  • Bill Maher is deluded. Just like many people who listen to him.

  • oh dear, these religious windbags love to be victims, don't they?

  • Idiots: He is uncertain about the nature of God, that`s what he said, but he indeed is quite certain about the illegetimacy of religion, their concepts and principles. And I think he has every reason to be

  • Religion is for fucking idiots - pathetic sheep who deserve pity not respect. Some people believe children are witches and should be killed - anyone who believes in god, jesus or any of that bullshit is no better than these freaks

  • This movie is about the fear inflicted upon the psyche of an individual. Plain.

  • The first guy sounds like Bill Maher.

  • This was a very poor deconstruction. I still side with Bill Maher.

  • I really enjoyed the movie and as an agnostic such as Bill (though he claims atheism) i agree with 99.9% of the thing he said, however the idea that religious is not winding down is misguided in the documentary and im proud to say if you read polls at least in America and Europe everyday more and more people come to disbelief or question. Religion isnt that bad and i dont hate most of the people that believe but lets face it you have to be some what idiotic to believe every word of the bible...

  • Nope these believers will never admit defeat. They have wasted too much time on it that its too late to turn back. So they hide behind their "intellectual" front trying their best to defend something they KNOW is obsolete and unnecessary. Secularism can take the great things from religion and not have it become tainted by the price of belief without evidence. You lost my friend, I am truly sorry.

  • fuck religion

  • But isn't religion as stupid as it possibly could be? Its hard to think there would be room for even more stupidity. :o\

  • I see no problem in bill maher admiting that he doesn´t know and then mocking the people who claims they know. That is the point. He mocks the people who claims to know stuff about stuff they can´t possibly know anything about. I can respect someones belief that there might be some form of "higher power", but I have no respect for people who thinks they know what that higher power is or what it wants. And if you think it writes books, your nuts

  • i love listening to angry jews

  • This isn't deconstruction. Read Derrida and then rename your video.

Oh, and to angry guy at 2:04: "I don't know" is perhaps the most important intellectual step humanity has ever taken. Because it always points to discovery.

  • These guys are the crazies!

  • What a deconstruction. HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • these guys really don't get premise and are reading into it

  • As a christian i just have to say. Why should religious people get uptight about atheist mocking them? Just ignore them and let them waste their breath. Its pretty obvious that they have nothing better to do. And if you really are that passionate about it, debunk their claims about religion, and then mock atheism. Simple. I do it all the time. If mocking religion is the name of the game, mocking atheism is the come back. Simple

  • A group of rabbis - what do you expect - an apologetic chorus. In "Religulous" Bill Maher saves a lot of uncomfortable questions. He was very merciful. Judeo-Christian religious dogma is so infantile and unfit for the contemporary human mind so the only way to indoctrinate someone in it is start from early age; no wander believer give up on the dogma in their teenage years. Only the tyranny of the family tradition can stop young people to to apply their natural sense of critical rejection.

  • These responses are exactly why mockery and making fun of the religious actually work. It made these people angry and embarrassed and it made them think. If you try to debate them, treat them as intelligent equals, they parrot off that by-the-book crap they've been spoon-fed for years. If you make them mad, embarrass them by comparing their sky-daddy to the tooth fairy, they have to think at least a little bit to reply.

  • what the top rated comment says is bullshit: they even mention Maher saying that he doesn't know - and then they correctly point out, that Maher nevertheless does as if he would know

  • @wildhias In what way do you mean that Maher acts as if he knows?

  • @wildhias When Bill Maher says I don't know he is referring to the question what happens to you when you die. He is certain though that talking snakes don't exist, the world is more than 5000 years old and all the other fairy tales in the bible are untrue. THOSE ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS PEOPLE!

  • i think those Rabbis are much more intelligent thant most of the comments i read on that page - and i enjoy the movie very much

  • Idoits...complete idiots...

  • Ad hominem to the max...no substantial arguments of any kind. Major fail.

  • This video is more about people complaining about how Bill Maher said what did, as opposed to refuting what he actually said

  • Jewish intelligence?

