"Those who have ears hear and those that don't get funked up"
I'm going to go out and carve that into a rock so that one day when aliens recover the waste of our civilization they will be confused. Then they will find the records, among the ashes, protected by the funk, and then, they will understand, rejoice the discovery, and weep the loss of all those great funkateers.
Okay, here's an explanation of the One. Prophecies speak of a man who can change the Matrix as he sees fit. He's free from the rules of the system....oh, wait....
Bootsy is so great, I forget even he had to start at the bottom, even he didn't understand the ONE. This is why I love Bootsy, he lets you know what's real.
That's a seriously young Lenny Henry (watch?v=-ZfWKMPzYTY) doing the interviewing. Was this all from a BBC2 series in the 80s about learning to play instruments?
WOW that is in interesting definition about the "one", makes sense, he just placed the "one" differently from a regular structured song. HE PRETTY MUCH INVENTED THE LIVE LOOP! That is HOT!
get funked up !! Love how bootsy's so high he forgets to untap the delay when playing haha. And Jabo Starks man... 5 seconds of his drumming ... THE SOUND, THE FEEL !! argg too funky
I can so imagine George backin the day in the studio just singing rhythms and grooves and dancing n shit to get his idea across to the band. He is the funk.
@squizzlest . Hi, this is a BBC documentary called The History of Funk, shown 10 maybe 12 years ago, been trying to find a hard copy too, but its definately made by the BBC!
@BlackSciFi nope, man! That's simply the first beat of the musical compass, or bar. The FIRST beat, the number ONE. If you loose it, when playing heavy complex, sincopated stuff, you get fucked up on your groove, as Bootsie was saying. That's not only a funk thing, each and every music on this planet has a 'number one'. James knew what he was talking about!
@atks22 It is the key point of every groovy music we here today.
All the instruments base their energy on this 1st time of the bar to create the power of the groove, and the movement of the ass comes on the 2nd time, when you release the pressure with the snare shot ;-)
