Thanks a lot for putting this video up. We needed a screaming cat noise for a sketch show me and 2 friends have made, hope you don't mind. Cheek it out, type in Not Another Sketch Show. This sound is in episode 8 see if you can here it at the start. Thanks again
beutiful i have a cat that will just crawl in your lap and let you pet her we found her wandering around so we kept her turns out shes a rare $800 mane coon!
She was calling for YOU and it was obvious by her searching while vocalizing loudly. Also, I had a cat live to 22 years and she was completely deaf for the last several years. They have to use their other remaining senses to communicate when at advanced ages. My cat used to respond to me when I would tap loudly on the floor for her or clap. I certainly hope if she is still alive at this time that you have sought out very good veterinary advice & care. Still mysterious creatures, aren't they?
it looks like high blood pressure/hyperthyroidism to me.....you should get her tested. She is gorgeous though just the like the one I had growing up...he only made it to 18 though
my cat went like that. she was younger she hardly ever meow but as she got old she started bein extremely vocal && her meow changed its tone and sounded juz like a simese cat. she use 2 av such a sweet meow wen she was a kitten. sadly she passed away last year in june at the age of 21. I still miss her loads && still cry loads...xx
I had a female turkish angora who was deaf and she would scream like that all the time. The only time she ever meowed was when she wanted attention. I was so used to it that i forgot what a regular cat sounds like. When she would see me she would let out a high pitch scream and run over to me. So cute and funny.
I have an older cat who meows just like that, like he's saying "hello." He can't see very well either and yelling at the top of his lungs is his way of finding me because he knows that when he meows I'll come to him.
Some older cats develop dementia, just like people do, and they cry because they can't figure out where they are, even if they grew up there. It's very sad, but hey, that's life.
She's so cute looking for you...."Meow mommy where are you?? where are you?? where are you I miss you?? where are you?? where are you?? oh there you are!!!!:D"
I love it at the end, when she turns around to see you there, a quick meow just to acknowledge that she has noticed you.
My cat also does this, she's 15 but has been doing this for about 5 years, usually if the bed isn't made, or her fave chair is out of position, or a door is closed, I think we have spoilt her but it's all worth it. I need to get her on video doing it.
I second the "aw." This kitty must be well-loved and cared for to live this long. Our precious 16-yr-old tortie died just about the same time this was loaded.
Yes I agree. My old Siamese does this if he can't see me or does'nt know where I am at all times. it's very hard to leave him alone. I always feel guitly when I do have to leave.
Our cat makes a very similar meow when she's lost track of us. Basically 'Hullo! Where are you?' If your old cats eyes and ears are failing this may be the same behaviour. Notice right at the end when the cat turns its head and sees you there is a meow of 'Oh, there you are.'
@tomismykle Awww I'm sorry to hear that :( I have an 18 year old cat that someone wanted put to sleep because they didn't want him anymore. Have had him for about 3 years now. Poor guy didn't know what it was like to have any attention, now the old fart is spoiled rotten and going strong besides some minor arthritis in his back legs that only acts up and isn't a constant problem for him.
It's comforting to know that other peoples' old cats do this. My cat was downstairs this morning making the most tortured noises. Like she was screaming while gargling. And she used to be such a quiet cat. Haha.
aw poor thing, adorable cat by the way,if its half-blind thats kinda sad,it probally thought noone was thare,my cat did that when she thought eveyone left the house...i miss her...anyway cute cat.^.^
haha my 18 and a half year old cat dies exactly the same thing!! she wails like a widow for attention, and then when she notices you're behind her, it turns into the cutest little "oh, hello!" meow!
Translation: WHERE IS EVERYONE! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
