i am sure good work goes on there but if a sanctuary out of London cxan't be built to preserve these animals life and the only option is to destroy them then it begs the question - HOW MUCH DOES THE DIRECTOR TAKE HOME A YEAR ?
@sweetypie000 the thing with that is that they need to pay the director a wage as an incentive for them to work there, if the director could earn a lot of money somewhere else why would they choose to work for nearly nothing? everyone (literally) has rent and bills to pay....
@snowball1988 there are people out there willing to do a good job and not for a massive wage packet
surely you have heard of wealthy people giving up their jobs to work for charitys ? there are people out there, qualified, even retired and are willing to do a directors job with little to no pay for the good cause of the animals
i have no doubt in my mind about that
trouble is, BDA is a business and the directors guard their jobs and salary with an iron fist
i don't understand how, as the news recently tells us, so many dogs and cats at Battersea Dogs Home are being put to sleep
I was under the imnpression they were looked after at the Home for life there or until someone takes them as a pet.
I say this because I personally know of at LEAST 3 people that have left their entire estate worth MILLIONS to Battersea Dogs Home and the intention behind it was to preserve and better their lives - NOT DESTROY THEM
@sweetypie000 a lot of other rescue centres and local councils dump their dogs on battersea plus all the councils in the M25 area, battersea is situated under some train tacks in the middle of london, do you think they have unlimited space to keep all the unwanted dogs in the M25 area and not have room to expand? plus expansions cost money too...battersea cleans up the mess that others make, shame on the people for abusing/abandoning their animals in teh 1st place!! not shame on battersea...
Well done to these people ;) i only adopt from kennels like Battersea. Only when I go in I get so upset that they are there and just want them all to come home with me and have a forever home. I know it isn't possible and that a lot of them get adopted but it just saddens me.
@battersea volunteers ? they get left millions and millions a year yet are now destroying the animals wtf.....
i'm shocked at the recent news, i thought battersea preserved life. spade the cats and dogs and let them live out their lives outside london - how much is bowl of food and a day and fresh air ? i'm kind of shocked
No explaination of cost involved or any excuse can make this right. Battersea has made a fortune every year through donations and wills
@sweetypie000 let me explain something to you, battersea is one of the ONLY dog rescue centres that NEVER turns away a dog, alot of others reject the worst dogs and just say "take it to battersea" and dump it on them, battersea do all they can to clean up the problems that other people make, the site is in the middle of south-west london under some train tacks, they don;t have unlimited space to keep unlimited dogs - why don't the govenment help them out!!?? tell me that...
Iv had a dog from Battersea and they are a great bunch. They have outer London centers now as well as the London.

Is the next recruitment in April? Also would you need to send a covering letter as to why you would like to work there?
Rokii1992 2 years ago
the applications open in march and the selection process will be in april, you do need to do a statement saying why you want to volunteer there
