  • I wonder if you could get one for a salt water tank.

  • Ive seen some for sale, and I plan on setting up a tank for them. Since many species feed on bryozoans and ascidians, they can be difficult to keep, but ive kept some of the less maintenence species for short time periods before.

  • The one that you said that was: Phyllidia varicosa

is called a: Fried Egg Nudibranch

  • u sure

  • Amazing shots! You don't see many videos of these guys around, thanks much.

  • As protection, nudibranches use an assortment of weapons. Some will use camouflage, others are brightly coloured to warn predators they are not a tasty meal.

If a Nudibranch is preyed upon, it will emit an unpleasant sour taste, which will not be forgotten.

The Great Barrier Reef of Australia displays an array of these stunning sea gems.

  • Nudibranch means naked Gill.

I once heard Nudibranches referred to as "Jewels of the Sea", I whole heartedly agree.

Nudibranches are living & moving splashes of colour.

Most Nudibranchs are fussy eaters, usually only targetting a specific type of food. Mainly comprising of algae, snails, sponges, anemones & sea hares.

  • woah such a neat video and they are so beautiful

  • Thanks Kay and Willy.

One correction to make - the last nudi in the video is misnamed - should be Chromodoris Magnifica (there's a misprint in the book...)

  • Very cool shots. Nudis are awesome!

  • Beautiful pictures, thank you so much0 > Kay
