First time I heard this song I'd hit the snooze button on the radio - tuned to WSUB in NY. It was so new 'this is us' didn't get any results from google. I sat bolt upright in bed, got some coffee, and called the station. The jock on duty was less than helpfull. :( Bought the album as soon as I found it.
No, the drummer isn't too fast. This is just a real good song plugged into the energy grid of New York City. This version rocks. Everyone is really enjoying the ride, too.
this tune really rocks I can listen over and over. What a great line YOU AT THE SUNDAY GAME STANDING NEXT TO WHATS HIS NAME . I have heard that phrase, whats his name thousands of times NEVER BEFORE IN A SONG.
Let's not forget the most incredible band leader/keyboardist ever: Mr Paul Shaffer. this Canadian is incredible. Look at him in the background with that fabulous CBS Orchestra. David Lettermen recognized Paul a long time ago...thank God!
Great song. Emmylou is 64 years old and like a fine mature wine just gets better with age, the woman's soul just radiates out of her that's the secret.
When Mark Knopfler was a kid he told his parents he wanted to make music with a stick of butter. They told him, "Son, you can't make music with a stick of butter." So he got himself a Les Paul and showed them they were wrong.
@klojo99 actually that's not true... his first guitar was a "hofner" brand imitation stratocaster that cost his dad 50 quid. After that he got several resonator guitars of the national brand and gibson les paul special. Then in the mid-late seventies he got a rosewood neck red strat and then a maple neck one. In 1980 he purchased 5 schecter guitars in new york.
Emmylou Harris is what I like to call one of "those women." There are a very few women who as they age, actually become more attractive. Emmylou is one. Trust me on this--I married one of "those women."
I´ll be 59 years old in July and finally logged on because I´m getting fed up with people giving songs like this a bad rating. I mean how can anybody give this song a bad critic?
Emmylou is 64 years old. She has unequalled beauty. Her face is perfect, her hair frames her beautifull face , like a picture frame on a master piece. Yum
Don't play this song driving down the highway--I got pulled over for speeding and didn't even care. Awesome listening to these two magnificent performers on the open road!
is it just me or is that sexual tension?.. whoever paired these two up for touring deserves a fat raise! each have always been true masters of the understated and for nearly 35 years have barely opened their mouths! in fact they hardly have to move to groove! lol (although with a great band like that behind them, even i would look good!).. very hip clip and i gotta think there's a 'roll in the hay' awaiting them back in the barnyard!
Oh yea, and nice work from Paul Schaffer and the Band, the entire stage crew including cameras, sound, and stage director. They are THE best in the business and that's what makes this show heads and tails better than anything else in the late night broadcast business; period. Thanks for everything for so long Dave...
Like most great pairings, this song should never end. A wonderful example of two great artists at the top of their game merging for an extraordinary moment in time...
3:02 - makes me sad and happy to contemplate how that little tiny bit of guitar solo during the last 30 seconds was more awesomeness than most guitar players will ever produce in their entire career.
Please get Knopfler and Rea together to do a special gig before its too late....they have never collaborated together but can you imagine the two playing some of their selected work.. Bring it on !!!!!!!!
@NAH1967 Thanks for comment , Chris Rea and Knopfler are such consummate musicians with a wonderful generational back catalogue of music, endless writing guitar talents , but also two warm quiet men of rock history. Both Northeast born and both styles complimenting each other ( even voices) Road to Hell with both....Brothers in arms with Chris on Slide...cmon someone arrange it.
@Barrellockingnut Sure, I'd be very happy to see MK and Chris Rea do some playing together, and I've wondered why they didn't in the past. There must be some reason for the failure to get together. MK has played more than enough with Eric Clapton but not at all with Chris Rea.
Unbeleivable!!!! Such amazing musicians. The sound has been so well-defined and it truly represents what Knoplfer is all about. The compliment of Emmy's vocals to Marks and vice versa is exactly what is needed for this musical masterpiece!

Please read the prophecies of Linda Newkirk at prophecies org
Many important warnings from our Lord about the Antichrist, the Two Witnesses, Revelation 12, the false rapture/alien invasion.
Deluded preachers and televangelists will promote the invasion as the return of Jesus, many will want to escape as war and chaos break out.
The warnings about Obama are very sobering and shocking!
False prophets in the churches! Counterfeit miracles!
Please share these warnings with others
