Good luck with everything, but you've got to be careful about what you footprint you leave on the web e.g. youtube, facebook etc. Could work against you. GL anyway.
You're all over the place. First off: it's not up to the recruiter to promise you a commission. So when you reference that "recruiter's job is just to get you in.." that's all they're required and trained to do. Sucking on a hard candy while insisting you deserve a commission is a far cry from deserving that role. If you want to be an officer, here's a little advise: start acting like one. You should enlist first, grow up a little, then seek the commission. "It's all relative." (Lt Nate Fick)
Absolutely right. Once you enlist you have to be approved from within regardless of your degree status ( politics ) and they will pick their favorites over you every time. While you are a civilian you hold all the cards and you dictate to them or walk. The Army or Air Force is always there is the Navy won't give you the opportunity.
That site is really what got me into wanting to go to OCS.
Want to go Aviation officer? Sweet!
From what I read, the GPA you need to get either Pilot or NFO (what I'm going for) is like 2.0 minimum. The degree doesn't really matter. As long as you have the drive, I think you'll get in.
@anokigryphon If you go in thinking that you are going to become a naval aviator with a 2.0 college GPA, then don't waist time.
So many people want to become Naval Aviators so that means that it is going to be stiff compitition. Try to get the highest GPA possible. If you can get it in math or science. Also a masters degree could put you ahead of other aviation candidates.
Oh I know that I was just saying the minimum to be eligible is 2.0, but 2.0 wont even get you recognized. I'm too old for the Aviation program at this point. I'm turning 27 in a week. My GPA is much higher than that, and I'm looking into other Naval Officer programs anyway.
i havent talked to my recruiter yet. i called her yesterday and left a message and she hasnt called me back yet. im calling an officer recruiter tomorrow though.
sounds like the recruiter tried to pull a fast one on you. good thing youre smart and do research. definitely hit up the officer recruiter ASAP and get the ball rollin on youre packet. otherwise., youll regret your time as an enlisted Sailor.

ROTC's the way to go in the Navy, the only real Mustangs are in the Army and USMC, making being a Mustnag in the Navy a HUGE run around
