  • is from brazil, big pilot

  • เอาเหี้ยอะไรมาให้ดู...ส้นตีน

  • Dragster hellicopter

  • very skilled bit of flying

  • This is the Captain Bosco, from Brazil, training us to fly !!!!

  • needs running skids, i.e. wheels

  • what a beautiful looking heli... nice

  • boring

  • Cool :-) I'm the cameraman who took these pictures and it's a pleasure to see them again :-) Unfortunately, one of the pilots was killed in a stupid accident one year later.

  • where was this filmed? it looks like the Pemberton Valley in British Columbia...

  • The pictures were taken at Sion / Switzerland (LSGS). The region is the Valais, where you can find many famous ski ressorts, like Crans-Montana, Verbier or Zermatt.

  • owner of this vid u gota change that name gota put sumthing like helicopter plane landing

  • Why? the video name is exactly what is going on.

Doesnt say, Heli crash, which would be wrong.

    It is correct.

  • Yes, what is going on here is that your teaching the pilot how to land without an engine, thus the titles in the lower left Autorotaion. This is a skill so in the event you lose an engine you can walk away from it. I am a flight instructor at Fort Rucker Army aviation center and this is what we do about 6 times a day with a student pilot. There is also an auto with turn and a low-level auto. What is being shown here is called a standard auto. BTW we also do these at night.

  • awesome

  • wow man thats great :D

  • Hey CobraDriver07, Are you still down at Rucker? I've been trying to get into WOFT since I graduated high school, but my vision kept me out. Once they started accepting laser surgery I successfully had that done. I'm a private pilot with 200 hours fixed wing & 55 hours helicopter 300c time. I scored a 135 on my AFAST test and have a LOR from a CW5. I'm 4 years over the age limit... with current demands for Army helicopter pilots, what do you think my chances of getting an age waiver would be?

  • @OneHoof Yes I am but the specifics regarding getting into the program is not in my field of knowledge. Those would be best answered by a recruiter. Good numbers and flight school would be a breeze for you, but you have to look into those issues you mentioned. Good luck and hope to see you out at Lowe AAF.

  • @CobraDriver07 You teach your student pilots to do autos at night??? That would scare the crap outta me! Daytime autos no problem I could ride along and even sleep through those but a night auto??? Would surely be puckered tight for that...lol

  • @just4playin1 So far we are only authorized to accomplish those maneuvers unaided, without NVG's, but the word coming out is that they are looking into adding that to the course too. If I'm not mistaken we are a bit behind the power curve because I think the Marines and Navy already do them with goggles. But your right, it does make you pucker a bit :)

  • @CobraDriver07 Im not sure if I would want to NVG's I was SF for 8 years and they mess with depth perception bigtime... We had numerous blackhawk pilots almost kill us on surface drops while wearing NVG's because they would slam the tail into the ground while touching down... I dont see how anybody can fly with NVG's they limit vision so much, but I could see how it would keep you from flying into the trees head on...

  • he is like a plane :D :D :D

  • Man, I miss doing those autorotations to the ground!! =)

  • hey will shut the fuck up about ur website? everybody knows were to get good porn

  • damn. could barely tell that was full down auto. skilz

  • Just like the Hueys in 'Nam did it!

  • Maybe he had a Nam Flash back ?

  • I live near KABE and I see a chopper doing this every once in a while when I drive by. I figured it must be some kind of training but wasn't sure what exactly they were doing. It was still fun to watch though. Now I know what the hell they're doing... Ya learn somethin new every day. ;-)

    Cool video.

  • good auto, 10 out of 10

  • pretty cool, the physics behind the whole thing. I had always assumed, "no power, then straight down you go".....Shows how much I know about verticle lift aviation.....

  • Well, I have been in a real autorotation during maintenance test flight. Doing a UH-1H engine topping check at 9500 ft MSL, the engine made 3 large banging sounds like hitting the side of a garbage can with a bat (you know what I mean if you ever heard a compressor stall). Pilot could not restart the engine so we picked out a dry lake bed (next to Calico ghost town in California) for our auto. (cont)

  • We had practiced so many that it was not as scary as I expected except that we could not recover with power if needed. But the pilot, an Army maintenance test pilot, made a PERFECT runon landing as smooth as any practice landing. We just stared at each other a moment, then high-fived and jumped out and did a little dance while we waited for the emergency and ground crews to show up. One of the highlights of my life...lol

  • "We just stared at each other a moment, then high-fived and jumped out and did a little dance" HAHAHAHAHAHA I bet you bloody did! LOL

  • The helicopter AUTOROTATES to land on the secound Landing, autorotation is a way to perform an emergency landing with a helicopter for example if the helicopters engine fails inair. Autorotation uses the physics of the blades to add lift power and CAN make an helicopter with an total engine failure inair be able to land safely OR with less risk of human losses due to a "softer" landing. Try to search for "Autorotation" on Wikipedia if you want to know more.

