I disliked the redesigning of the Mad Hatter in BTAS: he somehow (for me) lost his charm and his 'sweetness': I do like him in AC though...mad man BUT under the influence of Strange: I would love for RockSteady to have him gain his senses again and team up with Scarecrow: two maniacs who mess with the mind: one of fear and one of control: can Batman defeat them?

He's based off the original Tenniel drawings for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter's actually the same size as Alice in the original illistrations.

I see so many different versions of the Mad Hatter in my head. On one hand, I see the sad and lonely man. He only wanted someone to love him. Then in the comics, I see the pedophile. He's constantly searching for his ideal alice among little girls. But he is merely looking for a person that doesn't exist. Then, even odder, a part of me sees him as being gay. But I blame myself for reading too many Scarecrow/Hatter fanfics. All different, yet still very much like the Mad Hatter.

Alice was Jervis Tetch aka Hatters secretary, he was obsessed with her partially because she was blonde and was named Alice. Since she was currently dating another guy at the time and Jervis did not think she'd be impressed by him, he took on the persona of his favorite character from his favorite book, the Hatter from Alice and Wonderland, too try and impress Alice so she might fall in love with him. Unfortunatley, she freaks out and so Hatter has too deal with it the best he can...kidnap her.