  • very good points. I still love the movie religulous because it makes you take a critical look at religious crack pots. This does not happen enough in this world. I think that religion is 50 bad and 50 percent good. the problem is getting religious people to stand against the crazy people and acknowleging that Religion has issues.

  • this is disappointing. It's Not About What's Good Or Bad, It's About What's TRUE. Actually, we would be better off without religion, but that's not even the point. People come up with all these crazy stories and bizarre religions to answer Life's biggest questions, but as Maher points out, WE DON'T KNOW YET. We should be turning to fact-based sciences to learn the answers instead of imagining up half-assed stories as to why the universe is as it is.

  • Stop whining. Go kill people in another country and think of yourselves religious crazies.

  • religions suck , except buddhism , that is THERAVADA BUDDHISM , long live bill maher

  • "If you don't know, be a little humble." Good advice for Bill Maher, smug bastard.

  • @MrPmj1979 Bill Maher wasn't simply stating that he doesn't know, he was making the point that he doesn't know, therefor they shouldn't know either

  • The so called holy books of most of religions had and has a direct impact on gullible humans and is transforming them in fundamentalist nuts. The rest of the religious people should be aware that these fundamentalist nuts are the closest ones to really practice the words of those holly books. That is the kind of morality that you can draw from these books, a real crazy and incredible stupid one.

  • Bill Maher clearly walked right trough their sandbox.

  • "great comics need to know when to cry" WTF is he talking about?????

  • these guys are SO delusional!

  • You know what I never understood about Christianity? Well, pretty much everything but mostly the bit about the devil. God is all powerful, right? So why is he in some dumb ass contest for the souls of humans with an ex-angel of his? Why would he not just shut the devil down? If god is all powerful, the devil SHOULD be no threat. God SHOULD be able to crush him any time he wants. So why play this game with him. And if God loves us all and he is all powerful and can crush the devil, no problem...

  • Religion is the true cancer of this world. Why can't God talk to everyone @ once on Earth so there's no confusion and settle all our differences?, you know why cause there is no God!!. You wish there was because your selfish and want to live forever you religious peices of shi+

  • well, i'm roman catholic not Jewish, but thank you to the makers of this, bill maher is just plain wrong on this, anyone who knows anything about religion can see that.

  • just cuz these guys say bill maher is contradicting himself saying that he doesn't know, but then says he knows religions are wrong doesn't make religions any less dumb and wrong. it's still fucking dumb...

  • Religion should be personal... not shared through indoctrination. Why should people be forced to hear nonesense about what you believe or what this priest believes or anybody for that matter... make your own religion... worship your own God do whats best for you... not for some dogmatic institution that based on ancient lie.

  • Chinese civilization didn't have the image or idea of God for thousand of years and they are doing just fine.

  • A Rabbi is in no position to be objective about this movie. Religion is the opium of the people.

  • I hope you guys will reconstruct my movie " WIZARDS ARE COOL" once i make it.

First i need to get elected.

  • Any modest human being is quite legitimate in illuminating the stupidity of religious belief when he DOUBTS the origin of our being, or thus... end.

Doubt does NOT account for your religious beliefs.

  • for starters, what's so special about judaism?

why are they so certain it's them who have the truth?

and then, yes, nations with a large percentage of atheists DO have less crime, better education, health benefits, homeless, unemployed etc.

it's been proven by studies time and time again

while religious nations are more aggressive (as taught by their religion) and warlike

  • Well... Rabbis... present your arguments to give Bill a reason not to conclude faith is absurd.

  • Being that defensive is a best proof that he BM toughed the nerve. One of the rabbi made point himself - he basical implied that it's not that god and religious is the truth, is that it's easier to manage society with the religion. He thinks it's good for us based on the history. Well and I say don't tell me what is good for me, I can think myself what is good for me. 99.9% criminals in US prisons are religious - doesn't look like religion is helping.

