  • FUCK YEAH! Also, greetings to the uploader from neighbors, Serbia :D

  • I take this song as if she is glad that she is not a Proud american, not that she hate america and america. she is glad that she is not like the people that can't admit that our world and society has some problems and like the people who are proud of everything america does. America isn't perfect. No society is. And if you think that your contry is perfekt, look up some history.

  • @SwedishBadgerGirl i think its about the feeling in europe that americans will blindly and patriotically follow their leaders into a fire. I'm glad I'm not a proud american.

  • and miss li Anders Biervak just lets you know that crazy people exist in every society....sorry to shatter your incorrect view of serenity in your country ...and my heart goes out to all people affected by this madman he will get whats coming to him!!!!!!

  • I'm glad you can't sing a lick, or you'ed be famous.

  • please...all american music originated in New Orleans during slavery...go learn your music history dumbass...it was here in america...and yeah i'm sure all homosapiens originated in africa and migrated elsewhere so spare me your nonsense

  • um no she was born in america!!!

  • @MrColeycole22 First of all, it´s not "Spector" it´s "Spektor". And she was born in Russia, under the name Regina Ilyinichna Spektor. She was nine when she came to America. (Unless there is a second Regina Spector, in which case I apologize). BTW - not all American music originated from New Orleans. Country&western originated from Irish, Scottish and English folk music (which also resembles Scandinavian folk music). And the Africa thing? Please, that only means we share some genes...

  • @SagittarianMe you are an uniformed idiot!!

  • @SagittarianMe I'm positive her style was accomplished when she arrived in America at nine and she wasn't influenced by anyone in our country and im also sure hank sr and co were listening to socttish and english folk music lmfao ....yeah right what a good laugh u gave me!!!!!! you are one complete idiot!!!!!!

  • @MrColeycole22 Whether you like it or not, the whole genre of C&W music is based off Scottish and English folk music. It doesn´t mean that C&W singers all sit around listening to that music.

And Regina Spektor being born in Russia will have influenced her style in music a bit, because she grew up listening to Russian music. And I´m pretty sure her family brought some of that music with them to America.

And feel free to call me an idiot. But find some solid evidence to prove me wrong first

  • if it wasn't for regina spector a proud american she would have no career seeing as how she stole her whole style!!!

  • @MrColeycole22 Hey, Regina Spektor was originally European (Russia).

  • @MrColeycole22 regina spektor was born in russia, bitch. TAKE THAT.

  • lol at all the americans gettin' butthurt

  • Well if she only sang political songs, I would not be a fan. This song doesn't do it for me. As an American I often say "I'm glad I wasn't born anywhere else" I don't expect folks from Europe or elsewhere to take offense to that statement. So I don't take offense to this song.

This chick can sing! and I love alot of her stuff. She ain't hard to look at either. I guess I'm saying "If you like her stuff, listen and support her" If you don't like it, STFU and listen to something else.

  • Is there somewhere you can kind the lyrics to this song? A quick google search gave me nothing at all...

  • America's fuckin awesome

  • i'm american but not very proud of it D:

  • is this song on any of her albums?

  • The fact that a European has to make a song claiming that she's not an american should tell you everything you need to know.

  • Haha, in the suggestions there says "miss li i hate america".

    Offended proud americans.

  • "proud that I don't need a gun" ... yeah that's what bothers me about this country too.

  • You gotta love this song... xd

  • love this song, it's so true

    älskar miss li<3

  • I guess I was expecting the lyrics to be a biting, witty checklist of sorts detailing all that's wrong with American culture, but it ended up being rather weak and nonsensical.

  • @A550RGY Maybe it wasn't meant to be so biting?

  • @Kuddji1 Entirely possible.

  • Art is about expressing feelings and opinions not about being popular! I like the song and I think she has a point.

  • Interesting music. How does she pronounce her name? Does it rhyme with fly or tree?

  • @RadioCamp Tree. XD

  • @RadioCamp it's pronounced like leigh/lee

  • Omg I love this song <3

  • Im a proud American and a Miss Li fan. I love her music but I dont see any reason to bash a country that she hopes to get fans in. To me that just seems like its not a smart business move if she ever wants to be international and more popular than she is in America now. Because as an artist, If America likes you , the entire world likes you. Like Lady Gaga. They all get started internationally by being popular in America.

