I don't believe Tajikistan and Iran are trying to mess it up. The only places I think are trying to mess it up is Pakistan and Arabistan (Arabia).

The Tajiks were in Afghanistan before the Pashtuns. Pashtuns are Persianized Jews, just like how Hazaras are Persianized Mongols.

The Tajiks (Persians) are the original people in Afghanistan and Afghanistan is a Persian country, just like Iran and Tajikistan. Although they are not part of the modern Persian Empire (Iran) the native people are still Persians. Pashtuns are not native to Afghanistan so they are not Persian.
