Only if you can figure out a way to step down from about 30 kilovolts to 300 V...transistor wont take that at all. Plus the explosions would be much more dramatic with the caps.

From what I was told of caps is that they hold big voltage but low current. I wanted to make a drag go kart from caps. But the techs I work with said that they wouldn't work.

Possibly, but any capacitor that will hold enough energy would be even more expensive than the A123 cells. Plus, (since capacitors have a linear discarge curve) you'd need a monster of a power converter to run it.

Actually, the power converter would probably negate the usefulness of the capacitor's power density because it would become the limiting factor in the circuit. :/