  • @xxmuzicchickxx Sorry to burst your bubble, but you don´t need America to make it in the music industry. If you make it in Japan, you´re pretty much set for life. And a lot of European artists have no interest in making it outside of Europe.

Don´t get me wrong, I have nothing against America, but you are not the center of the Universe.

  • @SagittarianMe Good point.

  • @xxmuzicchickxx Thank you :)

  • @SagittarianMe why does everyone copy everything we do? including miss lee!!! Go listen to Regina Spector and get back to me!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrColeycole22 Regina Spektor vs. Miss Li - similar voices, not really copies.

BTW - American country&western was inspired by European folk music - would you say you were "inspired" by us, or that you "copied" us? Remember, every single American who are not of African, Asian etc descent, are of European descent - ergo, our music styles wouldn´t really be that different...

  • I like the song but it's a bit fast for me. I've looked for the lyrics online but can't find them anywhere. Anyone have them?

  • Comment removed

  • @Leibelamour I guess I just don't see where this trouble is. Like I said I don't think she is America bashing or even saying she doesn't like America. She might be trying to be a "rebel" by being a bit eccentric with the lyrics but I wouldn't call it ranting. Then again maybe she just hates America, I could be wrong.

  • @Leibelamour I'm American and I generally like it but American is not a synonym for free. When she says that I imagine she's saying she's glad she's not the type of super proud American who when they hear someone say something negative about America respond with anger: "Well if you don't like America then get the f*** out!!!" And for the record I also don't like America bashing which I don't feel this is, but heck if it is I still say it's a good song.

  • Real question here, at 40-44sec does she say "I'm glad I'm not a proud American, glad that I don't need a god"? I really cannot tell and yes I have googled I'm Glad I'm Not A Proud American lyrics and I still cannot find it.

  • @OptimusWinkel 40-44 sec, proud that i don´t need a gun

  • Seriously, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't bother saying anything. If I hate you, I'll remove your comment. Take it very personal.

  • statistically, more dummasses come from the US than from any other nation in the world.

  • @phreakadelik21 im sorry but that is extremely rude and not true. I am a swede and I live in the USA, i don't LOVE it here an nor is America synonymous with freedom and she has very good points. There are a LOT of smart people coming out of the USA an probably as many idiots as any other country. The USA leaders are not the greatest of the world always but nor were some other ones from other countries like Castro, Hitler, President Grant, Chavez, al-Qaddafi, Stalin, etc.

    Don't be so stereotyper

  • I'm glad I don't stereotype entire countries and races. It is the ultimate form of racism and stupidity.

  • I'm glad I don't stereotype entire countries and races. It is the ultimate form of racism and stupidity.

  • You know, with all of the bashing we Americans get on a daily basis from movies, T.V. shows and music, I think I've become desensitized to offensive material. This song is actually kind of catchy.

  • Can anyone get me some lyrics?

  • Yea....And I'm glad I'm not a hateful nationalist.

  • Jag bara Älskar henne :) <3<3

  • @vio0 How the hell do you know that??? Most people and that includes celebritys hates something about you guys. Dosent have to be everything but most commet is that it's something that pepol unlike whit you guys.

  • @XDcuteXD I think you're stupider.

  • @XDcuteXD Ever heard of "Cereal and Milk" or the "Nigga Nigga" song?

  • @XDcuteXD most stupid *

  • catchy beat but a little offensive to americans

  • Well, I am glad I listened to this song :D

  • u stupid bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You mean trying to get a good education is bad? :(

.....AT LEAST I SHAVE MY ARMPITS!!! >:(

  • love this song ...totally understand Wat she means ..only because here in America we're aloud to do mostly anything doesn't mean we should some things are just very inappropriate. having freedom of speech has its ups and downs ....

  • i hate sterio types

  • We're glad you're not American either.

  • @fatstax79 I'm more than proud that she's from Sweden, she's one of our greatest artists imo.

  • @fatstax79 meaner

  • Americans are often proud because of their power, freedom etc. but I think they don't have a reason to assume that they are better people and they have better nation. And Miss Li wants us to notice this fact.

