Hey, if there's a genuine "shortage" of some critical commodity such as gasoline, the logical thing to do is what Jimmy Carter did back in the 70's, & that is to go to rationing.We cannot allow the elitist thieving piggies ration on the basis of affordability (or lack thereof). The USSR didn't collapse economically, it actually had no debt at the end of its existence, and had extremely fast growth in the 80's. Compared to the USA's current debts, deficits and lack of industrial growth, it wasn't really that bad. The USSR's collapse is quite simple - it was politically dismantled. It had an inferior (monarchical) political system, but the economy was quite well industrialized, technological and financially stable.

Personally i dont think global warming is a fraud, everything ive seen trying to debunk it is cherry picking and the manipulation of information. Ok, i've seen a lot of stuff about global warming. The IPCC has produced a lot of illegitimate data. The EPA had to write a report saying that there has been a cooling. I read Orlov's powerpoint on this discussion a year or so ago...(its available online) he makes very important points. He shows how Russians were better prepared for collapse than America due to constant shortages and overt corruption on the street level.

Build your tribe folks...it will be easier if you do. learn to repair your car/refridgator..ect...grow a kitchen garden...expect short work weeks and less money. Buy local products and services when you can.

Re Max's capitalist or anti-capitalist leanings. First let's clear the air about one thing. What we have here in the United States IS NOT CAPITALISM. It's probably closer to what Mussolini termed "Corporatism" which he went on to describe as fascism in it's true sense, i.e., the merger of state and corporate power. So I don't think Max is criticising Capitalism per se. I think he is attacking the criminal banker elite which has waged a coup detat against the America. I think Max IS a capitalist.

If someone is in denial (about anything) nothing you say will yank them out of that mental sinkhole. Denial BTW is the first stage, the lowest stage, of acceptance. The way things are, AL., that is a pretty irrelevant question. The question should be 'is what they are saying true?'. My answer to that is yes.

Capitalism has eaten itself in the US. It has owned the government for half a century, hidden by the threat of external enemies, patriotism and credit-based consumption to keep the masses happy and the wheels turning. Fact #1 The temporary increase in oil prices did not crush the US economy. The credit and debt bubbles have crushed the US consumer economy. Fact #2 Russia has plenty of oil and natural gas. Russia does not have modern equipment to get their natural resources. Iraq has a similar problem. Pleny of oil but equipment that is 30 years old.
