She's not a bitch, she's a mom. This exact thing happened with me and my mom when I was 14. Being a parent is hard, I'm sure she's a great mother. If she wasn't, she wouldn't give a shit about her son. Obviously she does.

I'm now 37 years old, and she *still* can't cope with the fact that I don't believe in her god, or any other, or that I can run rings around her in any theological discussion. She has her good points, but yes, she is very much a bitch. Family is not a "get out of jail free" card. All it offers is a chance. How it's used is up to the individual.
