  • This one and the entire "Aurora" album is so GREAT, One of the rare album that can be listened in circles, round and round again and again ...

  • Alan Zavod's face, he looks like any of zappas keyboard players......

  • Mystical Adventures....my favourite song (suite) all 19 minutes of it.....and my favourite album. So glad I got to see them on tour when they were promoting Mystical Adventures!!!!!!! Always surrounded with great musicians, great melodies he writes. All the elements are there.

  • First time I saw him live was@ the T.L.A. in Phila.,Pa.,12/10/89 (still have the ticket stub!) and will always be a big fan!

  • I was a freshman in college when I first started getting into his music. Imaginary Voyage was the one that did it for me !

  • guess they didn't have sequenzers back then huh?,,the dude's fingers are probably shot by then., ha

  • @srvera Allan Zavod is one of the most prolific keyboard players on the planet.Listen to his solo in JLP's"Don't let the world pass you by".He shouldn't have any problems acomplishing the repititious arpeggios. He's got the endurance!

  • Rayford Griffin on the drums.

  • Best composer of our times. He's another Mozart. or Beethoven.

  • a mystical adventure...love this piece...!!

  • This music should be as well known as anything out there. It's fantastic

  • I think I should buy this album. Who is with me???

  • My youth - I always had a good taste : )

  • Zavod has the DREAM MACHINE instrument setup! Acoustic & Yamaha CP-30 Electric Pianos, ARP 2600, ARP Omni, Oberhiem SEM 8-Voice, Roland Vocoder, What an Orchestra of expression! Amazing band amazing composition!

  • Till this day.....My favorite song, lol....I played this album to death, I had to run it through Pro Tools to bring it back to life.

  • i smoke a joint everytime i listen his record, as a matter of act i am right now, what are you gonna do about it Big-brother!? ah! hahahahahaha

  • @Percussionfish I had my first joint with my best friend in his car hearing this tape ! It was the best of times ! I fell in love with Jean-luc Ponty music ! His music is timeless ....

  • I saw him at the Wiltern theater, Los Angeles in the 90's, one of my two favorite violin players......A MASTER MUSICIAN!!!

  • GENIUS!!!!

  • My parents saw JLP on a rotating stage in either Pennsylvania or Ohio, I can't remember which one.

  • Met Ray in the Burgh after a JLP...sat down and talked for while....God's gift of sound.

  • Saw him in Settle, Wa. some time back. took me a few days to come down. The energy off the charts.

  • porreta o som do cara

  • youve done a good thing, thanks for posting

  • I had the album myself loved it made me a fan of his.

  • I have the vinyl, and play it regularly. Cosmic Messenger was the best album though ( I have that on vinyl, too).

  • r jackson, that's gotta be the saddest thing. why won't people pay the band.

  • I had the luxury of watching him and his bands perform LIVE in New Haven Ct / sevral Times...at Toad's Place and the Shubert...two differnet venues / on warmer and intimate , the second a theatre , and he was amazing.... was a while ago...3 encores to standing ovations.....possibly the best show of my LIFE !!! Jean- Luc !!!! and his bands were TIGHT !!!

  • Me also @ The Shubert Theatre.

  • I write any sheet music

  • Ponty is unique on the violin, no doubt that he work in the past with the best ,like Frank Zappa......thanks for share this great composition....

  • First time I heard this was on a "red-eye" headed east as the sun was just stretching it's light behind the dark curvature of the Earth...That was 25 years ago...and is still the absolute best over-all experience I've had in my life.

  • @Perritolis This one and the entire "Aurora" album is so GREAT, One of the rare album that can be listened in circles, round and round again and again ...

  • What a joy it is to see this, have spent many hours in the last 20 plus years enjoying the album.

  • Isn't this Mystical Adventures Suite and then Part I? And then the next vid that radiomix has is Part II.

Regardless, the Mystical Adventures songs are pretty much my favorite, right alongside with the Enigmatic Ocean suite.

  • Jean-Luc Ponty's music has always sounded to me like what Mahavishnu Orchestra could have done, if their egos hadn't cut the magic off.

  • This is a classic! When BETonJAZZ had a cluethey would play this all the time. They would also play UZEB and Weather Report with Peter Erskine. Every drummer should get hip to Rayford Griffin! Isn't this the Montreal Jazz Festival.

  • yeah big ups to the dude who said he gets chills cause i do every time i listen to ponty he totally taps into subconcious emotion at the risk of sounding lke a new age weirdo its true tho its sick what has happened to composition...1. can you sell a buger/life insurance/car/website da da da can you make a copy but with more sex appeal da da da .. you know what im speaking of real musicians need to stop being afraid and release some real shit on muthafukaz

  • I see an Oberheim 4 voice, an Arp2600 keyboard, what I think is an Arp Omni, a Prophet 5 but I can't ID the others.

My mom bought me this album when I was in high school. Great music.

  • is the keyboard guy on a wheel chair??

  • i don't think so. it looks like he's standing. it's just really dark. i understand why you think that though.

  • Nope he's not. 2:16 - 2:28

  • MUUUITO SOM!!!!

  • Jean Luc's music seriously sends chills throughout my body. I never get tired of hearing his compositions...

  • wow, I think I actually saw this tour when I was in high school. It was an amazing experience. And I too remember best of all from the concert-the drummer.

  • Rayford Griffin. He da man! He is also a pretty good singer. You should hear him in latest album Rebirth of the Cool. But as a drummer, few can come close.

  • Agreed!

  • c ton coeur qui bat encore dans cette musique, laurent monin oui je t'aime...pour toujours

  • ah c trop beau...

  • This may sound gay but his music can make you wanna cry!

  • Not gay at all. It makes you wanna cry when you stop to think that there are not enough young musicians capable of rising to these heights to bring another wave of masters of their respective instruments for the next couple of generations for music.

  • @Coowallsky so true!

  • Rayford is still one of the best! He was a huge inspiration for me.

  • A friend of the musical heart

  • this is your ear drums on drugs

  • I always thought this would be a great song to commit suicide to.

  • well now's your chance! go on do it.

    lmao

  • Yes! JLP is the best!! I just love this guy...saw him so many times in concert ...and my favorite band he put together included Rayford on the drums...man he does some cool stuff, especially coming from the left side as a right handed drummer...cool stuff, listen to 4:45...great fill!

  • that's not ralphe on bass... who is it?

  • Keith Jones

  • Just curious. Is Keith Jones the same bassist who layed down the licks for Kit Walker's (Dancing on the edge of the world) cd? Great clip by the way, and Rayford is the shizzznit!!!

  • @radiomix phenomenal!

  • I remember seeing Rayford Griffin during this tour... I almost quit drumming because of his performance. One of the best drummers ever.
