@spire81 For some reason, I thought it was a train! LOL Yeah, weird effects there. I love the music for the game. What is the classical piece used in the intro and camp compendium? Or the name of the music that plays like the "sailor music"?
Wow, I loved this game when I was young, but also never could solve it. I played it sometimes just to listen to the Dungeon music. Never knew it's a real Dvorak classic.
Sadly this music is mostly found now just played on piano - where it does not have the energy like in here.
Man...I played this as a kid, of course had broken version and could never finish it. I never knew it was Dvorak's Slavonic Dance in the Roman Dungeon either.
i used to play this but i gave up since i didn't know what to do...also, obelix was a jerk, just walks around and gets in your way. i just get rid of him instantly, in the village.
I even got one more to say! When you are in the dungeon cell, I thought i recognized that music. That music also plays on the game Dragon Slayer for the Game Boy. It is only a bit slower.
The Amiga was not around at the time. The Macintosh barely was (if you were content with a 9" black and white screen), although the Apple II was a competitor.
The Pentium was nowhere to be seen; the 80386 was a brand new chip at the time.
What is the name for the classical tune played while in the Roman dungeon scene? Heard it once on the radio many years ago, being aired nationwide. So it must be a famous one. I had remembered it ever since I played the game. Funny game.
Thanks! I knew I had come close to an answer when I heard the tune playing while playing Civilization IV. And that just about a week before getting this answer as to who is the composer behind the song.
Commodore c64 rules :) I have the c64 emulator and i play it all the time and i suuure play the Commodore128D i have it gjett and i play it with my friend we always played Usagi yojimbo grate music + green beret cool game asterix summer games world game last ninja and Rambo first blood part 2 . i never will let go commodore 128d :)
Hehe, me too, I played this a lot when I was a kid. I never noticed the missing seventh piece because I always ended up getting killed by those ^#&*&% boars much earlier. =0p

god look how the consloe has to load up each individual set peice
PS c64 r gay why do people love them so much
PPS i thought that the asterix and obelix game on sega master system was kinda good
PPPS i played a c64 in town in the gamesstation(i go to geforce but gamestation has old consoles) so i know what im talking about when i say its a frustrating machine even with the gay pad it had as an extra
Although c64 has its limits, people made clever games for it, and excellent music. Check out Space Taxi... it has realistic physics engine, speech sound effects, accurate controls and a nazi in the last level.
This is the bugfixed version. In the original game you need all 7 pieces to solve the game but there are only 6 pieces. So the original game wasn`t solvable.
2:40 civilization 4 song. This game was so hard when I was a kid

@mobilitymind About the dungeon music, you're right! That's same song is actually played in Civilization 4 too once you get in reneissance era, haha.

I never got this game as a kid. So that was it? All you had to do was walk around and gather pieces of a cauldron and smack down romans?
Now i feel raped and fucked in the ass!
roskildahphreak 1 year ago
the music played on roman dungeon is by Dvořák (Slavonic dance, 7th movement) !!...

sounds like they put some badass speedmetal-drums on that music.
FlowerFlo1983 2 years ago 2
Obelix is such a lazy bastard in this game. Just follows you around, doesn't bother helping you in the fights, and is MIA from half the game...

Zzap 64 was right. The backgrounds just take too damn long to draw up each time you enter a new screen!

That is so cool. Instant favourite on this. =)

@sakemaki Hardcore Gaming 101 describes the theme as "sea shanty with death metal drums". Describes the sound quite adequately :D .

Youre 17 years old, not your generation.
I happened to have that thing when I was 3 years old so I also hold a personal value to the C64.