  • lol @ 5:13

  • I really can not fucking get it through my head how people can be so back and fourth on this stuff. It's simple, really it is. Could a god or godess exist? no fucking shit, we exist, on a fucking ball in the middle of nothing, surrounded by other balls in the middle of nothing. But is the stuff written in text true? No. Nothing more too it.

  • @AnarchistCommunity LMFAO at your name.

  • @ldreiiyeiistk lol, thats not MY name, friend. Thats an orginization I started about two years ago, and this is the account I used for political discussion and news and what not, only recently have I used it for personal reasons. So in all fairness, LMFAO at your mistake.

  • @ldreiiyeiistk - Why is anarchist community is a funny name?

  • I think Maher _was_ certain that the religious that he interviewed was wrong, and the reviewers here know it too. How can these people KNOW what God thinks?

Maher's claim of "I don't know" regards that there are things that can be known, and religion is not among them.

Maher fulfills the role of royal jester.

  • At 4:34 the guy says before you tear down a fence have a look why was it erected. Meaning that religion and God was invented (erected) to keep the people locked up! To keep them under control. I would say this more reason to tear it down! Of course, he saying that al this is made up, but we need it, we need them, other ways there would be anarchy. People would not fear of God punishing and would kill rape and pillage.

  • 2:03 is this guy senile? The problem is exactly that religious people don`t know either but they are too arrogant to admit it. So they make up total BS to make themselves feel special. And it isn`t so difficult to realise an explanation is stupid enven if one doesn`t know the right one yet.

  • question to the Rabbi. Would not that be right to say I am not violent and I will not be violent because I am good person. And I know If I am violent I will be punished by the law of the land. Than to say I am will not be violent because god will send me to hell after i die? who cares weather God will send some one hell after he did what he want to do!!

  • LOL. What Bill says is that he don't know and you neither.

It's easy yo know about religions, but not about god that is what people think they know perfectply

  • I'm an atheist of Jewish background. I found the movie somewhat funny at best, but not informative at all. Religious governing and organizations beget dogmas and that's bad and dangerous, but I have no quarrel with personal beliefs.

As for Maher, he's a clown. He is not s scientist or a sceptic, he's too sure of himself on some issues he should not be, that's absolutely true, but I'm aftraid I do agree with him about organized religions' impact on education and public policies.

  • ... why not mock idiocy? Is it better to leave it "respected"..?

  • @ErikeRKK As a society, we don't make fun of the intelligence of the mentally handicapped, so why would that change when the person is smarter? Doing so would be discrimination. Make fun of the theory, not the person.

  • @ldreiiyeiistk

Sorry, what? Are you comparing religious people with mentally handicapped people..?

  • I don't give a shit about your king old man,Maher's a fine comedian and he was quite humble considering what the rest of us think you religulous people deserve.

  • So far every reaction video to this movie I've watched has been as lame as our continued reliance upon ancient fairy tales designed to help man "understand" his purpose.....hey, guess what? I do believe in God! Just not the same God as you. I believe we were created with a brain, the power to think for ourselves, to reason, and frankly, I don't think we're necessarily SUPPOSED to know our purpose...not yet, anyway!

  • hahahhhahahahha, maher rules!!!, this is the best u have asshole!!!

  • CLumsyroot nailed it. It is a great point to make that Maher is taking a percentage of christians views, but is way more than 10 percent nailed on the head. The movie did not focus on the extreme faiths and beliefs, but it is valid to bring them up because they are a part of the whole of religion. People like Maher should not make "fair and balanced" movies, because it is entertainment and he is making HIS point. Having said that, he tackles a touchy subject with humor. you can only laugh

  • Bill Maher, where is Religulous II going to come out?

  • Bill Maher is the little voice in your head that wants to ask the questions your to scared to ask. He is the only guy I know that asks the hard questions, if you think thats being an asshole then i wish there were more people out there. As for the movie, it gives the viewer a perspective on religion in general and how it is fucking up our society. "Either Religion dies or all of mankind" If this post was deleted then fuck you.

  • You said it man! We need to bring all the supposedly sacred and indisputable shit to the fore. Science is all we know. I eat food and a little while later I take a shit. Forget about religion and we all live happily ever after. Humans are getting to smart for it.

