  • Darn you Looney Tunes and your cartooney awesomeness coupled with classical music!!

  • i actually dont watch opera ( please excuse my ignorance if i say something stupid or something like that) but in my opinion, a first time viewer of the barber of seville in an opera, the people that was making all the moves ( i dont know how to call them) were very bad an desorganized... the singer was really good

  • Should of ended with a High E

  • Most fortunate in truth... n_n

  • OMG! what a mess! Poor singer, he has a good voice but is covered by all kind of sounds. Plus the orchestra sounded weird.

  • Marcecadar is right, I have this dvd and the quality of sound is much better than this one (copy from a very damaged VHS I think), the orchestra really made a very good job.

  • 29.12.2010. in some comments people speak of bad orchestra and bad playing. This production was recorded in 1992 in the Hague ( netherlands). The orchestra, chorus and principle singers did a wonderfull job. the fact that it sounds like crab in here is caused by technical causes. I know this for sure becauses I worked in this production myself.

in some comments here people speak of bad orchestra and bad playing.I must say this production was recorded in 1992 in the Hague ( netherlands). the orchestra, soloists and principle singers did a wonderfull job. also the recording is of a great quality. what sounds here must be a technical thing.

try to find the dvd, published by arthaus musik.

  • Lovely light baritone, very clear coloratura.

  • Rossini: The Barber of Seville - Figaro's Aria - Le GRAND AIR de FIGARO...

Place au factotum de la Ville!

    Une pure merveille...

  • i think this is NOT only a recording problem,

this orchesra has a problem of playing...

  • Thumbs up if Prince Poppycock brought you here :)

  • @NicholasCrensen --HAHAHA!!! i think alot of people now interested in opera have Prince Poppycock to thank!!! i can't get enough of the arias he sang!!!

  • @NicholasCrensen Nope, Woody Woodpecker!

  • @NicholasCrensen Surprisingly I like Poppycock's version more! And he should have won. The end.

  • GREAT TALENT. Beautiful voice. HE IS VERY ORIGINAL AND UNIQUE. WHAT a WONDERFUL INTERPRETATION. NICE JOB. THANKS FOR SHARING IT.

  • Some of the people in the orchestra should be fired.

  • @TheaterMarine88 Nah, I don't hear anything wrong other than the sound engineer who recorded this.

  • @otharennaur from 1992. Probably recorded on VHS or worse.

  • @scorch0188 That may explain it. Anyway, very good performance, I could listen to this piece forever, I love the ending "Ah, bravo Figaro, bravo, bravissimo, a te fortuna non manchea" it's just so funny =)

  • fuckin' miss doubtfire

  • Ma che c'entrano le palle??!

  • fac totum, latin, to do/make everything. A man of many roles or general servant.

  • wow.

  • "The city barber"

  • facto shares a rot with he french verb "faire", meaning to do. tum shares a root with the french "tout" and the italian "tutti", meaning all.

So, a factotum is literally someone who can do anything/everything

  • it's wrong factotum is from latin...it means a person who knows more jobs...sorry for the english i'm italian XDXD...facto comes from latin verb facio, facis, feci, factum facere. tum is a word which was cut...it's from totum...

  • Hi, folks. I'll be performing this piece at a talent show on Saturday night. Wish me luck!

  • @captainredneck1983 Sorry it's a lil late... but how did it go? = )

  • @castlekiller157 First prize!

  • There's no literal translation. Basically, it means a go-to guy.

  • a shame that the recording quality changes the tonality avery other note ;)

  • its different for opera, the vocal Fachs are not defined the same as choir; not baritone or tenor. He is either a dramatic tenor (a powerful , heroic voice) or a Basso Buffo (rapid notes usually a comic role). Im leaning toward Baso Buffo.

  • what then, defines a baritone of the mozart comic style?

  • see same clip with great sound under move thomas david malis.

  • the orchestra is stunning, out of tune in a very bad way O___O

  • Someone should ask directly to him either he is tenor or baritone :)

  • He's my teacher right now in Salzburg and he's definitely a baritone - a high, light baritone but a baritone nonetheless.

  • @1jesus2music3duke I'm intrigued by your nom de plume... who's duke? [Lol...] Is it the 3 loves of your life... if so, mine is the same [except duke...!!]

  • @1jesus2music3duke

Ofc he is a bartione why else would he sing this

  • good

  • DEFINITELY a tenor. Just listen to how much chest he brings up to the A and all of the G's... Plus he barely has any core in his sound singin this role. I hope he knows this, and is just singing a baritone role for kicks or SOMETHING. It's not a bad voice and it would be a shame for it to go to waste singing in the wrong fach.

  • Definetely a Lyric Baritone!!!!! Has the rich sound of the Baritone but can be confused with a Dramatic tenor... The Tesitura is almost the same Ab to Ab.... (I'm one of those....)

  • If you want to hear a real baritone sing this, listen to Tita Ruffo, Robert Merill, or Leonard Warren.

Mario DelMonaco sounds more like a baritone singing this song than this guy, and he was a tenor!

  • bellissimo!

  • it's tenor 100%

  • he's a tenor, yes, but the role is baritone.

  • sorry but he is not tenor, he is baritone

  • yes he is vedry clearly a baritone......

  • I agree! Who can help him?

  • Huh, I hope it is the recording lol, because that guy doesn't sound like a baritone at all, merely a heavy tenor...

  • veri nice

  • I know...is it not?

  • Dear. Let's start with the good things. The director tried to make the staging more active. And the singer seems to have a good voice, but it's hard to tell since the quality of the recording is so bad. It's a shame that the recording doesn't pick up the instruments very well, but we do hear the constant dragging of shoes across the stage.

  • Is the recording: The recording is very bad....but, if still this seem not too bad, maybe is because they are really good...im sorry for the recording...

  • The recording must have been corrupted. The audience is clapping at the end.

  • Why is this five stars?

The singing is three stars and the ORChestra is one star.

  • ne ho visti 3 diversi tutti belli ma questo è il più bello lui troppo bravo cantae fa giocoleria ce ne fosse ancora di gente così altro che justin timberlake!

  • they ARE off tune on 3:50

  • is it just me, or is this orchestra absolutely HORRIBLY out of tune???

  • I was thinking that

  • It feels like he modulates about five times!

  • this dude sucks

  • I didnt buy the "variety show" by the townspeople, the vocalist should have been on stage alone.

  • It's opera what do you expect?

  • Yea I know, but this was just too corny.

  • Very Good!

  • who is this singer?

  • I think David Malis

  • I think David Malis

  • david mallis esta cantando que interpreta el papel de figaro. canta bien, pero non podemos entender todas del las palabras in cancion. esta' todavia hermosa:)

  • ¿Alguien conoce el nombre del cantante que interpreta el papel de Fígaro?

  • excellent

  • Sorry clicked on the wrong hand...

  • BRAVISSIMO! i love this aria! actually this exact same video i saw at my History of the Music class on VHS, ahhh... thanks for uploading!