  • im gald i dont own a gun...im not a mass murderer...i know its just a song but i don like....the way its puut

  • @michancleta I think like vio0. She is not singing her own opinions, she is just singing about all the usual prejudices people have about americans ;). I know that she is smarter than judging people like this.

  • she says im not proud of it no...but....like shes sayng shes just not proudof it

  • @vio0 i agree

  • where did she grow up? she speeks english,,, yet shes sweedish

  • Comment removed

  • Have you got a lyrics?

  • im proud to be an american lyrics

  • @hellojoe78 thats what i thought! too bad shes sweedish

  • as an american, i am ashamed many more americans dont know her incredible music

im glad im not a proud american

  • God you guys are weird :) Its still just a song.

  • Your absolutely right, we should take after America, because when traveling cross it I never picked up on any sence of superiority towards the rest of the world......

  • @Ghouma

didn't say we should all be more american, just said that writing songs about how dumb americans are won't make them want to change and will make you look like a typical european that isn't quite sure how the world became so bad, but is convinced that america must somehow be the reason. bottom line: any form of self-glorification, no matter where the person doing it comes from, is boring and won't really solve much of anything.

  • To me what your saying is obvious but its hardly a truism so I will let it go, I didn't react to your comment on the song just that you hated the "superior" attitude of Europeans.

  • well, yeah, my point was that simply because some americans feel superior to others doesn't mean i can't point out that so do europeans. that is, without immediately being reminded that i can't /shouldn't/... say that b/c americans have the same problem.

  • Im not gonna let this get any more trivial, your viewpoint is fair and I respect it. If you want to continue this, lets talk about something else!

  • American people are people, no different then people in Holland I think, this song is not aimed at them. The corporate control over government and media is something we ,we allready have that to a lesser extent, could do without. And thats an understatement

  • @xiaoyue0207 And just like we shouldn't say all americans are the same, you shouldn't say that all europeans are the same. It's a friggin CONTINENT. Catchy song, though.

  • @LivesOnStars You got a point there (although as continents go, Europe is pretty tiny). Still not really a fan of this song.

  • American sucks lol :) I do live here, but I rather live in Europe! The People. The "Culture" , the ... welll everything x3 But no one should hate Miss Li over this song becauses its JUST a song xD

  • it's just a song

  • high five

  • Im an american & Im not proud of it.I've found that the worst countries in history are now the most liberal.theres definitely proof that the majority is uncivilized. homosexuals cant be married, & we still have the death penalty!COME ON!even the capital of mexico, the country thats the butt of many jokes, allows abortion & is legalizing gay marriage, & the majority is catholic.

  • @nataliella1 FOR GODS SAKE OUR FORMER PRESIDENT has an IQ A ROCK WOULD BE ASHAMED OF!

  • @nataliella1 and your current president is a black

  • @aidangant well that's a GOOD THING. one of the only good things about this country.

  • How do you know shes not poking fun at the fact that people generalize so often? I mean judging others and coming to conclusions when we have little or no proof is what humans are good at, at least looking at things from a psychological perspective... Plus everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if its wrong in yours, you're just gonna have to accept the fact that everyone is different and theres no changing that.

  • she's swedish though...well europe its all the same for u guys anyway (just teasing don't take it bad please)far too much anger in yr post take it easy. she's proud she's not american, she's free maybe she's even proud not to be French...fair enough am glad am not a proud swedish, otherwise swedish girl wouldn't be that hot for me! am a proud french..or at least i used to be ;-) No country has 100% of perfect citizen so enjoy what u are, the grass is not greener next door no it's just as green!

  • @lebipsjaune I totally agree with your post!!! bravo!!! some people are imminent to find a "flaw" or something negative to talk about. This is a great song.

  • First off, I really really like Miss Li & adore both Bourgeois Shangra-La followed by a close Danced All the Way Home. I'm American so I had to go in and hear this song, of course. Did it bother me somewhat? Yes. Do I like her less? Honestly?..A tiny bit. But she still has an amazing voice and style AND has her opinion just like we do here. I'm sad after reading this & so mny othr cmmnts re the neg. view of us/stereotyping. I: proud/kind american;know full well we've made mistakes...sigh

  • @MegStu928 - Really, it's just the obnoxious ones that get noticed because... well... they're stupid and obnoxious. It's kind of hard to ignore.