  • To bad that Unless we terminate religion and the concept christianity and other religions it will only be our pitfall to humanity. No matter how long or short life maybe, the difficulties and the pleasures, always remember that in the end you have to look yourself in the mirror and take it one day at a time. If nothing of my opinion affected anyone then watch the movie Charles darwin and the Tree of life. If that doesn't broaden your horizon then I don't know what to do.

  • "Maher is 100% correct about 10% of religion"? I see the point, but I'd dispute the 10% figure. In the United State, nearly half of the population subscribes to religious beliefs that can be properly described as "fundamentalist."

These people are NOT a small minority, which gives Maher's movie more relevance that some would admit.

  • I enjoyed the movie and got a lot out of watching it, but I think your critique here of the movie is dead on, as well. He did come off very definitive and rude while he mocked believers.

  • at 1:55 the guy says that bill maher is sure of himself basically.... umm no... in fact at the movie he says 'I DONT KNOW'. it is like these assholes didnt even watch the movie.

  • @bonfirejovi they watched it, but they just twisting the message in order to fit in their explanation. I wonder why they didn't comment on the scene about the gadgets that they "invent" to fool the rules of Sabbath

  • @bonfirejovi And a few seconds later they discuss how he says 'I DONT KNOW'. it's almost like you didn't even watch the video

  • @bonfirejovi yes he did say "I DONT KNOW", but he is sure of himself 100%. When he says "I DONT KNOW" to a religious person, he means that he doesnt know, therefor they shouldn't know either

  • I'm certain. There's no god. Religion is poison & a deterent to humanity. All these Cats are charlatans...

  • Humm... I am certain there is a God. Christianity is the balm of reality and mankinds greatest hope ... Strange ...

  • he wasn't "mocking", he was asking questions.

  • ascdscds dfdsfsdfds dfdsfdsfsd

  • I loved the Movie !! good Job

  • This video is unconvincing and religulous.

  • He denounces Charlatans, and did a great job! But oh no... he speaks of us, and that is where the line is drawn. He is no longer funny, and these ideas are no longer worthwhile, because he has targeted us.

These guys will laugh at the silly things in other religions but won't acknowledge their own. This is what happens when religion is taken as real, it gives people the idea that they are holier or "more correct" than everyone else. Overcoming one's ego is like overcoming God, they are the same

  • To the three Rabbis:

    1) thou doth protest too much, Maher's approach actually seems more humble than yours

    2) reality check: there are societies that are less religious (Sweden, Japan) and others that are more religious (USA, Iran), and the correlation between intensity of religious belief and tendency towards poor behavior towards ones fellow human beings appears to be strong and linear :(

  • Well said! These guys really aren't all together but I suppose it's hard to understand new things when you've been taught one thing your entire life. The one white-haired man even gets red with anger when he talks about Maher's supposed "certainty" towards religion. What they don't understand is that some people adhere to the belief that any inconceivably improbable possibility regarding reality may actually be real. The main thing is probability, and these old men will never understand that.

  • You guys just don't understand! Maher wasn't just saying "I don't know" he was saying "I don't know and wither do you!." This does not mean that Bill Maher is certain that all religion is false, but rather the evidence tells us that! He is not denying the existence of a higher power, he is denying the image of God that has been created by men!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You want NUTS go here:

    watch?v=GZfqJR_rqNY&feature=channel_page

  • saying prove god is like saying prove gravity you cant you can let go of something but that doesnt prove gravity it only proves that something fell

  • Why we should question religion'

  • Who grow up to be adults with warped ideas they must force on children because it's "tradition". isn't tadition just doing something to someone becase someone did it to you? Good or bad, seems like a waste of time. People might have to think for themselves. Oh my...that just can't happen lest the world as we know it be lost. Well, I'm waiting...

  • To be so ucomfortable about questioning any faith only proves they know deep down it's not true, and God is the only way to "win" an argument in their head. Bill only proves they're are NO Rules, no rights and no groups, for Anyone. It's all man-made, and make believe. More like Force-believe (for fear of death/hell). What a nice way to abuse "innocent" children.

