I am a singer and Lou Gramm is an idol to me. .I give Kelly Hansen a lot of credit because Foreigner songs are very difficult to sing. He has tough shoes to fill, and I'm sure he knows it.

I agree with wileybeast.. When they start recording albums on a regular basis, then you gain credibility. I was a HUGE Foreigner fan with Lou Gramm singing yet I can't bring my self to get excited about this incarnation despite Too Late which is actually a very good song with a distinctive Old Foreigner sound.. AC/DC is another band who became huge after getting a new singer however I can't imagine Keith being the only member in the Stones and people getting excited about them.

Mick has chosen to try and cash in on the Foreigner name even though he is the only remaining member. It is my opinion that this is nothing more than a cover band. Lou has moved on and is singing as well as he can. God bless him for trying. If Mick has any artistic credibility left he should at least come out with new material and not another greatest hits compilation again. He is tarnishing the Foreigner repuptation and risks joining the Holiday Inn entertainment circuit.

wileybeast: Holiday Inn circuit? How about PBS Soundstage. The cover of Billboard magazine. The worldwide reviews of their shows has been overwhelmingly positive. I can guarantee that wouldn't have happened if Lou was still fronting the band as he sounds marginally better than he did six years ago...which still isn't good enough as sad as that is to admit.

I don't disagree that Lou Gramm is not the singer he once was. I guess I am just a purest and don't think anyone can fill his shoes. The current lineup is very talented but it ain't Foreigner. Plus Mick Jones has been milking this cash cow so long with greatest hits album it is sickening. If they really want to impress the fan base they should release an entire album of new material not just one song to get you to buy the same old same old. Just my opinion.

Wiley: I hear ya but if you're a purist then you would've stopped liking Foreigner the moment Mick dumped Ian McDonald after the Head Games album. Foreigner's music changed quite a bit after Ian's dismissal since he had big hand in the songwriting during the first three albums...and not for the better. Yeah, it's different now but I'm just glad to hear the songs being performed like they were intended. I do agree about the need to release new material...enough with the greatest hits packages.

For me Lou Gramm and Mick Jones are Foreigner. No disrepect to any of the muscians who have played with and become part of Foreigner. You don't replace Lou Gramm with anyone much less Mick Jones. Kelly Hansen is a talented singer but he is merely imitating Lou Gramm in his hey day. If you had them side by side when Lou was healthy there would be no comparison. If Kelly is so talented he should have struck out on his own and acheived his own fame and not rode the coat tails of Lou and Mick.

Lou had no equal in his prime. I like Kelly quite a bit but I know nobody can fully replace a healthy Lou Gramm. I'm not delusional thinking that it will ever be the same. I just got tired of watching Lou struggle at the shows. Ian was a major contributor to the "Foreigner sound" in the early years and , in fact, he was the first member hired by Mick..Lou was the last piece of the equation.The songwriting changed immediately as 4 was different than the first three albums.4 was hit &and miss,IMO

Good comments. I guess in closing a lot of bands have gone through bandmember change ups. However, there are some groups that simply have such a distinct sound that it is impossible to replicate. For example: The Who, The Stones, U2, etc. VanHalen is probably the only group I can think of that succesfully replaced a lead singer and actually had new hits with the new lead singer. If Kelly and Mick could do that I would have more respect for them instead of just singing oldies

Kelly Hansen is no Lou Gramm and I think it would be better if they just tryed to focus on new music like Too Late instead of a cheap cover of the classics. You wouldn't want to have a remake of Mona Lisa you sure as heck can not top Lou Gramm in his prime! Sure Lou isn't the singer he once was but this taints it for me.

Totally deliver?! I saw Foreigner fourteen times during the '99,00 and '02 tours and I can think of only two shows where he sounded pretty good...nothing like his pre-op days but he was OK. He was either so-so or bad at the other twelve shows. I went to the shows because I've always loved the music. Unfortunately, the songs were forced to be done in a lower key due to Lou's diminished range...fully understandable but from a fan's perspective even I had to admit the shows weren't all that great.

I was there at the show. Kelly is definitely comparable to Lou Gramm. He is a good fit for the band. They put on one heck of a show that night.
