I haven't a horse in this race because I consider all the candidates to have pros and cons. But, frankly, you're not being fair. While I only watched the first few minutes, Gingrich was simply talking about not dismissing Reps who aren't doctrinaire. And sometimes in POLITICS you have to accept half a loaf if you want to be able to do any good at all. Moreover, this was years ago, and Gingrich has since converted to Catholicism. And IF that conversion is sincere, it's very meaningful.

@EternalAnachronism I agree! And yet Gingrich blasts Romney for his efforts to work with an 85% Democrat congress when he was governor. They had the power to override every veto Romney made (800 of them) and often did. He had to get along to create results for the people of Massachusetts. Now Gingrich belittles Romney for being a good leader and bringing people together to create solutions when he had little power, only influence. And that takes character.

I think this is all happening so that a reasonable 3rd party can be established in this country and be able to stick around and have traction and not be perceived as a protest vote but a party with a clear charter and coherent platform.