  • bla bla bla ...they are just bashing on Bill and his documentary ...

  • they're ripping it to shreds actually.....bill Maher's has a sunday school level knowledge about the Bible and tries to debunk it for people who have studied it their whole life. its like a little kid who has a toy car trying to tell a mechanic why its stupid to believe a car has a motor

  • What are you talking about religion being literally, its right there on the book. Anyways when I see people who run our country beleiving in nonsense that is a problem and I will call them stupid. They are grown adults they should know better. Simple point religion should not be taken literally it shoudnt be taken at all as more than a story with certain moral lessons.. Except for the old testament with our angry selfish, jelous god, what a change for the 2nd testament forgiving loving etc.

  • Hey!.....this statement is directed to the hairpiece guy in the vid....ppl of FAITH need to be a bit more HUMBLE, because THEY are the ones who profess to KNOW...when in fact THEY DON'T!! A belief is a BELIEF.....it's NOT FACT. Bill Maher simply asks questions, which is what religous fanatics don't do. They would rather BELIEVE in their own minds that an invisible nanny is watching over us. ...God said this...God said that....Jesus said this....Jesus said that...NOBODY KNOWS!! Stop the insanity!

  • Religion is just a Moral Compass its stupid and it comes at a cost. Also religion is NOT HISTORY, History do not reffer to any CHARACTER in religious books. He makes a joke out of religion in his movie because its a point that needs to be proven people who are religious people live in stupidity they live in a joke and as grown adults thats the embarassing fact. Religion may have been good for a certain point in time in history understand why religion was made, and know why we now dont need it.

  • Plenty of scientists and thinkers in our modern day academic circles also believe in God. You're painting a group of ppl with an enormously large brush, and I think it's a bit unfair.

Certainly many aspects of religion should not be taken literally. But to reject altogether the idea of a God, or to call all those who believe in him "stupid", is a bit childish.

    Anyway, take care.

  • I thinks it really hilarious that almost everyone who is religous is pissed when you ask them questions about their faith. As soon as you start ask question they say "OOhhh you´re making fun of me." The only thing he´s doing is asking questions and the only funny things are what these people are answering.

  • all I hear is "he made fun of us" in 5 minutes of defensive doublespeak. The rabbi says "if you don't know, then be a little humble" - that's right Maher DOESN'T know, that's why he's trying to disprove your CERTAIN belief that things happened just like the bible. He's reacting like a little kid instead of forming a reasonable argument and conversation. Go look up "George Carlin and Religion", you'll be glad you did!

  • Okay, why didn't you guys tell us something NEW?? What is in fact real about the bible that we can count on as real information?? Why did you not enlighten us with something of value? Some of us really want to know, but all we get is Blah Blah "its wrong to make fun of fairy tails without knowing the facts." is all you say but then we get nothing from you. Someone will see Jesus in a stain on the wall soon and what will we have to balance it with?

  • im not religious but by reading any religions book like the bible, the tora, bhagavad gita or anyother, its easy to realize which parts are fables or moral lessons and which are facts, maybe people in that time were smarter and could analyze it, but in this idolatrous, short sighted society, most dont really try to understand and just criticize or swallow what they read. if by reading the bible you cant see what is ment to be taken as a fable then you shouldnt read it.

  • The 'danger of religion' Maher presents is that religion is divisive. Wars are fought over religion. Missionaries arrogantly enforce beliefs on others.

Was Maher supposing that an absence of religion will bring us to Utopia? No, but rationality and level-headedness couldn't hurt.

Metaphors. Ive been to websites that try to prove how Noah's ark could house all the animals in the world-can you find the absurdity in that statement?

Look at societies without God? Fine. How about Sweden or Japan?

  • Rabbi Blech, you are so passionate!

  • "Deeds not creeds"

Awesome. The Unitarian Universalists say exactly the same thing. They're pretty cool.

