Any last moments in which the universe disappears into total darkness and death as all stars wither away into nothing and black holes remain are rather scary. But should the universe have a different ending of its own, it should disappear in a "Big Crunch" instead...and then a new universe would be born. If many of us are not sure what humanity would be doing by then, my guess is that they could be inhabiting in multiple universes beyond our own.
