone in one of those cars because even if you scream for help, i wonder if others from 3 or 4 cars away would hear you. Lol. Is this the GO Train? or Bombardier? Or does Bombardier make Go Trains too? Bombardier is making new Toronto streetcars! yay!
only CP crews operate the Milton line, Bombardier crews operate the other 6 lines. CN made it clear to GOT & BBD that freight was their "stupid" priority !
but other than that the GoO does provide the funding.

In this railcar consist, railcar number 2425 is rumored to be the oldest railcar in service as of 2012. Is that true "Buddahboo"?