  • Wow, you guys at least liked the movie but you really don't say anything smart. Why is it that no one really talks about the deeper issues. Forget a book and stop trying to analyze everything. Just except that you won't know until you die so enjoy the doubt. It's fun not knowing what your getting for christmas, right? So apply that to your death. Be surprised but don't try to guess whats in the gift.

  • The problem with bibles is that they degrate women. God is considered a he and you picture him as male. That is proof that the bible was made by men to control women. And it did for a few hundred years and still does in many places of the world. God is energy not some stupid book with boring stories that make no sense.....

  • I agree in a sense to your statement about the bible being invented by man, but not solely to control women. More to help people understand what they couldn't and provide a moral compass while promising hell for those who don't believe in it, creating a forceful belief system.

  • RELIGIONS ARE USELESS...except for milking money out of poor believing idiots...

  • Guy at 2:15 needs to calm down lol

  • Guy at 2.15 has a point.

  • if guy at 2:15 had any REAL argument against Maher, he would provide us with REAL evidence. That's what the movie is about - not having physical evidence, asking the people to believe in fairy tales, involving one of ALLAH or JESUS depending on which part of the world you live in.....

  • Guy at 2:15 has a hairpiece, not a point.

  • To the fat in the beard, If we took away religion, we dont go back to prehistoric times and violence. We have a society and laws you moron!!!!

  • these guys are idiots!!

Give me a break. The guy says Bill is 100% accurate about 10% of religion??

If 10% of religion is ridiculous, than in my opinion,, 100% of it is ridiculous. I love how bible thumpers try to say "yes the bible has inaccuracies.. but the rest is true!"

  • i dont believe in god.

  • This stupid movie trys to explain God using the sience, and thats not correct. Because its not necesary to do that, thats why the faith exist. I dont believe in cristianism but also i dont like this stupids movies that trys to explain all using maths or logic. U cant explain love with maths for example. Its like say that Bram Stoker was a fool, and liar cuz the vampires dont exist.

  • Yeah... love has been explained by chemistry and anatomy, not math. Bill Mar is a dude that documented himself very well before talking. He knows what he's saying, unlike you. And on another note i find religion appalling and manipulative, yet necessary. Imagine the people that live a very harsh life... they need something to hang on to, otherwise they would commit suicide or go insane. Bottom line: BELIEVE IN GOD IF YOU NEED TO! But do not force religion on someone.

  • Some people try to explain love with maths and sciense. So people who believe in god got a harsh life? thats a very poor opinion.

This movie got a big mistake. And you cant see it?. You gotta read more books guys.

  • The movie doesn't explain God using science, it makes people think, and question religion.

  • You're debating personal reality in comparison to fact or truth - things that are - of course these debates go around and around and around with the arguments.... the bible is a representation of what christianity is based on but just like any singular experience - interpretation is subjective (either in a singular sense or a collective sense) as long as this remains subjective it is difficult to prove it as fact using scientific methods.

  • Evidence that can be reproduced by anyone at anytime is what is known as fact or truth according to science. Religion is based on faith, beliefs, - these are personal experience, interpretation and conviction. It is not whether religion is crazy that is being debated it is 'does evidence that can not be reproduced in order to support theories and claims over and over again; have any weight in terms of collective truthful reality... as in 'what is'

  • He's not making fun of it, he's just trying to show how ridiculous it is, because, if the bible is not literal, then its not real, if fictitous, just a plain idea, created by men by lonely men.

  • Doubt and uncertainty about reality, the world, the universe, etc. is quite compatible with certainty about religion. It's not doubt about everything that agnostics preach. They wouldn't attack the claim that 2 plus 2 is 4.

  • All the religious folks in this video DONT INSIST THAT THE BIBLE BE TAKEN LITERALLY. THEY SAY IT IS OKAY TO TAKE IT AS A METAPHOR. Another word for a metaphorical story is MYTH. So Bill Maher, and me, and ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS VIDEO AGREE, that the Bible is MYTHOLOGY. As long as we can all say together that the Bible is MYTHOLOGY, like the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, The Book of Mormon, and The Iliad and The Odyssey, THEN WE HAVE NO PROBLEM. The problem is when people TAKE THE BIBLE LITERALLY.

