a spoiler wouldn't have fixed anything. he flew off because he went sideways... this is why lateral stability is so important in speed runs, if you start getting possitive yaw rate then the car is no longer aerodynamically efficient, it won't generate downforce. in other, simpler words, the car went sideways, the roof acted as an air brake and created a wake that dragged it backwards, the bottom was left naked and so it created lift instead of downforce. that's cuz this isn't a car for speed

A wing would help at that speed, down force is always useful even if applied directly at the rear. However, at that speed (guessing that it's a top speed) it wouldn't be useful because it creates too much drag.
