I've travelled to seoul quite a few times since last year i've flown with Emirates, Finnair, Qatar airways and aeroflot, Im going back again boxing day this year but not sure who with, I think I might go with KLM or Lufthansa, What did you do to entertain yourself on board one of these combi's

Read books and mags. Entertainment system on the 747 combi is rubbish. A few drop down tv's and thats about it. Otherwise a good flight but badly let down by a lack of entertainment.

Oh right, I don't think I can read for like 10 hours, I struggle to sleep on red eye flights :(.. I have read that KLM are installing ptvs on all of their 747's by the end of the year but I don't know if they include the combi's, or not..

How was your visit to seoul/korean in general?

Seoul in general is well worth a visit, really good airport, friendly people, fairly clean and tidy. Was only there for 2 days while on the way to Sakhalin Island, Russia.

I'm glad you liked seoul, I spent quite alot of time there last year, last summer i was in seoul for a month and busan and jeju for 2 weeks, then i went back to seoul in october for 3 weeks as my girlfriend is korean..

How is sakhalin island? and what made you go there? if you don't mind me asking of course

I worked on Sakhalin Island for 5 months. Testing the oil and gas pipelines. There is only one answer for Sakhalin - a nuclear bomb and come back in 30 years time and start all over. Its really 3rd world and run down. Also have a few vids on youtube, driving through Sakhalin and landing at Yuzhno airport.

@amarth23 Now its not rubbish, lufthansa is upgrading their 747s and it now has very nice touch screen personal TVs and KLM have the same thing their 777-300ERs on their 747s now so the 747s are now more fun to fly ;) enjoy

how long a flight

about 12 hours. plane left on time, good crew, good food but the only thing that really lets KLM down is the entertainment system. these 747's have a few tv's hanging from the roof and thats about it, something out of the 80's.

Yup, that's true for KLM 747s. But their new planes have a good entertainment system (by 'new' I mean A330 and such).