  • haha anybody else get a laugh when the guys like ya bill maher thought he knew that all religion was stupid and then next clip...bill maher said he didn't know! his philosophy was not knowing!

  • i mean i know he later explained himself but still caught me offgaurd haha

  • Wish I lived in Europe where less than half the population has any religious affiliation and their society functions a hell lot better than America.

  • All this video did for me was solidify the fact that, in old age, people have a hard time coming to grips with the fact that they are going to die. It drains the inspiration and motivation to want to improve the current human condition. Because religion is like this vice around your balls, it makes you fear death, when you shouldn't, because EVERYTHING lives and EVERYTHING dies, it's nature. I think every person should want to aspire to use their lifetime to make tomarrow a better place.

  • Well, I'm 20, not that old, was an atheist, now I'm an Orthodox Christian. Doesn't "drain" any inspiration for I'm an artistic person, and doesn't "drain" any motivation to improve things either. I don't fear death, I only feel uncomfortable about a shameful death. Because, as you said, everyhing lives, and everything dies. And you added something important: it's nature. Correct, because it's two completely different things to deal with.

And it's "tomorrow"* lol ok, take care.

  • pause @ 4:16 LOL

  • well.. . . I am rather certain that no one religion is right.. what makes one right and the rest of them wrong? I was raised protestant and believed everything I was being taught until I met my jewish neighbor.. then a muslim in elementary school... and then I learned about how the greeks had a religion, and about hindus and all the other religions, and I thought.. well they must have all been made up by PEOPLE.

  • Be humble? No. He's *certain* in his not knowing. What part about it didn't you get? You be less religious and maybe he'll agree to be more humble but then again, I really don't know.

  • 'if you don't know than bee a little humble'. now how does that mean one should give credit to some delusional maniac who believes in outrageous things that not only have no proof, but insult people's integrity and intelligence?

  • One of them is so mad he looks like he's having a heart attack. Just because Maher jokes about their religion. I don't know if I should cry or laugh.

  • Religulous is about a guy who doesn't know bashing others who claim to know yet prove nothing.

    It's safer aligned with Maher.

  • The civil war was over slavery, which was supported by who? The religious south! WWII was all Hitler, who was in a what? A totalitarian cult! The Korean was was over communism, and what kind of management style do the North Koreans use? They are in a commie cult and worship their "dear leader" - yes they think he is "god".

So you have only 3 wars out of ALL OF THEM that werent religiously motivated. Way to go, that makes it 98.6% "religulous" wars, vs 1.4% non-religulous.

  • Ironically Hitler tried to kill another cult probably because they get the fruit punch cool aid instead of the lame "I don't know what to call this blue crap... Oh, wtf, how about God?".

  • He is rather 100% right about 100% of all religions...

  • 2:35 "Religion is responsible for so much evil in the world..."

Indeed it is. Has there ever been a war throughout human history that wasn't motivated by a religion? I honestly cannot think of one. Not only have millions, upon millions of people been slaughtered, but add to the list; tortured, raped, molested, burned alive, robbed, conned, genocide, etc. One of the main arguments for religion, is the ethics argument and considering religion's horrific history, I fail to understand its validity.

  • The Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, first Gulf War...

  • actually... Revolutionary war was for religious freedom.. world war 1 and 2 was about one religious group hating another.. though america's involvement wasn't really religous... japanese thought that their emperor was a living god and were willing to lay their life down for him, and while german leaders used religion as a provoker of violent conflicts, they more or less were vengeful people manipulating people.

  • Umm, I don't think Bill Maher's point was to get rid of God, just to say Bill doesn't know who God is and it's rediculous to think you know who God is. You books aren't written by the creator of the universe. The creator did a better job with last night's dinner than man did with those books.

  • So, the funny part was when he was making fun of allll the other religions...

And with your religion, if %10 is wrong, so is the other %90.