  • I'll preface this by saying that I'm Australian, so this song doesn't bother me because it's insulting my country. That said, it /does/ bother me because it obviously makes a massive assumption about Americans, in particular proud ones, that they are all the stereotypical gun-toting, warmongering, ignorant rednecks. There are good reasons to be proud of being American, notably its relative freedom. Is it the free-est and best country in the world? Probably not. Is it unworthy of pride? Hell no.

  • ahhh i ment aye!

  • I am from the USA, Hawaii to be exact. The last time I heard such rumblings was at a youth hostel down under. By the time we finished our last pint of beer for the night we all had realized; we are all in this together. Smile, love one another, be peaceful...and enjoy the music...

No, although i love them, I am not a hippie.

    Maybe I was just drunk

  • I'm glad I'm a proud european :)

  • me too

  • Miss Li is a great artist, her songs are so cheerful and she has such a good voice. Your view that you have better singers in th US is probably due to your narrow spectrum of world music. You should be proud of President Obama, he's digging you guys out of the shit created by years of Bush who is a dumbass nazi. America's days are numbered, your greed has f*cked you up your derriere. Allez ! Most of the world think Americans are obnoxious fascists.

  • That's ironic, because we have a much smaller government than most all European countries. I don't understand the 'narrow spectrum' of music in America - how many genres have Europeans created in the past 50 years?

Also, I'm not sure how greed is just an American problem? What specific aspect makes us more greedy than Europe, which ruled over many countries in the name of extra coffers for the motherland?

  • The original comment I replied to has been taken off. So it does break the continuity. Firstly, if you read the 'narrow spectrum' sentence, you will see I was refering to someones personal taste in music.

Regarding greed, I agree with you, it isn't only America, it just looks like that from this side of the pond. The Iraq conflict did look like something relating to the greed for oil though. WMD? I don't think so.

    But I respect your opinions.

  • Do you know exactly how much oil we've gained from invading Iraq? Of the millions of barrels exported a day, do you know how many actually end up in the US or US-owned companies?

Just a question that you may want to answer before arguing that we went to Iraq for oil.

  • Touchy subject eh?

  • @PieroBarong You ever wonder if the reason we always look over the pond at others problems and greed is to cover the thieving being done to us by our own governments? I am just a dumb American country boy but your comment about how things look 'from this side of the pond' make me think of the old saying 'Divide and Conquer'.

  • Hah, I'm Canadian. (I'm assuming the songs is talking about the US, not the whole north.)

  • Comment removed

  • American Not so proud of it at the moment but proud of its acomplishments. all countrys have something in their histroy they might not be so proud of

  • Racism is OK when it's against the USA.

  • USA is not technically a race ...

  • im just here to speak for all the Americans that desperately wish to be in another country because of idiots who think they are more American than the rest of us. im just saying dont judge all amreicans based on a few of us. p.s. Miss Li rules.

  • You're both wrong. The country is the USA. The continent is NORTH America. Now, stop arguing over something so idiotic.

  • :) You're a great person.

  • me encanta esta cancion es mi favorita

    yeeahhh !!!!!

    muy buena la verdad

  • *sigh* then why did u watch this vid.. I dont understand that.

  • your contry is USA, not America, America is the continent

  • She's Swedish you idiot! haha how arrogant do you have to be to assume everyone's American!

And yes people have died for your country but also people have been killed for your country!

  • Don't forget the one Killed To build what is today's USA (Native American Idians[Mass murder, Ethnic clansing, deportation...], African Slaves, Chineese fugees, + All of the Europeans who kiled one each other about who's first [who's first American], etc.)

Ah human stupidity, It'll never stop...

Look at us discussing about that on... youTube

  • Who would be proud of being a citizen in such a sionist-country anyway?

Do you wonder why people call it USrael?

  • Love the music by Miss. Li (Y) *fav* for sure and thanks for uploading... :D

    Great song!

  • yw, shipmatey :D
