@jekquirock It depends on the type of wicket, the pace isnt a problem its the bounce that pace bowlers get, you want to take it around your waist either when its rising, or starting to dip if its a very fast bowler.
this really helped me i only had 10 dissmisslas (2 stumpings and 8 catches) in 10 matches then in my next 5 matchs i got 25 dissmisslas (10 stumpings and 15 catches) really good vid (aussie players dont get paid enough!)
you can hit the stumps with your hands as long as the ball is in them. You cant have the ball in one hand and hit the stumps with the other, the batsman would be given not out
when your close to the wickets because of the spin bowling and the batsman is off his line do you have to hit the stumps with the actual ball or can you just hit them with your hands? (when the balls in your hand of course)
as long as your in control of the ball when the bails are taken off, its out (i think that it has to be in the hand you take the bails off with aswell, but the ball doesnt have to hit the wicket...)
Im a pretty decent keeper with good reflexes. However, when it comes to keeping up to the stumps for medium pacers and off spinners, im ont being able to gather the ball cleanly. Anybody with good tips?
What i try to do is absolutley forget the batsman is there, stay down low for as long as possible, and put your hands out to the path of the ball with very wide hands, to compensate for edges. i hope i could help.
it is easy to adjust to swing or spin if the ball has been bowled in the right are. Other than that the direction will not change. And if the batsman edges it, Use your fast reflexes.
Yea, i've been keeping for a few years now but in the early years i had a psycho fast bowler who swung it back in to righties and it often went down leg. Movement is the key to this. Don't just dive to the ball or stick your hand out. Sometimes the batsman gets in the way when its going down leg but the important thing is to only stay focused on the ball and forget the batsmans there.

just starting wicket keeping last year i didnt really get told how to do anything so ive been doing it my own way...now i know how it is actually done
That was amazing glove work by Moin ..its tough making quick leg side work and the ones that come inside of the bat especially when the keeper's vision is obstructed by the batsman in front ...go Moin !!!
always remember to keep your eye on the ball from the moment it leaves the bowlers hand and follow it. You may also be snatching at the ball, let it come to you. and you could moving a step or too backwards to give you more time.
i agree, i just started keeping, when i tried it it makes it a whole lot harder to catch or move around... if you keep normally you can just move easily

Ive just started doing alot more wicket keeping, this has helped alot.
I seem to struggle against left arm bowlers that swing it back into the right handers. But im still new to this. Any tips?
BravoSince91 3 years ago
yeah make sure u stay with the ball
and if they r pitching it full stay low and move late
but if they bang it short be up quick if its a bouncy pitch

Stand directly behind the stumps and even down the legside a bit. but make sure you can still see the ball.

I prefer to keep my legs close together as i can use them as a masive object to block the ball if i dont catch it. Cant wait until the season starts.
grignon1 3 years ago
i thought that's what crap keepers do because they think that they gona miss the ball most of times so just keep legs together.
i feel uncomfortable if i do that
Pakistani290 3 years ago
But it makes sure you dont give away any bys.

and when comes to catch you'l become unstable nop i'm hapy with my style
