  • does it destroy the netbooks battery life?

  • I don't know, I've never done any battery benchmarks with it connected - it would be weird in my opinion to watch a DVD on battery power off the external optical drive.

    - Jason

  • Windows XP is STILL good! Windows 7 is good also! These two accessories I'm wanting to get. I wanna buy the LG Super Slim 8X DVD / 24X CD USB Powered External Drive with LightScribe.

    Now that's good also!

These two things you show are a must have for my HP Mini 110. Awesome...

  • are netbooks good for playing games, like GTA IV, call of duty etc...

  • take one guess....hell no netbooks are for people working not gaming

  • Hey Jason, I'm about to get a netbook that I'm going to use mainly for school work. I think that I should get the Dell Inspiron mini 10 because I've read some reviews and saw your vids. If you can suggest anything better, please do (My budget is around $400). Thanks

  • Which takes up more RAM Windows 7 or Windows XP? Also did you say that most net books are being sold with pre-installed Windows 7?

  • Windows XP is less resource intensive than Windows 7, but not by much...Windows 7 is much more resource friendly than Windows Vista.

  • interesting video! :D I'm looking into getting a Laptop, or a Mini, 1 that would be awsome for editing videos :D whicjh would you recemend! Sorry to bug you one that would be at a great price range for... well osmeone little like yeah

  • If you're editing videos, you should not get a netbook - they're not designed for that sort of task.

    - Jason

  • Dear Jason,

What would be a good computer for editing?

    Thank-You

    ~NintendoLover229~

  • You'd want something with a decent CPU - a Core 2 Duo or AMD X2 processor. The Atom CPU is very slow compared to those types of processors.

    - Jason

  • if youre doing full-hd editing and rendering i'd prever an i7-920 system with at least 6gb of ram...

  • Absolutely - HD video editing requires much more horsepower...I'm was assuming he was talking about SD video.

    - Jason

  • that dvd burner is really cool

  • My aspire one has 3 USB ports. so i might get that drive.

  • ok when you boot up windows 7 it doesent tells you strart windows normally or make updates?

and how did you make windows 7 look transparency

  • I'm afraid I don't understand your question - everything you see about Windows 7 in this video is by default, I didn't change anything.

    - Jason

  • Got a question about netbooks? Before posting it, please watch my "Top 10 Netbook Questions Answered" and it just might answer your question. Thanks!

    - Jason

  • I HATE THE DESIGN

  • great item on the power cord, but on the dvd drive, that's nothing new, I have an HD-DVD Burner in an external case, I only paid $70.00 for the case and the burner.

  • Is your HD-DVD Burner as slim and light as the Samsung I show in the video? And does it run off USB power? I had an external DVD burner before this, but it was in a huge 5.25 inch drive case and required wall power. The Samsung drive I show here is thin, light, and best of all, requires no bulky power brick. So yes, it's "something new".

    - Jason

  • Sure is, it's a laptop hd-burner, I got it from the fleabay for $49.00 and got an enclosure there too.

I plan to use it as just a dvd player/burner for my mini 9, and my aspire one when I go mobile with them.

its a toshiba sd-l902a. I still can't believe people are still trying to sell them for $500.00, Especially since HD-DVD went the way of the Dodo.

  • Well that's cool that you were able to assemble your own slimline USB-powered drive from an internal laptop part and an enclosure, but that's a *little* different than a regular retail packaged drive that anyone can pick up at any major computer store. :-) The Samsung was the first drive of its type I'd seen at retail.

    - Jason

  • yeah thats true, they are hard to find.

  • Is the headset quality good on this netbook? because that is the main thing that i am looking for in a netbook.

  • Headset? It doesn't come with a headset. Do you mean the audio quality of headphones when plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack? I haven't tried that myself, but I expect it to be average - it's not like there's a nice Wolfson DSP on here. :-)

    - Jason

  • hey Jason, do you think the hp mini 1000 is worth the money? i really want it but think I that the aspire one has more bang for the buck.

    Thanks

  • The Aspire One definitely has the most bang for the buck if price is a your main concern (and the bigger hard drive). If build quality, thinness, and a great keyboard are more important, the Mini 1000 is a great choice.

    - Jason

  • Thanks! but just one more question...Does the slower hard drive really make that much of a difference? Because the mini has a slower hd than all of the netbooks right now.

  • You mean the 4200 RPM hard drive vs. the 5400 RPM hard drive most netbooks come with? Nah, I haven't noticed any significant difference.

    - Jason

  • Thank you so much, this really helped my decision. Think ill get the mini .

  • thanks for uploading the video reviews could you tell me in your opinion witch netbook is the best ? witch msi is the best too ? is it easy to upgrade the ram on the msi? pls answer me back soon im trying to figure witch one to buy thanks

    Andrew

  • Out of all the netbooks I've tested thus far, the HP Mini 1000 and the MSI Wind (the U120) are the ones I've liked the most. The RAM is easy to upgrade on the MSI, but even easier on the HP Mini 1000.

    - Jason

  • hey Jason, don't you think it's time to get all these things with wireless adaptors?... I hate cables... thanks for the review

  • How would a wireless DVD burner get power? Batteries? Nope, not practical. And wireless power to charge a laptop? Not practical either - you need a whole infrastructure to support something like that. I'm afraid wires are going to be around for many years yet...

    - Jason

  • yeah I get your point, but if now we can have powerful technologies such as bluetooth, and wireless internet, that could be used in this applications. It has to be a way to do that with energy. just my opinion thanks

  • but Jason can you add me as a friend? thanks -Joey

  • I approved your friend request Joey, but I don't add or display friends on my channel page.

    - Jason
