I think Russia has a chance now the push the US back a bit because the US is still bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan and its government must be close to bankruptcy if not there already.

Even if US went bankrupt or will face more rough times I think you know as you have lived in the US that it is a very powerfull country - many cities, people, ports, commerce etc so it will recover.

However US is not at its best and this gives Russia a chance to negotiate with US and work something out.