  • Yeah but it ruins the skids.... I've had to change hundreds of em...

  • You think i's hard on skids try it with float gear. Any miscalculation and you roll up into a ball.

  • wtf !!

  • Is it a plane pilot inside ?! It just landed like a plane ! lol

  • WTFFFFFFFF

  • any1 tell u ppl you r nerds who cares bout autorotation i dun evn no what it means nor do i care

  • Lets hear what u have to say when one saves your life... or that of your kids. Goodbye...

  • you would if your engine quit and you training and expierance were inaquate

  • No such thing as a "simulated autorotation". WTF... If you have the luxury of engaging the engine then it is "simulated". Don't you just love know it alls who don't...

  • Wow! Nice flares mate!

  • That was really amazing! ...how - the hell - do you work those situations out without dropping the tailrotor? Rock on...and don't forget to praise the Jesus Nut.

  • the mountain did it!

  • No such thing as a "simulated autorotation". You either autorotate or not. But if the engine is still running you can of course always reengage it at the bottom and enter a hover instead of going all the way to the ground. A luxury you don't have if the engine just quit :).

  • damn, none of my autos look like that..

  • Then practice more. The auto in the video is smooth as glass!

  • i could do that drunk with me eyes shut

  • Very nice auto Landing.

  • Je pense connaître le propriétaire... Je suis impressionné. d'un ancien de chez farner...

  • 2 bushpig205....i am certain that there is a great amount of skill in autorotation, even simple as this one.And if U read better U could see that the name of this vid is CRASH "TRAINING"!!!!!So,this is just a simulation of autorotation.

  • In my openion power recovery is more difficult than a full touchdown. The FAA wouldn't ride with me on the full touchdown. You don't want to make that kind of flare in model 47s especially the J model with long roters. We used the colective flair to avoid tail rotor damage.

  • so whats your point

    I said demonstration.

Only instructors or vanilla pilots bar up over this

You have to be good at these if you do nothing else

try putting a hook into a guys hand on the end of a 200' line all day long flying a 205 or 214

  • good work ... dont fly heli's but it looks smoother than a baby's bum

  • big deal

I can assure there is zero skill required in this demonstration

Auto's onto a huge open area grass strip into wind.....

  • Ok, video reply with you doing something better.

  • I'd scare the hell out of you with a 180 degree downwind from 400 feet. Done properly you land on the spot where the engine quit and you don't necessarly need a runon touchdown. On floats thats a no no.

  • I can't fly a heli so I'm sure that pretty much means I have zero skill... Cool I could do this then! RETARD!

  • Very cool fast landings! Like this Helicoper flying! Nice Video

  • How do you autorotate with a tailrotor gone? Surely you'd be spinning...

  • You do not spin in an autorotation because there is very little power (torque) applied to the main rotor. The airspeed also helps keep the tail weathervaned behind you.

  • I've always wondered that. No, seriously! A helicopter once landed at the school opposite where I live and the head invited the local residents to come listen to the pilots talk. They told us about autorotation, when asked what happens if the engines fail, but never explained why it doesn't spin.

  • It doesn´t spin because there is no torque from de engine, the rotor is spinning freely, sorry for my english.

  • with the engine gone, there is very little torque and little need for the tail rotor, If the pilots keeps enough airspeed the vertical fin keeps the chopper straight. You do need some tail rotor effectiveness for touchdown and Ofcourse if the tail rotor completely failed the landing would have to be made closer to max run on speed on the ground. Good question though

  • EXCELLENT !!

  • right! I had to autorotate one nice sunny day due to a tail rotor failure and no it was not as smooth as these blokes make it appear to be!!

  • Though a good simulation, it's not true autorotation because the engines are still running... not disengaged.

  • think of it like an automatic car, when you take your foot off the throttle the engine disconnects from the transmition via an over running clutch.

As long as the engine RPM is slower than the rotor gear box is turning the engine is not giving any power to the ship.. if you turn off the turbine with out cooling it off you can destroy it. there for you have to do it with the engine on.

full downs are a blast, i think all pilots should at the minimum have one demonstrated to them

  • it is a true auto b/c the engine is at idle and NOT producing power

  • yep, looks easy to do with the engine running. All hell breaks loose when the engine quits over some terrain on a dark night. Have live through one engine failure and a tail rotor failure

  • why are there so many fuckwitts on youtube? Does everyone have fucked comments like you two wankers (crashman2 and shorts360dog).

  • Whats so wrong with their comments that you post THIS comment? Bit of an over-reaction...

  • this is autorotation. engine is disengaged, every helo pilot has to learn it to get their rating

  • it's cheating to have the tail rotor shrouded like that... :)
