None of these were even spectacular fails, they were just minor accidents that anyone can make. You can get hurt just as much by walking down the street, tripping and spraining your ankle.

The roof jumpers were idiots though, that's not what Parkour is about at all.

And why all the hate for Parkour? Just not a fan of adventurous people that like to find their own way? Or maybe it's just because you're too physically incompetent to do it yourself, so you take it out on the people that can?

There may be extraneous circumstances that would cause jumping from roof to roof to be faster and more efficient, but generally speaking the time and energy it takes to get onto a roof nullifies any benefit it may pose. Plus it's downright dangerous, and safety is more important than speed or efficiency.

i agree with you about how you understand parkour but i'd like to enlighten you as to why specifically roof jumping is parkour as in an urban environment getting from point A to point B may be done most efficiently by simply traversing over buildings and thus roof jumping or say if you started out in a building. i'd say roof jumping is the physical embodiment of parkour and highlights the difference between parkour and freerunnign most.
