  • I agree wtih Mr. Bowden: the tea party movement must stand for government as the protector of individual rights--and nothing more--no welfare state and no regulatory state. Fundamentally, the idea of government as protector of individual rights is based on the moral principle that the individual has the right to exist for his own sake: he is NOT is brother's keeper. The individual does not have a duty to sacrifice for or to serve others. Hopefully, the tea party movement will understand this.
