I am 55 years old. I remember variations of this technique back in the 70's. The reason for the article I read back then was to make sure the strength of the supporting and connecting ligaments, and other supporting muscles get strengthened along with the main muscles involved. The explanation I remember was the strength used in real life scenarios. Lifting something that is heavy, yet difficult to move. Light weights lifted very slowly can be very demanding yet rewarding as one progresses!
This is how I used to work out when I was in school but I would do it by myself because I was using much less weight than I would during my normal weightlifting - my workout partners never would have understood back then. The strength development was fast and I felt as if the muscle development went deeper into the tissues - hope that makes sense - Good video
i have worked out 4 several yrs with the regilar routines with some gains until i switched to this type of workout and made more gains in 1 month than i did in 4 yrs.
Super Slow is a form of human strength training popularized by Ken Hutchins. The term SuperSlow and derivative terms are registered by Hutchins as trademarks. Super Slow involves the combination of very slow speeds of lifting and lowering the weight, along with the general principles of the High intensity training approach advocated by Arthur Jones
How much weight, and how many reps?

@SuperMatric I think the Super Slow is better if you want your muscles to grow.
